You seem to have the geometry down pretty well and I like your designs but you still need to work on the textures and maybe add a bit more detail like gutters. Here's a place to look for just the right textures: http://www.cgtextures.com/

Textures can be frustrating and very time consuming but if you want to make something that looks really nice, it's unavoidable.

It's not uncommon to have to start with a good texture and then customize it.

It would also help if you put some other residential buildings next to yours for the in-game pictures. It helps in evaluating scale and texture and brightness.

There are also some gmax models other BATters have put on the STEX. You can download them and open them in gmax to see how other BATters have accomplished things.

It looks like you have great promise. I hope you keep at it.

Believe in only what you can prove.

The geometry looks much better, looks more harmonious now. I have to ask, did you cheated to fix the roof in the section I marked in green by moving the fireplace there? 2.gif The entrance looks much better, I am not that sure about the new placement of the fireplace, and I would have changed the place where the two main sections of the roof meet (where you place one of the fireplaces) but these last two things are up to you.

Hello Stuka, thank you very much for such nice suburb houses. Original game had quite ugly houses, so there is free space for your nice creations. Because I don

I think the original game houses were much better than this, the only houses better than this are on the STEX. Worse still, the props that you mention are non standard, meaning it isn't worth downloading. Stick to the LEX as only apporoved buildings end up there.

uhm... you really gotta catch the texturing-train.

both in technique and quality.

your textures, unfortunately, screw up the nice geometry youve done.

As for the lots... yeah... no... idk... they look good but somehow not good in the same instance. hard to say. gotta look more into them to know whats wrong 4.gif

You said that there weren't any more comments on your BAT thread and that is why you released it on the STEX, well I can see there were a few comments. You didn't even answered to my last post, and I told you a couple of times before that the textures weren't good but that should focus in fixing the model AND then the textures...Even if there weren't many replies that doesn't mean people think is ok for release, remember no one is getting paid here to check the forum threads. Some times no one answer to the posts on my thread for weeks, and there had been some post that go by without answer, but that doesn't mean the problem is not longer there or un-important. I like your enthusiasm, but ask yourself this question: what is more important at the moment, learn to BAT properly or release your creations ASAP?

Forget about those thin lines, i don't know how they formed but I kept them in as a frame.

Here are the pics(rotated 90 degrees so it would fit the lot better)

Thanks a lot, Todd, since now I know the secrets and will do the same to the new building!

Thats how you texture a roof, you need to seperate each polygon so the texture fits in like a glove, also don't forget the roof gradient, you get it with photoshop by looking at SimHotToddy's tutorial.

They look really cool! I've always thought that there was a serious deficiency in suburban housing stock in simtropolis. My CJ looks like that first picture on the thread. Anyways, keep up the good work and I'll keep downloading. 4.gif

I don't think so, go to the LEX over at SC4D and search for Residentials-Small. All of them are 10x times better than Stuka's collection. Some can be found on the STEX while some are BSC Exclusive. Anything residential from these BATters are atleast 5x times better than Stuka.

-gascooker(on LEX also)

And who the heck are you to judge other people's work like this?

"all of them are 10x times better than Stuka's collection" > well it's not like you are a great star, you know.

You are an amateur, just like Stuka. He's learning; he may be a bit hard headed and not listen all advices coming from expert BATters, but he's trying. Plus, his suburban collection may one day become a invaluable asset like Vanderaap's Dutch houses or Porkissimo's Paris houses.

So, give the guy a break. And give yourself a break, too.
