Wow, this is one hell of a mod!! I just downloaded it and I love it, I've used it in so many places, it is just so useful! I really look forward to when it has some more interchanges and an easier way to connect it to your transport network. I just love the RHW so much!!! Thankyou guys for giving us this great addition and it looks just so realistic.

It has already found a home in Green Depra as a stunning and realistic highway. I have just finished the update wich will include this and so I thank you guys so much for giving us this!

Here is a sample of what I've done with this fantastic mod!!

Well thanks to everyone for the comments so far...I just got around to using it a bit myself recently. During testing, I never really made real cities, just either ones with tons of road combinations all over them or 2-minute layouts comprised of Residential on one side, Commercial and Industrial on the other, with RHW connecting them. It got pretty blah. But now I can do this:

    small01a3tr.jpg width=717 alt=Image Host
Yeah, I know, the tram tracks are a bit unrealistic, but it sure is fun just to sit and watch.

Right now, I'm working on fixing errors in the first version, but I'm pretty much done with that and beginning work on new stuff. Most of it was by request or natural logic (road intersections, highway transitions, Y-mergers and splitters, the road conversions from the last couple pages), but I also have some awesome secret projects I'm going to reveal over the next week or two.

PS: If anyone payed attention to the GLR thread, they may know what cutting edge modding developments I've been researching recently. 3.gif

chocolatemax285: I guess that proves the golden rule...seeing as Green Depra was one of my first nominations when the booths opened! We here at RHW Headquarters are honored to be able to find development work in regions such as yours. 2.gif

    Heh...RHW Headquarters...sounds like a 90's TV sitcom...

Sorry of topic, but that's the first pictures I have seen with one of my lightrail trains on. 29.gif
That helps on my mood, just seeing that. I have run into problems with my newest train.

    Thanks qurlix.

Glad I could help! Can't help you with the weird invisible front textures though...I'm notoriously good at screwing up with modelling and rendering and all of that stuff. Nowadays I only agree to help with something once it's in DAT form! 3.gif

I like those particular cars cause they're much brighter than the depressing default inner-city el-rail trains. I still occasionally work on automata and LUA programming (I don't believe it when they say it's impossible to create two separate train variants without mixing cars). I guess it was my just me returning to my modding roots.

One thing on-topic: Hooray! I figured out a way to make neighbor connections function! (they don't in the current release) It requires three tiles and a clever trick on the game, but it sure is better than nothing. 39.gif

Wow ! Nearly 175 downloads already... at least I know the site is most-likely working 18.gif

Great news about neighbour connections... but if we want a really temporary workaround, just transition to avenues before 'crossing-over', then transition back across the border.

Qurlix, you might as well start sending me a list of things that need to be done, because I have very wierd time-management... but giving me about 2-4 weeks to do something, and not getting it done, is impossible. Just think I'm sending it via post... damn, just when you thought it couldn't get any slower...

    No wonder Internet caught-on... 18.gif

I don't have road over rhw puzzle piece.  Is there something blatantly obvious that I missed? (please tell me there is)
    quote>
If you can't find it, it is located under the road puzzle pieces. But you have to have the Network Addon Mod (NAM) for the puzzle pieces button to appear.
Qurlix: Did you get my message? Would it be easier to have it all combined or not? I'm seeing it as a perfect solution as soon as the text and the icon is updated for it.

Sounds like folks are having fun with the new mod. I just loaded up, but I get nothing but 2-lane roads when I build the RHW. I tried building two carriageways side-by-side, but it's still 2-lane roads.

qurlix, thank you very much for your comments! Thats really good that you can make neighbor connections now.

Please don't think of this as an ad, but I have just completed an update in Green Depra which is entirely about the RHW mod! It is dedicated to you qurlix, and you even have a tiny role in my story! 18.gif The update is here , just scrole down the page to the bottom to find it. I hope you all enjoy your first CJ inclusion, because I'm sure there will be many more to come! 19.gif And to everyone else its a chance to see what you can do with the mod. BTW, its quite a large update with 19 pictures all of RHW!

    Take care, guys. 9.gif

    RHW DOWNLOAD MIRROR
If you live in Europe (Or anywhere on the east side of Atlantic Ocean for that matter), I'd recommend to use this link instead od the one on the site. I've contacted nooneatall, who is in charge of the site, about this but have so far not got any response, so I decided to upload the file anyway.

RHW download mirror (Finland) File size: 434 kb

    ---------------------
@wxstorm That's weird... Are you sure you have the ANT plugin file from NAM and RHW mod file (RHW-public-v012.dat) installed in your plugins folder? The tool can be accessed ingame in the Highway submenu, if you don't know that already.

@chocolatemax285 *clap clap* That's an awesome way to show the mod in action! 3.gif Actually I think those would make great screenshots even for the official site. Thank you for that! Others will surely like it, too.

@All Thank you for your wonderful comments!

I re-installed the NAM/ANT mods into my Plugins folder and the RHW mod is working now. Thanks for your help.

Highway 77 in my city, Ploesti, is my first RHW. It's history in the making!

    @wxstorm: Yeah, that's what I had to do. 2.gif

I can make an EXE installer for the next one for you guys if you want. I just downloaded the trial for InstallShield 11; why, I do not know, just looked cool to try... (hurry, expires in 15 days! 3.gif)

1dera3: me and qurlix were actually discussing this earlier. Except, we won't be using an installer till at least the next release (sometime around the new year, possibly ?)

Zeddic: how did you try contacting me ? 3.gif
I haven't gotten any PMs or emails from you... at any rate, I'll try to slightly edit the download script so that it can alternate between mirrors from what the user chooses. Wow, maybe making a very complicated and (then) pointless download script wasn't in vain 22.gif

I'll contact you when I have time about this. I may be selling (this) computer, so it may take a little time, depending.

I've been experimenting w/ the RHW quite a bit, trying to find a way for it to fit into my grid region experiment.

And, I've found it - as a high capacity, high speed frontage road for near interchanges:

    http://img510.imageshack.us/img510/1458/rhwusage5wi.jpg

Something we may want to work on in the next version is the median crosser thingy under elevated highway . . .

I think we need to change the median connecter to two lanes, since paths for both are going in the same space.

And other than essentials, the only thing I need to report is that when UDIing, the RHW-Ground Highway kicks you out of it.

Well, uh, RHW-Ground Highway wasn't really supposed to be included. Does yours even show 3d models for it? I was having troubles at the time getting the models to show, so I tried to remove it. I guess I didn't do so well at deleting it, huh? But it will be functional in next version.

ryanb_sc4: Hate to burst your bubble, but median-crosser under highway is impossible.

    1dera3: Nice stuff, but I don't think we'll be ready in 15 days!3.gif

Well that would explain it! I just thought it looked like the avenue connection just because no suitible textures were done at the time.

By the way qurlix, I noticed it your screenshot back there that your GLR-Road pieces had crossing gates... How did you get those? I thought only the avenue crossing had them.

    quirlix:  Drat.  Oh, well.

Oh, and in case we wanted to attempt a two - lane ( one lane each direction ) median crosser, I made a texture for its intersection.  Let me know if this is something we can work on.

I created a rendering of an onramp transition for the RHW in Paintshop Pro, textured for a concrete road surface and asphalt shoulders. I used the same lane dimensions as the RHW striaght pieces (see Page 12 of this thread). Not sure if it's useful, but feel free to use it if you can work with it. File is attached below. 37.gif

chocolatemax285: I've read your CJ, a totally awesome CJ! Your city goes along perfectly with those rural highways!
Sry... can I ask a question? Where do you get those trees? They look great!

Well, I am here actually to say a big thank you 44.gif to those how invested hundreds of hours in creating the rural highway. I've tried it out in my city, and it adds a rural touch to my city! I live in Malaysia, where the North-South Highway is 4 lane wide (2 lane for each way of traffic)... and the texture is perfectly the same as the highway over here!

Despite being horrified of ST having been hacked, I guess it's time to post here after a few days...

@nooneatall What?! I'm sure I sent you a PM about it. Strange things occur nowadays. Well, message me back when you have time. Mean while, people can use the link above.

@wxstorm I doubt that'll be particularly useful. I appreciate your attempt, but as far as I know we're not going to do any particularly big ramps. We'll see.

@terrymunweihao Thank you for my part, too; I'm glad you find it useful.
