Does it happen only on a certain region or all the time? Are you doing anything else or any other program running while the game renders the map?

It happens on any region I try it on; no, I am not running anything else other than SimCity 4.

Try resuming the render. It will continue from where it died.

Meanwhile, we really do need to see your computer details.

From the dump you are running XP with 1MB of RAM on SC4 rush hour with only the EP1 update. It is a standard zero pointer fault. If it is a large map, you probably did run out of memory.

With your computer description tell us how big your swap file is. On XP, I am not sure more paging space would save you.

How large is the region? Have you made sure that the greyscale size matches the config size?

For comparison, I've rendered a 33x21 region before using a Pentium 4 2.8Ghz processor with 512mb of RAM running Windows XP, which I'm fairly sure is slower than your computer.

Maybe the greyscale is somehow corrupted? Can you point a link to the greyscale, or post a picture yourself? Doing this for the config would be nice as well.

Did you have the screen saver turned on? Always turn off the screen saver before rendering regions.

I solved the problem now guys. It probably was either that I don't have enough RAM or that my screensaver was not disabled. WHat I did do was go on SC4 Terraformer and import the greyscale image and it works. Thanks for the advice anyways!
