Does anyone know if this cheat works? Do you have to keep reapplying it every time you start the game? Than in advance for your response.

howdryiam, written exactly as shown , works very well on any size map and you do NOT have to repeat it when you have saved and re-enter the citytile. Typing it again will only end the cheat and the gameplay goes back to normal. Same goes for " fightthepower " which I use almost all the time.

The utilities adviser will continually complain about it though, despite not being a problem. My solution is to download a "cheater" lot which can be very small (or at least attractive) and very cheap, and use that to water/power your whole city. I used to use fightthepower (but not howdryiam) all the time, but I finally got tired of the warning popping up and decided to go a different route.

I NEVER had any advisor complain about this in my game, when I use either howdryiam or fightthepower. I don't know, but it could be that I have "something" in my Plugins that prevents this?

Yeah, I don't know if it was a bug or if you had something that "fixed" it in your downloads, but until I started using the "cheater" lots, periodically the utilities adviser would pop up screaming at me in his angry red box, even though all my buildings are powered. I'm jealous you never had that problem!

Hi, I'm a bit late to this topic, I'm relearning how to play. How do you tell if the cheat is working? I put in both howdryiam and fightthepower but nothing seems to happen. I still get fires, people are still screaming at me, and it's just all around confusing. Do you have any suggestions or tips? At this point I don't know if I've reset it too many times and don't know if I'm turning it on or off.

The efficacy of those cheats is sketchy at best. I've been using this set for years and have 0 problems, no matter what size city-

Wouldn't use the exploding power plant, unless you're into destruction.

Fires still happen with both. However, you can still prove the cheats work by plopping large buildings that consume tons of power and water, or let the city develop into high-rise mess.

Thanks, all. I have been wondering how to implement this. The Utilities never made sense to me. Cities don't pay for utilities, customers do. Cities might pay for the infrastructure initially, but not a monthly thing. And rural communities along a river should not need city water to develop. I will try these cheats and cheater lots to overcome these issues.
