Long answer: The way the game works, (to the best of my knowledge of it) is that stations need to be placed on straight sections of rail, either straight or diagonally straight. Intersection lots i think are too complicated to incorporate a station.

But hey, I'm not an egghead about the game. This thread should really be shown to the NAM Team who knows all about the game's transportation networks.

There are several of them. Just search for "ill Tonkso" or "ITS", who has created some very nice terminal stations.

You can find also real life stations, like Gare du Nord in Paris, Kings Cross and St. Pancras' in London...
