The Disaster Journal

 

 

INTRODUCTION

 

No one fully knows the fury that Mother Nature can unleash. This is exactly what happened to the city of Commercial Venture. This city was destroyed by all of nature's disasters all together, From Fires to Volcanoes and from Lightning to Tornadoes. This was a true destruction that will remain in many Venturans hearts forever.

 

Commercial Venture is a city based on that of commerce and nothing else. The city is highly known for it's beautiful skyline which was destroyed forever. Now, the mayor is working on ways in which he can restore his vibrant city back to normal. This disaster was a disaster in which mankind had never faced. Luckily there were only 20 casualties since many people had heed the warnings and evacuated to nearby cities, and luckily this isn't a residential area and only a commercial area, but this disaster will bring down Maxisland

THE CALM BEFORE THE DESTRUCTION

YEAR 2076

 

 

Commercial Venture is a sprawling city of only commercial buildings. It's a commercial-based city only and you will not find any residents or industry in this city. It is the only source of economy for Maxisland, but shall it be destroyed by a severe attack in the future? Well lets take a deep look at some of the sites of Commercial Venture, prior to doomsday. In this update, well take a look at Commercial Venture.

 

As you can see, the city looks beautiful and is currently calm before the destruction. At this point no one in their right mind would think about facing Mother Nature, that's for sure, but it looks like they will all be wrong and Mother Nature will catch them by suprise. All those commercial buildings, well we'll just have to wait and see what will happen to them. The city still hasn't fully been developed yet after 176 years.

Here is a better look at Commercial Venture's Downtown before the unanticipated nature events occur. Looks a very nice city with staggering Commercial Buildings within it.

Well, that's is all for this slightly small update. What will happen next? Well stay tuned to find out.

Yes, that is the Maxis played region. I really don't like to destroy my own creations, so I used a Maxis made city. No offense to Maxis though...

SEISMIC WARNINGS

 

As always before a a major destruction, warning signs are always key. Before the first disaster, Commercial Venture, began to experience many warning signs. In this section, there will be no pictures, but a explanation of the warning signs of the beginning of the worst to come. It's really imperative that you read this section in order to understand what will occur in the future. There will be many times in this journal where there will be mini explanations and short stories, but not too frequently though as I know most of you like screenshots and don't like reading.

 

Commercial Venture began experiencing some warning signs, including some earthquakes that were 4.0 on the Richter scale. Buildings were able to withstand these mini earthquakes, but are they able to withstand what's to come? Another warning sign was a relatively high sulfur level in the ground near some of the highest points in Commercial Venture. Many seismologists and geologists worked together and noticed that Commercial Venture was highly geothermal, but why wasn't this find out before? It looks like the geothermic activity happened rather quickly. So therefore scientists weren't able to realize this and built on the geothermic land anyway. Signs show that this area has been geothermic before, but it winded down after the course of the years. In fact it winded down so much that it was simply un noticed. So that was the major mistake that the developers and the mayor as well made. He literally put his Sims in danger, but. Luckilly this isn't happen all over the region and it's only happening on the neighboring city of Centropolis, (where the sims live) which is Commercial Venture. One day the volcanic activity was now at it's limits and now it was time to react. The scientist had found a High Sulfur Dioxide content in the city's water supply and now things were becoming downhill. It would be the last day in which the city was in peace and at a standstill untill things became worse for a while. The mayor and the SimNation Department of Geological Study had declared a Volcanic Warning for the city of Commercial Venture.

 

Well that's is the explanation for what will occur in the future. We will see what happens next in a little while.

VOLCANIC FURY

 

 

Well, after the severe earthquakes, the worst has arrived and will remain that way for a while. Commercial Venture has never experienced a full disaster at all. This is the first extreme natural disaster to hit Commercial Venture, and a series of them await Commercial Venture. In this update we will take a look eyewitness photos from news helicopters and private services of the volcanic eruption, following the mini story.

 

It has been placed and it was correct, the volcanic warning given by the SimNation Department of Geological Study, has been correct and Commercial Venture will experience a Volcano. The volcano had erupted with full force and the lava spewed destroyed a nearby highway section and destroyed two businesses. Here are some pictures of the severe destruction.

This is the primary eruption of the volcano. This volcano is highly dangerous as it spews lava and also lavaballs just like meteorites. The city will now be under a state of emergency.

The eruptions continue. After a whole day of burning another eruption had follow at sunset. It's going to be a long night and this is only the beginning of Nature's Fury. Luckilly the volcanoes in this city don't have pyroclastic flows which destroy everything in their path, but they spew lots of lava, which are highly hot and dangerous. The lava melts and destroys everything in it's path. It's now to time to evacuate. Earthquakes from the volcanic eruption have damaged the water supply and gas lines are now ruptured and to top it all off, the volcanic eruptions had made the atmosphere unstable in commercial venture, creating the threat of severe thunderstorms with possible tornadoes with whiteout lightning. Fire is another factor too due to broken gas lines and leaks. Water Supply is distorted. Here are some more pictures.

The volcano keeps getting taller and taller. Lava flow is now going to begin as the slopes are very steep now.

 

 

The volcano is ravaging the night sky blocking off sunlight and moonlight and creating an air full of ash and debris.

 

 

The volcano had now been steep enough lava to flow now, this lava is extremely castastrophically hot. Anything caught in this will be incinerated in a matter of seconds. The buildings explode as soon as the lava touches them. The nearby highway has been partially destroyed.

 

 

The lava has been getting really close to the main city now. The buildings explode upon contact with the lava.

 

 

Here is a flow prior to the destruction at sunset.

 

Volcanoes continue to ravage the city. A third eruption of the same volcano had occured at dawn the next day. The volcano continues to erupt leaving ash falling non-stop on the city. The city was under a state of emergency. The mayor had no choice but to close the city to the public, those in the city must be evacuated immediately. Here are some pictures.

The after that final eruption, the volcano began to take a break to let Nature, give the city more of it's disasters. Now that the volcano is slightly begining to wind down and stop erupting, the citizens use their time wisely to gather any valuables they need and evacuate. The seismologist predict more eruptions in the near future, they even predict the next one will occur in Midtown with all those buildings in the way.

 

Now that the Mount Venture volcano is under control, did it now cause further natural disasters to occur in Commercial Venture or not? Is everyone safe now? Is everything over? Stay tuned for the answer.

POWER FAILURE

 

The answer to the previous question is NO. The city isn't under control and more is yet to come. This will be a new day of disaster for commercial venture as new things plague them. All the city's water mains have been broken due to the severe earthquakes and aftershock that continue to conquer the city. Gas mains have ALSO been broken and gas leaks means SEVERE FIRE OUTBREAKS. In this section we will take a trip through inferno.

 

 

The violent atmosphere triggered by the volcano induced lightning strikes. This is the very first lightning bolt strike to hit the city and of all the places for it to hit it had to be the city's main source of power. Which is the oil power plant depicted. Of course we all know now what will happen next.

 

 

The the power plant immediately catches fire due to the lightning strike and burns rapidly...

 

 

The fire continues into the night hours...

 

Unfortunately the fire fighters are busy assisting other fires within the city and keep in mind that this city has only 1 fire station which is all the way in Downtown Commercial Venture. The fires spread so quickly that they will not have time to beat the evacuation traffic and make it to the burning power plant on time.

 

 

Little windmills have also been plopped just incase the fire was to destroy the oil plant to provide back-up power, but the mayor was so disturbed that he placed them right next to the burning plant not knowing that if that plant explodes the others will catch fire or explode as well. A very poor decision made by the mayor.

 

 

The fire continues to incinerate the plant...

 

 

Now the windmill catches fire now.

 

 

The power plant now explodes and the remaining windmills catch on fire as well. The ones nearby however explode immediately.

The remaining windmill burns and explodes as well. The city is now without power.

 

The city's main power supply has been destroyed and now the city remains out of power. Now what will be the reactions to the sims and the city itself? Well we will find out tomorrow.

Thanks for all the replies everyone. There has been another update. To bad there isn't real news in the game. Like newscasts and stuff. I hope they put that in SimCity 5, but that will not happen anyway.

POWERLESS CITY

 

In this section there will be a brief story following the explosion of the power plant and what effects will occur. Let's read on.

 

Well, after the plant had been destroyed, the city was now facing a power crisis. The whole city was out of power. And water will not function without power, so now the city isn't functional and must be evacuated immediately. That is it. Many people considered the city to be a dead city which has died. All funding was cut in effort to close the city and not loose any money. All buildings have been evacuated and abandoned. Commercial Venture will now cease to exist. It is the end. The city had no water and no power and no funding. The Mayor also demolished roads that lead into the city so that it will not be accessible to citizens. IT was a highly dangerous place to be. Within 10 days the city had been fully evacuated and it was now considered a ghost town. All utilities that require funding were demolished. It was a ticking time bomb because it was a highly dangerous place to be and death could occur in the matter of seconds. Here are some pictures of the abandoned Commercial Venture.

 

 

In this picture you can see the evacuation process taking progress on the main highway. You can also see the blackmarks on the buildings from the ashes and dirt from the volcano. Earlier in the week.

All the streetlights have been off and the area where the powerplants used to be.

 

 

This is right after the destruction of the plants and the buildings were still up and the city wasn't under evacuation and the buildings weren't ashed up and dirty.

THE FIRST OUTBREAK

 

And so it begins, in this update, there will be major disaster that will occur for the first time in which damage will be done to the city and potentially continue. Let's read on to find out what actually occurs. There will not be any screenshots posted tonight but tomorrow there will be. Sorry for any inconvenience. But it's important to read the mini-story though. And you can take a look at an preview for tomorrow's update.

 

As we all know, the gaslines have burst due to the earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. Now what happens when electricity and gas come together? Explosion and Fire. Which is exactly what happens in Commercial Venture. Luckilly the Venturans evacuated before all of this occured. Electricity and Fire do not bode well, and many of you must be wondering how on earth could there be electricity when there isn't any source of power? Well Mother Nature has her own little electricity. Lightning. Lightning has been the cause for the major fire outbreak which occured. Now as we all know the Volcano had made the atmosphere in the city unstable so therefore lightning and tornadoes are at the high risk. These could happen any time. The sky couldn't hold up it's energy anymore and released it's bolts to the city. To start a major destruction.

 

Here is a preview of what's instore for tomorrow's update.

A TRIP THROUGH INFERNO III

THE SUPERLIGHT SHOW

 

 

Today we continue where we have left off. As we now know, lightning will be the cause for the next major disaster to hit the already abandoned Commercial Venture. Thanks to the Eyewitness Helicopters and news services these pictures were able to be taken and shown to the public. In this section, we will see the infamous lightning show of the century.

 

Well, now as we know, electricity and gas create fires. Commercial Venture will experience a fire like no city has ever experienced before. The lightning was extraordinary, there were many lightning strikes per second. It was known as the Light Show. Following the Light Show a major fire out break had occured, It has been known as The First Fire because it was the first fire that help significantly destroy the city and it was the longest and largest fast moving fire in duration. This section contains numerous amount of photos some with lengthy descriptions some without any at all. First we will take a look at the lightning and then in the next update we'll look at the First Fire.

 

 

It began with this strike. This strike was the first then after that then the light show had began. Some have even caused whiteouts in peoples eyes and cameras.

 

 

This one happened during the day. When the city wasn't abandoned. (Sorry for the unrealism in the streets)

 

 

This also happened during the day right after the last volcano had finished erupting.

THE FIRST FIRE OUTBREAK

 

 

Now that the lightning is over, the rage begins, the lightning strikes and show are now over and it's time to run as the fires are starting up. The lightning was literally an ignition for the fires to light up. In this update we will look at the city's first fire outbreak. This update is fairly lengthy and contains a lot of screenshots and some may have description and some may not. Sorry for any inconvenience.

 

 

The fire had began in the midst of evacuation. This is the begining of a long night....

 

 

The city is closed so the fire really can't be contained, the city is off limits to everyone. Except those who are evacuating. This is sad because the mayor simply ordered the city to be left alone with Nature and her challenges.

 

 

Each time a building explodes another one catches fire, leaving this as an endless fiasco.

 

 

Fires break out at Modde Inc.

 

Ajjanagade also gets hit. Any building that catches fire is considered dead, because there is simply no end to the flames especially with the broken gas lines.

The fire had destroyed many buildings so far and still isn't close to being ended. The neighboring buildings burn as the Ajjanagade collapses.

 

 

The Ajjanagade explodes and collapses... What on earth is that Sim doing there?

 

 

The sun rises and fires continue to burn... The Ajjanagades and Barthelet Coorporations ignite..

 

 

The Ajjanagades burn together with other buildings... When will this fire end? Is what many Sims questioned.

 

 

The fires burn the buildings with rage. There are petitioners also who are angry no one knows how they have entered the closed city. Some believed, that they just stayed there to wait the disaster out. That other sim just remains there.... (Must be in shock)

 

 

The towers continue to burn...

 

 

These fires are basically everywhere and never seem to stop, look at all the wreckage nearby this building.

 

 

The Cox Family courts begin to ignite as others explode...

The sun sets and fires continue recklessly...

 

 

More fire ignitions.

 

 

Will these fires ever end? They continue to burn. This has been known as the largest fire to ever hit a Downtown area and has lasted for so long with a 2 day duration.

This fire continues too. This isn't the end but it was a long fire outbreak for Commercial Venture. The city is nearly destroyed now. And to make matters worst, the unstable atmosphere begins to act up again. More lightning and even something worse is about to strike the city already under siege by Nature's Fury. What will happen next?
