Ok, let's start:

- the NAM download (obviously 2.gif ), including download mirrors (such as mine, see useful links in my sig)
- a short version history (i. e. What's new?)
- a short FAQ covering the most important stuff
- the readme files as online version, for reference
- tutorials on how to use it (see Tropod's tutorial thread)
- links to NAM-related stuff on the STEX, such as the GLR stations
- links to the NAM support and discussion threads on ST

So far so good.........

If I was a new member though, I would have to ask where would I find such a site 42.gif. So a link in your first post might be a good idea 2.gif.

What about, different online language versions of the docs? For example click on English you get English docs. Click on Deutsch you get Deutsch docs & so on. Maybe use an (decent) online translation service or something?

What about pictures of every type of intersection that can be made with the NAM and how to make it step by step, to help those who have just downloaded the new NAM. This would be very helpful even to non-sc4 noobs, like myself, who just found out a few days ago about some of the intersections that can be made.

And not just pics of one piece of the puzzel.  The pics should be more like small CJ type pics, that way you can see a few different pieces together or just one type of piece.  That's my two-cents...would be easier to comment on though if we knew what YOU already had planned or in the works... 29.gif

Yeah, seeing the site would help with suggestions, but a site for the nam would be cool. Good idea, and good luck!

ok, good start, here are my responses :

Andreas Roth :    mirrors : good idea, i will have to add these, the site already has a download section.
history : the site has  great news section which automatically updates because it is attached to an update thread it reads from.
faq : the site has a faq section, but i havent updated it yet.
readme's : of course there will be the readme's, lol
tutorials : there is a great tutorial forum there, my question to tropod, will you moderate this section?
links : i will provide all appropriate lnks because the NAM has other peoples work in it and i have to give proper credit.
links to st : links will be provided along with the info we have over there.

Tropod :   i will provide a link soon enough, but there is no need to right now, all you will get it a site under maintnance flash screen.
languages : i will implement a option to select site language, it is a bit glitchy though, i need to work on this.

Dupontfan24 :    picture of all intersections : great idea, how much time do you have? lol with wotking on the site and other things, site is very time consuming, it is amazing, i dont have time do the pictures, but was really wanting this for the site. if you can and want to, would you be able to do this, you can mod the section where the pictures will be poste, you have an ok trackrecord with st already, so, i trust you.

conclusion to this post, thanks for all the input, more is needed though, and if i asked something of you in this thread, i am also pming you my email addy so you can contact me further about this via that way, i check it more often then st these days with the nam site and all. also, if you want to contribute in any other way, and have a unique idea, or want to help with something someone may have already mentioned, pm me and let me know.

You should have a posting section just for pics and their creators name so people can show off what they have done with the NAM.

I have a web server with over 1 GB of space available, and a high bandwidth allowance (it's a business server). So, I would be more than happy to provide a mirror for any NAM download. If interested, PM me and I will be happy to arrange it. 1.gif

Newyorkrunaway1: That's fine, I can use the extra time to get more of it ready, are the pictures I sent you what you were looking for? Yesterday I finished the pictures of the EL-road, EL-avenue, EL-one way road, and EL-rail over road pieces, and intersection layouts.

it was a good start, what i am really looking for though, is individual pictures of each function of the NAM so people can see and be guided as how to get that if they dont already know.

OK!!! Great news everyone, the only thing left to do with the site now is add the content, all bugs that can be fixed at this time have been fixed and it is open to the public for viewing only right now. you can look at the site, but wont be able to register yet, so be patient, i dont want people to register at this time. You will get to very soon. accessability is limited also since you cant register, but comment on the site over here. check it out!!! http://www.stnam.com

dupontfan : pm or email me, i have your login info and i need to tell you how to get in

edit : PLEASE DO NOT REGISTER!!!! If you register, your registration will be deleted and you will have to re-register again when the site opens. Please do not register until the site is fully functional. The reason the site is open now is to give you a chance to view it only. Thank You!44.gif

Your site looks great.  I agree with others that a basic step-by-step tutorial with pictures would be a great addition.  How about a section where others can add pictures of their designs with a how-to tutorial?  Like the CJ's here. That would save you from having to do it and make the site member driven.  Great job that will go along way to making the NAM an effective must-have tool.  Thanks for all your hard work. 10.gif
