All countries, all regimes all worlds are welcomed to take part in the Al Jakkab World Expo

Al Jakkab is organising the world expo 2011 and participants are needed, do you have what it takes to takes part ?

it's quite simple,

1-do you have a city or a CJ ?

if yes, then you are entitled to take part, any city/country is allowed to take part! so be a part of it !

Procedures

Applying : Send me a PM or a comment on my profile with,

1-the name of the city/country to expose

2- A pavilion (building from the STEX/LEX of your choice, not to big!)

3- 3 pictures of your city/country you want to expose and some facts

4-A link to a CJ if it exists

Participants may only expose 1 city/country but may have to on special demand, if so tell me in the same PM as the application,

July 1st - 2 September official time

Your nation will be exposed in this CJ in the old & new CJ thread from the 3 July onwards!

I look forward to see your applications, next update we take a look at the plot, what the architects and planners have imagined

Construction continues..

Construction continues, some pavilions are finished but others are still renders and drawings, but all will be done in time

Many Pavilions will be placed around an artificial creek in which people who wish can swim

The airlines take advantage aswell....

Grand Opening

Music was being played before the the opening happened,

The Emir made a speech on peace prosperity and open minded thoughts, a speech the journalists from the "Eye of the Emir" will surely talk of in tommorows issue

shortly after the music started

1 - Theme pavilion

The pavilion is one of the major permanent Expo structures. After the event ends, it will be turned into an exhibition center and become part of a new commercial heart of the city that will include the Al Jakkab Pavilion, the Expo Center and the Performance Center.

Mohammed Ibn Daddi said construction of the pavilion began on November 10 last year and was be completed in June

The energy-efficient Theme Pavilion will cover 80,000 square meters above ground, and another 40,000 square meters underground. Exhibitions will spread over 70,000 square meters. The major exhibition hall covers 30,000 square meters and the other two halls are big enough to accommodate four large passenger aircraft, said Daddi.

The Theme Pavilion will be Al Jakkabs largest exhibition hall,

The major themes of the event will be illustrated by five key points - city beings, urban dwellers, urban planets, footprints and dreams.

The Theme Pavilion will exemplify the relationship between cities, human beings and the Earth.

The Theme Pavilion is one of five permanent "green" constructions at the Expo site, along with the Science Pavilion, the Expo Center, the Performance Center and the Expo Boulevard. Most of the pavilions will be dismantled after the 2010 event.

Utopia Forever is a collection of current projects and concepts from architecture, city planning, urbanism, and art that point beyond the restrictions of the factual to unleash the potential of creative visions. In contrast to the largely ideal-theoretic approaches of the past, today’s utopias take the necessity for societal changes into account. The projects in this book explore how current challenges for architecture, mobility, and energy as well as the logistics of food consumption and waste removal can be met.
