Welcome to page 6

well, I can't deny that this CJ is incredibly user friendly and has some of the terraforming I've ever seen.  However, as much as I love natural landscapes, they work much better in real life than in Simcity and I'll stick with cities for the game.  Looking forward to that time.

Those two mosaics are really great. I have a little question: Could you tell all these people here what kind of mods are you using: terrain mod (cycle dogg...we all know 2.gif ) rock mod (I don't remember what was that...) and some tree modes (are those CSX??) Well, this time it's true I didn't notice any mistakes, good work jeronij! Despite the fact that it's only 6 pages and I really do not see any friends of SCR here (well maybe not any, but not much people...) beside me (38.gif) it's good to see your second CJ has potential, and it can easily be bigger than SCR. Well, if you do not have time to post the updates, at least there are some people that will post comments, o your CJ will be always on top. Oh, I would forget: Congratulations on page 6!! I have to admit I like the second mosaic more. Great work jeronij! Maybe some closer pics41.gif

Regards,
Slopept

p.s.
people, post some more comments! once again for the ducky ->40.gif

Jeronij-

I am semi-new to the ST site and so have not had the chance to really appreciate your Columbia Valley project as much as it obviously deserves.  I am thankful I stumbled into your new project so early in the process and will able to follow it's development.  It looks like you have a good start going on it.

I want to start my own city journal sometime in the future and so will be sitting at your feet, watching and learning from you.  I have a couple of questions I would like to ask right off the bat:

1.  What is the difference between Satellite View and Transit View AND how do you create these views for posting?  I need you to be technical, so if it takes to much time, you could refer me to a tutorial and I would be most grateful.

2.  What are Mosiacs and how do you create them?  And, not to be super stupid, what purpose do the mosiacs serve?

3.  How do you create the zooms of the regions and then post them?

As you can see, I am very new at many of what appear to me to be CJ basics.  However, like you, when I am playing a region in game, I usually terraform my own and plan things out in quite a bit of detail in advance.  It will be interesting to see how much alike and different yours and my thought processes run.

Let me answer those questions for you...
A.1 In satellite view you can see the cities, trees, etc. etc. in your region, and in transit view you can see only the roads, highways, railroads etc. etc. ansd you cannot see trees, etc. etc.

A.2 Mosaics are big pictures connected with other pictures, so you think that it is one big pic, but in real it's just few (for example 5 pics added to each other) to make a mosaic you have to use this html code:
<DIV align=center><IMG hspace=5 src=image address align=baseline></DIV>
<DIV align=center><IMG hspace=5 src=image address align=baseline></DIV>
<DIV align=center><IMG hspace=5 src=image address align=baseline></DIV>
<DIV align=center><IMG hspace=5 src=image address align=baseline></DIV>
<DIV align=center><IMG hspace=5 src=image address align=baseline></DIV>
<DIV align=center><IMG hspace=5 src=image address align=baseline></DIV>
<DIV align=center><IMG hspace=5 src=image address align=baseline></DIV>
<DIV align=center>&nbsp;</DIV>

And here is a mosaic that I've made:

m16yi.jpg
m25lz.jpg
m33oa.jpg
m46gs.jpg
m51wz.jpg
m66ko.jpg
m78em.jpg

3. You can use either Region Census program to kae them, or (if you have some time) use Print Screen Button and than resize it etc. etc. in a graphic program.
I hope that I have answered all your questions! If you have any more questions just ask 40.gif

Wow, first impression aha finally a mosaic of the city. At nearer approach It's Sloppet's. Nice as well greta use of SG canals.

Now Jeronij, I had to get back one page to Page 5 and look at the Mosaics. 46.gif STUNNING 46.gif
After I recovered, I had a closer look and I would like to suggest one thing; make the mountain tops in the Sa Mola range, between the plateaus a little bit less high and less steep. It gives the plateau a better natural look I would say.
Looking forward to your great work 16.gif

Where you have the downtown marked out, Jeronij. Simtropia is the most likely place for a city to pop-up. Maybe a port city, fishing or oil industry or something? Of course, that area could be a flood plain, then Columbia naval region would be more likely.

Cool the way you made each region stand out.

Jeronij!!! What great updates!!! Love that Mosaic by sloppet. Gotta learn how to do that! And also I vote that you build Simtropia first and then expand into the other regions. I love your planning in the highway! Beautiful work!

Great names and great and great graphic editting. What program do you use? I know that Paint Shop Pro costs a lot in North America. Also in sloppet's post there is a black path. What is that? Is it from the STEX? I belive I MIGHT have seen it in SCR but I'm not to sure. I would like you either doing Columbia or Simtropia first.

Good planning for the transit network as well for the futures cities amigo. This region will be a real challenge!

You asked for our opinion for a starting point. Id personally chose Columbia, why? Because it would be not so much of a big city as Simtropia, but not too small either! this way it could give a good base for tourism, commerce and industry to help the rest of the region to grow.

But I'm sure that any choice you make will give great results.

I've noticed that your transit network doesn't connect to the left and right side of your map, any reason why not?

Can't wait to see more!

Why not start on the harbor first? That would provide a nice anchor for the city.

Incidentally, I've noticed you misusing gently for a while. My guess is that there is some Spanish word that you've been translating it as that can mean several different words in English. On the last page (Thank you for all your thoughtful and gently comments) probably kind would have fit in better. I don't know the word you've beeen using, so I'm not completely sure.

Hehe. Page 6. 18.gif
That was extremely fast.

Well, for my nominee, I choose Simtropia. I am into a more realistic way of things. Usually cities start at the downtown.

But it is really up to you. Whatever you feel like. If you want flat, easy to build terrain, then choose Simtropia. If you want a challenge for city building and to make it an eye-candy, then choose some other place. 9.gif

Well, those are my big words.

And, I did in fact get a good (decent) grade in math. I was trying to figure something out in algebra, then I thought about Simtropia and jeronij, and in a flash, the answer popped in my head. Thanks! 29.gif

Now I have something to thank for in my speech. 18.gif

Great CJ, jeronij. Wonderful terraforming. 3.gif

Sorry about the long post,

Jeronij (and Sloppet)-

Thank you for the beginnings of the answers to my questions.  I tried to find the RegionCensus mod on the mod page here on ST but can't see it.  I may have found it once before and already downloaded it, I will check later to see.  Just in case, could either of you post a more direct link?

Not trying to be a dummy, but I'm still not clear about what the purpose of the mosiacs are, except to give zoomed views.  BTW Sloppet, your city looks gorgeous!

Jeronij, you ask us to suggest to you which region to start building on.  My vote is Ruralia.  In real life, cities become born to provide services to people who have moved into previously unused land and (usually) begin farming it.  I don't know if the game's mechanics allows us to build farming communities as stand-alones or not, but if not, it should.

Like probably everyone else, I am anxious to watch you perform your magic in building this new project, but at the same time, I like the idea of taking a holistic approach to growing a region.  I am currently working on a practice region, learning how to use modding tools and trying to grow my cities in a manner I think is realistic, i.e.  scattered, small rural settlements that grow slowly into more and more densly populated areas over time.

My second choice would be Bastiana, because I would love to see your son's work...

Here is a link to region census Link to region Census
Well, and I think th mosaic problem was resolved, but in few words it's just a big picture of your city, region etc. etc., and because here the pics can only be 800x600 so to make a big pic you have to add some pics to each other 16.gif
