What happened to official simcity website?

Hi, I'd like to know what happened to the simcity.ea.com/exchange/lots website. I tried to access it and my Internet Explorer doesn't let me in.

Let me know if you have any info.

Thanks.

Oscar

It's almost a 100% guarentee that the official site won't come back. But like TekindusT said, whatever you needed there you can get here so the loss of that site shouldn't be too much of a burden to anybody.

I was looking for the terrain generator from the official site and then it went down. Is it here or on SC4D? It's ok if I can't get it, but it would be cool to get real terrain in the U.S. :)

Many American regions are now available on the STEX, thanks to brilliant map making teams such as the NHP, and other 'solo' members.

When the site was up, I never even got the terrain generator to work, personally...

Hmmm.....When a gamesite closes it doors, it means that the game is NOT supported anymore....does that mean it becomes "freeware" ? I mean, can we now fool around with the corefiles?

We are not allowed to discuss that on this site.

The site is not gone. It just takes forever and a day to connect to it.

Apparently EA knows that it is down and they are working on fixing it. It must be an employee's kid fixing it because this is taking forever!!!

I am almost certain that it is down. I remember when they took The Sims 1 official site down. It took forever to load, and finally, one day, the URL was "not found." In fact, the site went down shortly after I called (then e-mailed) EA for help with registration. Their technical support doesn't seem to pay much attention to SC4 anymore. The EA e-mail guy's name was spelled two different ways!!

Anyways, I wouldn't expect the site to come back up. I personally got most of the EA downloads from this site. There is a user who got permission from EA to post the extras on Simtropolis.

I shed no tears for the official exchange being gone. It's the Mos Eisley of SC4 exchanges out there...

I surfed through it years ago when I first purchased SC4 and before I had stumbled upon Simtropolis, and even then I felt like taking a shower afterwards; the sheer ratio of bad uploads to good uploads was pretty sad.

Well if it does become freeware the NAM team should be able to do some really cool things. :) It just annoys me on how lazy EA is and that they don't seem like they care at all about Simcity 4. If the website does go down it probably won't be noticed much. Simtropolis will keep Simcity going!

Well I have tried 5 times just now... It doesn't even take long to load, it just goes to a page that says this-

"The page you requested was not found..

You may have clicked an expired link or mistyped the address. Some web addresses are case sensitive"

I even went to SCS website to go to the link to the Sim City 4 website... it did the same thing... I think it is officially dead... Sad day... lots of memories on that site...
