I like your lots! They are really similar to things in and around where I live. You are really good at the BAT! I can't wait to see what your next project is!

A side view of GDV's first waterfront hotel... First real BAT building project. Learnt a lot about applying textures and night lighting in BAT/gmax... The LODs, however, was another story... 50.gif

The look and feel is based on luxury waterfront resort hotels in tropical/ sub-tropical zones, like Hawaii or Malaysia....

Funny....the growable version of GDV resort hotel pop up like mushrooms allover this small affluent residential town. Quiet easy to grow...this one... 16.gif Afterall it provides 108 C$$S jobs [if I recall correctly] and should easily meet demand.

Those who've problem growing this hotel have probably downloaded it on the first two days of publishing - I forgot to attach the desc file associated to this growable lot.50.gif26.gif If so, pls redownload the zip file, extract the desc file, and try growing it again. Let me know if you have success...

Speaking of latest creation... here's GDV Roscoe's yacht club. 10.gif Named after my fav man 50.gif.

This yacht club is the first sc4 dream object of mine [wasn't too pleased with the skinny Rush Hour marina heh heh]. I attempted it as my first BAT project. Oh did I ask for trouble - the learning curve difficulty level is simply insane. I can hear all the BAT vets laughing at my naiveness9.gif...

But stubborn me wants my yacht club, and so after much hair tearing etc, I got my yacht club...posted today to the ST Exchange...

Does this mean we have another female on the site? We don't have enough, it's rather one sided. Anyways, that looks fantastic Goldiva. I really need to download that, your hotel, and some other things.25.gif

I live in Thunder Bay, and we have a lot of international type buildings, made by architects from everywhere, so you might think it is only in a certain place, but we could have it here! In the early 1900's, we had a really big Chicaco influence, giving the city the nickname Chicago of the North and your buildings aren't exactly like ones here, just very similar in appearance. The yacht club looks like a smaller version of the city marina.

    Hey Smurfer2,

Of course I'm female! Why would you think otherwise???? I suppose there are many crossdressers around 4.gifHey, I'm pretty sure Brenda, the other female BATter, is a real one as well! Why should anyone think otherwise!!! I'm sure there are many closet 44.gif females around here though... Come out to play gals!!!24.gif24.gif24.gif

Anyway speaking of my passion for SC...it's hard to persuade my girlfriends to consider the fun of a city management game. Most females do get The Sims, which I do enjoy making custom objects for...

G'day Goldiva. I saw your Yacht Club on the STEX. Very nice.

I was wondering why I didn't see your pictures. It must be because they're offsite and I've got some proxy problem.7.gif

A note about GDV yacht club foundation. It's been optimized so that it's easier to plop than the cruise ship port or original marina. Depending on your terrain and slopes, or the looks you prefer, you may get the yacht club:
    • With No Foundation: by placing it very close to a flat shore line, very close to water level. See papa_san's post as example
    • With Foundation: by placing it closer in land, on a slight slope. See most of my pics for example

    /idealbb/files/GDVyachtclub003.jpg

Personally, I prefer something in between: a little foundation. Don't want the pier so high - may fall off heheh!47.gif5.gif47.gif

Oneil, compliment from a dedicated fellow BATter like yourself is very...nice! I played SC since sc2000 days and it's not hard to think up all sorts of stuff you want for your city, stuff Maxis forgot to include in their original version! 9.gif

When IK make Thunder Bay, I'll make a journal for it, but it will ba a while. I have to find a grayscale of the area. If you ever run out of ideas, I've got a few, they're building up! I hevent been into the game for a few days, but I have a really good Idea for a waterfroont!

Thx Vidioman, as much as I enjoy sharing my creations, I should probably stay off the waterfront buildings for a few reasons. It is time-consuming to create, and the fact that it's in a popular category could be behind the inconsistent feedback from STEX. Currently the problem-free, obviously well-received yacht club is getting far lesser votes than many lesser BAT works, including my own less sexy debut toll gate. In fact, it's my worst rated BAT so far. If you search STEX by highest rated BAT, this yacht club is buried quite deep below and under. I'm just dissappointed that this yacht club - personally IMO my best BAT/MOD work, will not become as accessible to future visitors as they have to comb through mountains of BATs to find it. Something is weird about the feedback inconsistency - either my yacht club BAT is really that low in quality, or..41.gif

That said, I shall post it to the official site now. 1.gif
