Hey folks, it's been a couple years off the 'wagon' but seeing all these great faces return and all the beautiful uploads recently has inspired me. So here I am to contribute myself to this beautiful forum with my own work, that hopefully will be of some value. To start things off, here's a building I've had forever, still with much to be done. Based on the Clearwater Main Library in Clearwater, FL, for anyone who wants to look it up or whatever; and no, the roof is NOT red. I had a texture on it that was blue but it was all misaligned, and I didn't want one texture distracting people so they say 'you should work on that roof texture!' Lol, so anyways...

Yes these are done in gmax, years ago before I had this awesome 'gaming' (hardware heavy; 8gb RAM, 1gb 6870m GPU, 120gb Intel 510 SSD, Intel i7 2630qm) PC, but I DO have 3Ds Max Design 2012 64bit for Windows 7. But there is a problem that I'm hoping the BAT4MAX users can help me with, it occurs when I try to install Simfox's wonderful tool; it won't work! Is this anything to do with administrative privelages? (xyloxadoria brought that up in chat).

Check the BAT4MAX thread, I think it was resolved in there.

I believe it has something to do with the administrative privileges.

Go to start, control panel, User Accounts and family safty and then user account can click on user account control settings, you should see this picture be low, on default the bar should be at near the top, to stop the BAT4 Max install trouble move the bar ate the bottom where it says Never Notify.

Thank you especially Aaron, that was indeed the problem, I feel silly for not remembering that work around, haha. Anyways, after looking at the library from Google Earth's Streetview, which I didn't have back then...there's quite a few details I missed. Glad I caught them. I may go down to this spot tomorrow (it's actually pretty close) and take some pictures of my own for reference. Can never have enough reference photos!

I remember there being some sort of way to move gmax files to Max so I'm looking into it. But I might just build the model from scratch. We'll see.

Jasoncw: Haha, thank you for changing the thread title! It certainly has been a while, and I'm glad I didn't outright delete this project! It's definitely worth working on imo; never enough BATs around here.

Ok so a small update, I drove down to the lot today to take pictures of the building from all angles for reference. There were many details I missed right away, simply because I couldn't make it down the building and without Google streetview I had to guess on many of the building's features. But since I moved to an apartment closer to the building, I have my own digital camera and car, there's no reason for me not to get this building absolutely right! I may even go on some weekends to the library's cafe, where I can plug in my laptop and work on the building from there...would be the perfect place to do it!

Also, I've decided to remodel the building entirely in 3ds Max, as I suspect I may have even messed up some proportions...now for the tedious task of measuring everything, oh how fun.
