Nice start but you need to add more details. Think on what other elements you find in this kind of houses. I can think of a back door, gutters and pipes, a chimney. The windows frames don't match the typical farm house, look at real examples and compare them to your model...I guess you are going for something like this lippitt_farmhouse.jpg

The textures need some attention the wall textures don't look that convincing to me I can't exactly say what but there is something I don't like about it and you can add a gradient to the roof texture.

step forward with the house, you need to de-saturate the red a bit and I personally liked the previous texture for the roof better, you just needed to add some gradient and maybe some dirt to it...

You need a roof that has a gradient, or something like that.

It also needs to have a bit of variation and to me it doesn't look like following a plan.

    Something like this:

    x21eab.jpg

And this(as a basis for a floor plan):

    mavsmall_1.jpg

The floor plan is quite easy, figure out what the outside and the dimensions are but keep the proportions.

EDIT: You could use anything for a floorplan, just google it.

For the oklahama tower, both are fine, its just a matter how you edit it.

Roof looks a little weird. I think it's supposed to be shingles but they all look like wooden slats pointing down to the left.

Where is the floorplan? Where is the 'new' roof with a gradient you said you were going to use?

You only popped in a more saturated roof, first of all you photoshop/GIMP it, give it a really subtle gradient then tune down the saturation. You would notice the difference. On gable roofs, you should seperate the sides to let the gradient show well.

    like this:

    zamericanpplaregay.jpg

    to get something like this:

    zzzzzz2.jpg

    And saturation really counts.

Which is better you choose, though the unsaturated ones are much better and more subtle looking.

    these:

    zzzzzz2.jpg

    zzzzzzz3.jpg

    zzzzzzz3.jpg

    or these ones:

    New001254857389.jpg?t=1295679258

    Subtlety is king.

DISCLAIMER: I am not a serious batter or an artist or anything...

To me, pretty much every roof texture being posted, even the ones that are supposed to be good, are either way too "noisy" when rendered, or scaled down so much they tile. Gradients and stuff are only half of it. Why not a smoother less detailed roof texture as a base, with some larger water streaks and and a few discolored shingles drawn over it?

Also sometimes roof textures are just inappropriate no matter how much they get touched up because they are a different sort of roof. Slate and cedar looks way different than composite shingles(rubbery material with gray sand on it).

Before doing Bojangles, make sure you practice some intermediate detailing and good lotting. Fast food restaurants are quite challenging to lot, though you could take a look at dk1's BATs, he mostly makes these sort of fast food restaurants and shops.

    nfppcg.jpg

Here's a Bojangles you could try. Very easy, mostly basic skills and the hardest thing is the canopy(quite easy if you try).

The address is 3301 S Wilmington Street, Raleigh, NC, 27603. I picked it because it's viewable from all 4 sides, so you get a clearer idea of how it should look.

I looked at google earth and its approximately 10x26m, which is quite easy.

Modeling does not look bad, but most of the time and the greatest attention must be paid to texturing. Here's the biggest catch. If you choose a good texture, the building has much to gain, but if they draw your wrong, not even a good model will not be noticed.

I for hours looking for something that might be useful for texture. And as noted predecessors. even use the GIMP to edit, lighten or vary the texture.

I would also enjoy a Bojangles' highway sign too (I know they don't exist, but i would love one). With a Bojangles and a Bojangles Highway sign, I could have a perfect city. I wish i was a got BATer because I am horrible at it :(. If I was a good BATer like you guys, I would make a Bojangles, Bojangles highway sign and tons of other restaurants and gas stations!

The steel roof texture needs alot of help and adding a gradient on it. Try using transparent windows, since they give life to a BAT. You need roof junk to put on your roof, and the pillars, ideally, have a pyramid shaped/hip roof. Note that hip roofs are extremely hard to texture.

    Quote from Todd(on my thread)

You really should fix the mapping error on your roof, it looks silly to be honest. How you fix it depends on how you made the roof object. Is it one piece (object) or is each side a different object?

I'm going to assume it is a single object. If your roof isn't already an editable mesh, add that modifier. Hit the "+" next to the modifier and select "polygon". Select one of the sides, scroll down until you see "detach" in the "Edit Geometry" section, then press detach. Repeat this for the other sides so that each side is independent. You may now apply a UVW map to each side; make sure they are all identical so that each will match up with the next.

And it should look like this:

    zamericanpplaregay.jpg

If you don't understand what Todd says, these are the steps:

    - Make a pyramid shape

    1. Make a triangular prism

    2. Make it an editable mesh

    3. Scale down the topmost edge, making a pyramid

    - Texturing

    1. Click on "Polygon"

    2. Click on one of a pyriamid's triangles, the press "Detach"

    3. Repeat step 2 for all the triangular faces of a pyramid

    4. Texture it! (you know how to texture)

When doing roofs, make sure you add gradient, so it looks realistic and subtle.

    Get it?

You should do BAT essentials again, since it looks you have trouble understanding, it has everything.
