Anno 2070, first toughts

I have played the demo so many times I became a semi-expert. I decided to preorder.

I wrote this up for a Anno Fan site I am a member of , figured I'd post it here too. Its just a consolidation of posts above and links.

I am pretty sure its going to be hard to find a boxed copy, as I haven't even seen a mention of a physical copy for us in the United States anywhere.

For some reason, all I could download was a text file that said, "This is your download." That was very odd. OK, now the link is up. I downloaded it but nothing seems to be happening from the download manager.

EDIT: OK, now the download manager is working. The problem is that it is very slow and the download is very big.

2nd Edit: I have finished the first campaign and started the second. I chose to settle on an Eco island because Techs are sensitive to Smog as much as Ecos.

I succeeded in mission 2 of campaign chapter 2. My eco balance was +20 but I decided to do a continuous mode game before I tried mission 3 (seeing as F.A.T.H.E.R. went flat out omnicidal insane and separated his ark from the city and the mission was to rally the troops of all factions against him).

Quite a few SimCity 4 players bought this as their first Anno game or first Anno preorder or first deluxe edition of an Anno game. The main gripes are lack of player decorations (the AI's have tons of decorations but only harbor walls can be copied), lack of building variety, some errors, and differences from Anno 1404 (such as all the advanced options being hidden behind the command console while the simplified "choose faction," "choose island size," and "choose difficulty" (AI aggression or helpfulness and distribution of natural resources) are what the common player sees without pressing a special button (that is easy to find if you know what it is).

is it mission 1 2 3 or 4? I've played through all 4 now but didn't got to any problems concerning (farm?)fields.

there's twice a part where you gotta build (farm)fields to satisfy your population. In general, remember to actually place the fields and not just the farm (just like with any anno game). but keep in mind that fields, this day (I don't know about the previous anno as I only played the 1s and 2nd), have to be placed one by one as they are not free in shape, plus that the farms are limited to a certain number of fields. You can build more but I don't know what happens.

if this is not the problem, you might miss some other requirements. check on the left where your messeges are. mission related messeges show what you gotta do to complete it (including a blinky blinky on the map).

Don't post here too often, but I gotta say this game is awesome! Addicitive as heck. There's a new patch out today that adds quay walls and decorations. Still heard there are some bugs, but I haven't encountered any so far.

I just got this as my Christmas Present to Myself. Really Addictive so far played over 10 hours consecutive from the word go.

Was Smashing through the Campaign until I finished Chapter 2 Mission 1, Got the cutscene and the score screen. Went to play mission 2 and it wasn't available. Kind of annoying anyone else have this bug?

I don't have that bug but I played mission 1 a couple times to get higher and higher scores.

I understand that this is a SimCity 4 site, but I'd seriously look into Anno 2070 for a SimCity substitute (or along with, you know what I mean). Graphics and gameplay look much better than SimCity 4, and I'm hopefully going to get it for my birthday in 2 weeks. What do you guys think of the game?

I've accumulated 84 hours in a week of playing the game... It's really addicting. It's kind of difficult though, it took me a while to make a big city on easy and I tried playing the game on hard and it was literally impossible.

I like it quite a lot though Anno is a strategy city builder so it has a topic in the City Builder section.

During my break, I would play for hours on end (only stoping after E.V.E. warns me I have been playing for 6 hours. Now that winter quarter has started, all I can do is vote, do the daily current event quest, and possibly do a little research at the same time.

it is a very nice game, only should ubisoft put a bit more afford in their custom content, the new items in the latest patch are worthles and way to expensive.

Sorry for bumping this forum, but my game keeps showing up like this, with no land or buildings seen. Only flora and water are seen, and graphic settings are Medium and low. How can I fix this?

looks like your graphic card needs upgrade - best is go to offical forums for help

The servers for Ubisoft are being moved or something like that. I guess they were put back up already.

It is in the German forums but there is a way to have everything translated into English.
