So, this is going to be my first try at a CJ. I’ve wanted to do this for a long time, and now is the time. Only thing is… I’m going to need a little bit of help from my friends – that’s all of you.

Based on the Port-au-Prince region by blade2k5 I have slightly modified it and have come up with Brunswick Valley.

So basically, I’m going to start out at one spot – that's Barnstead to the east - and I’m gradually going to expand my civilization all over the region. This is where all of you come in. Via polls YOU will have the role as Region Council and decide whether or not I shall build in spots I point out. More or less :)

By the way – I’m not the most skilled of city builders. That is partly why I want to involve you as much as possible. Oh, and I still have a lot of Maxis stuff even though I downloaded a sh*tload of stuff from STEX and the LEX. If there’s some buildings you would like me to download because they would fit in nicely? Then let me know and post me a link – I’ll put it in my city.

Feel free to suggest anything to make the city better and more realistic. I'm open to almost anything.

I will explain the history of the region along the way, and I hope you'll stick around to get to know it.

Enjoy!

EDIT: I almost forgot. I was greatly inspired to do this CJ by the Franklin County CJ. Wanna make sure to give due credit.

The Region was first discovered by Marcus Brunswick back in 1272. Today it serves as nothing more than a crossroads region, where Interstates 5 and 14 meet. The only town in the region is Barnstead with just over 1000 inhabitants because most of the region serves as a national park. Recently the President declared, however, that the Dreyfuss National Park would be decimated. That means the allocation of building lots all over the region, and that will - in turn - mean that there will be a lot more than 1000 inhabitants in the region. A lot more.

A view of the only neighborhood in Barnstead. The local school is where all the kids go during the day.

The adults - most of them - go to work in the farms just outside the town.

And some? Some work at the power plant, which draws power from the nearby river.

    UPDATE 2

    Inhabiting Dreyfuss National Park

    Hello again everyone :)

    First off: Replies!

nathanthemayor: Thank you very much :)

Schulmanator: Thanks for the kind words. Not even sure what to do with it myself yet.

x493x: I can't wait either :P Hope you'll stick around to witness the outcome :)

Since the president decided that Dreyfuss National Park would be no more, there have been numerous demonstrations and protests in the capital to the far east of the country.

Now President Shotton have given an explanation as to why he would allow Dreyfuss National Park to be inhabited:

"Through many nights I have been sleepless over this nation's severe financial problems. After talking to all my advisors, the vice president, my fellow politicians and my family, I have decided, that the only course of action is to allow Dreyfuss National Park to be inhabited to cause an economic boom to the region and the country. Now this is no easy task. And therefore I will have none better than my best region planner, George Henderson, to oversee this great project."

So since this is also known as a Mayor Diary, I will now take up the role as George Henderson, and give updates through his point of view. But first, a few pictures since the first update.

    u2p1.jpg

Since the first update, Barnstead has grown a little. In addition, a new settlement - Maxwell - has been founded to the east, and the two towns have quickly made connections through agriculture

    u2p2.jpg

Central Maxwell. Notice the central parking lot with the fire station. In the bottom of the picture you might catch a glimpse of the Brunswick River.

    u2p3.jpg

Maxwell have quickly developed a small industrial area.

    u2p4.jpg

Back in Barnstead, a rich family has settled down an opened a large ranch.

As I promised, you will all play the role as Region Council. George Henderson will be the mayor of the region, and as such, George Henderson will be the one to come up with suggestions for future projects.

    rw.jpg

And so, here is the first one: In the picture above: President Shotton have already decided to link up Maxwell and Barnstead with the rest of the country by rail (that's the red line).

To ensure the fast establishment of a well working economy in the region I am proposing to extend the rail network all the way to the west coast (the blue line).

Upon that I am proposing the establishment of a small city and harbor - that's the Hampton Harbor project (blue circle). This will ensure, that cities can develop along the rail network.

In time I desire Hampton to be the region capital, but we will see how things pan out. First things first. I need your votes to make this happen. So vote now. For or against the following:

    1. Railroad project 2
    2. Hampton Harbor project

I'm not sure how to set up polls, so you'll be better off just voting when commenting :) And please, do comment. See you soon.

    UPDATE 3

Rail Road Project - Step 1 complete

    Replies!

Mikeaut1: Well you got some more right here.

Schulmanator: Thanks for voting. I completely agree with you.

Animaniacs: Thanks, I've been at it for a while. Just didn't know how I should start my CJ :)

    u3p1.jpg

The new railroad crosses the Brunswick river into Maxwell. That is Brunswick Valley's connection to the rest of the country.

    u3p2.jpg

Going out of Maxwell, the rail road crosses through the rural areas on its way to Barnstead.

    u3p3.jpg

Barnstead and Maxwell are now pretty well connected.

Didn't get a lot of votes on the projects, but it is decided with three votes against nil, that the Hampton Harbor project will be started shortly.

    Stay tuned.

    - I would have posted this update yesterday, but Simtropolis broke down on me. I will be back soon with another update - and soon some more urban development :)

Please, feel free to comment and suggest ;)

    UPDATE 4

    Hampton Harbor

    Replies!

    vivydu29: Appreciate it, thanks. :)

    Chapter 1 - Hampton Harbor

Since the Hampton Harbor Project was adopted things have been happening fast in Brunswick Valley. The population in Hampton Harbor has already reached more than 10.000 people, and George Henderson - the Region Planner - has moved in. Here's what he has to write in his diary.

    Dear Diary.

Wow, things is developing quickly around here. It seems like only yesterday I brought my plans for developing the region before the Region Council. And now Hampton Harbor is swiftly growing. It will not be long before we have to expand even further on the coast, I am sure of that.

I am excited about the prospect of this city. I believe Hampton can soon enough become the region capital. In time maybe even capital of the whole country. Gah, what am I thinking? Stop dreaming, George!

Who knows? Maybe this city will soon be home of some of the largest corporations and the richest people in the country or even the world. But I have to make sure, that I keep a tight grip on everything around here, if I don't wanna screw up.

    u4p1.jpg

I gave the people a church. And the soft ball field will make good use for the kids around here. However I am a little concerned that this idyllic town will soon be a sprawling metropolis. For good or bad though?

    u4p2.jpg

Hell, it has already begun with the construction of the Russo Building overlooking Harbor Lake. I can't complain though, since I own the Penthouse myself.

    u4p3.jpg

Maybe wanna do something about the view though. Not too fancy with the harbor. Could be nicer, but this is why we built the city after all. Maybe I should just move.

    rw.jpg

Hmm, let me see if I can point out a good spot on the map. Maybe further north? It would be nice to have some kind of commercial downtown area near Brunswick Point. Hmm yes, I will have to make plans for that. And the highway and raillines must extend too. Otherwise Hampton will be nearly cut off from the rest of the world. I will make that suggestion right away!

The next couple of days, George put action behind his words, and completed the plans for a new commercial district up north. On the sixth day he drove to Shark City (the Capital) to present the plans to the Region Council.

Ladies. Gents. Thanks for taking the time to see me today. You all know we got a lot of work ahead of us in Brunswick Valley, and to ensure the continued development of the region, I have come up with new ambitious plans for the coastal area. Take a look here.

    rw-t.jpg

As you can see, I am proposing the development of a new business district that will bring even more money to the already thriving city of Hampton. I deem it necessary to make clear to President Shotton, that I am not in this for fun. I want to do this, to bring better economy to our country. So I ask of you, that you decide on this proposition right away, so that I can give word to my architechts and city engineers that they got more work to do.

    Thank you.

So now. I would love you to vote: Are you for or against plans to develop the new commercial district and connect it via highway and rail? Vote now :P

Please, feel free to comment and suggest ;)
