Here's the original design of the base. I saved it as a new iteration. I also adjusted reflection of window materials and lowered bump size.

edit: I think I'm going to go with the new path/road and the old plaza.

Since I need feedback to do anything further, I think I will start a new BAT. I want to do a real building with gothic influences since I've always been amazed at some of the BATs that were done well in that style. Any suggestions? Whenever I get feedback on the glass building I will continue to work on that one, don't worry, it's just that the last 5% of a project takes longer than the first 95%.

edit: has the tribune tower been done?

How would one figure out the dimensions of the base of a building and pretty much everything else. I remember seeing a tutorial on the omnibus when I first started but I couldn't find it.

I would change the ground pane, avoid having sea in it as you want something a little more generic. If you scour though Aarons, Simfox's and I think KellyDale's there are a few example ground planes on that, I would set the UV map form the ground pane to say 200x200. I would make the size ofthe noise on the glass bump to about 7. Also, you should really check out Jason tutorial as you want the glass to be alternating it's noise/bump between the panes so that the noise doesn't flow from one pane of glass to the other. A crude way of doing this is to copy your current glass mat, change the size of the noise a bit and the bump etc so it is a little different and alternate the materials between the glass panes

a crude example would be x is mat 1 and o is mat 2

    x o x o x o x o

    o x o x o x o x

    x o x o x o x o

if you catch my drift? Like I say, this is a crude way and a good idea would be to go through Jason tut if you haven't already with regardings to multi maps.

Thank you so much for all the feedback and such. Btw, I posted 2 glass materials cause those are the 2 on my building atm ;) I'll change the ground plane now.

This will be my new project. I've started on it a little bit, but I have no clue how to model the main building due to the fact that I have no idea on what the scale is. It's 436 feet tall, 36 stories, and that's all I know. Any ideas on how to figure out the heights of the different sections and dimensions of the base?

Here's what I've got done so far >.> all I've done so far is the entrance

I think what you have for the glass is too black and dark, which darkness in color is hard to create for SimCity.

What you have so far on the other project is interesting. Will be very tedious work...

i agree the glass to is too dark does not fit with SC4 pallete. Try raising the transparancy and possibly adding some blinds??

Also, you might want to make the ground plane map at little larger UV wise??

Keep it up though, glass is real hard and you are progressing every time

    Love your new project.

About the scale... I'd suggest using the Camera Match tool in Max: it will create a camera in the same position as your reference picture and you'll be able to modify details based on it.

here's what I've done on the glass today.

Nothing to show in z5 yet in tribune...

Here's a preview of the base in a perspective view. Ignore the right side, symmetry got a bit messed up.

Wow, the details on the Tribune are amazing..great work so far!!!!

With the tower, the mullions are no longer visible, I would either make them a lot darker, or a lot lighter..but right now you can't really see them. Perhaps Cockatoo may offer some advice if he gets a chance as it is similar to his amazing Comalco Place :)

Thanks. I'll work on the mullions soon.

About the tribune tower. There's a huge complex around it. Is that all considered part of the building?

That's entirely up to you. ;) It's perfectly legitimate to adapt buildings for optimal use in SC4. BAT a tower and its neighbour building in once piece (although they are technically two buildings in real life), or leave out a part of one building that would make the building too hard to handle either in max ore in game. Maxis has done that a lot, too.

Your new project is looking good, you have improved a lot, keep it up.

About the tower I feel as you have lost direction a little bit...

yea...I agree, the glass texture looks a bit too busy. I was picturing a seaside hotel at first... I'll work on it some more today I guess.

Here's z5 of the tribune so far. Working on the roof atm. I did a little on the black tower today but I've lost a bit of motivation on it, instead I've funneled it to tribune.
