Update! Orange Point! This all part of the Atlantic coast redevelopment program! The once industrial waste land is now a heaven for all Richmond's rich sims!

New tower that has been built in Orange Point!

Sunnyvale Island! This is a narrow island that runs out into the Atlantic! New houses have been built on it!

Great job, such a big city with so much to see. I need to work on my airport building skills, you seem to have figured out RMIP, etc. I love all the different subway lines, station names, freeway names, etc, and the big parks and golf courses. Nice touch with the signage, keep it up.

Definitely naming streets, stations, essentially everything really gives a city a more realistic feel.

RMIP is the runway marking pack thing you are using for your airport I assume, haha.

Check out my city journal, I even have a map with all the streets named, etc., originally for my own benefit.

I do like naming streets! Although sometimes it can be hard to think of names haha

Update: Montrose!

Much smaller than Richmond, Montrose really is a haven by the river. The compact downtown area is full of all the big city stuff! But after that its all suburbs and country clubs! Over the years the freeway network has built up to reduce congestion in the central area...(You can see the layout from the map above).

UPDATE: Oakleigh...

Oakleigh is part of the unknown 'Montrose' area that is now being looked at. The whole area is not as developed at the Richmond area. Oakleigh is a small farming community. Fields stretch across rolling hills with small family homes dotted around where the workers live. This area is much further inland, so its hotter drier and harder to grow things...thank God for irrigation!

To the north west of Richmond, next to the sea is Atlantic Point. A high class place for rich sims!

Update: Columbia!

A whole new city to the east of Richmond! Sunset County is growing fast, many sims wish to live there due to all the jobs and nice homes. Due to this many new towns are popping up, We looked at Montrose before which was quite small, but this time we are looking at Columbia. With a population about 330,000 its not longer a small town but a small city! Downtown has developed a lot with many very tall buildings. There is also a large subway network to try and combat the congestion on the roads above...

Here are some photos of Columbia's downtown area at night! With one at day time showing the surrounding area...

Columbia is part of the new city project!

With a growing city comes a growing subway network!

Here is a map I have done...

Its pretty geographically accurate, although a lot of the 'corners' have been curved to make it look more realistic and less griddy

City Plaze and Bank Street are the 2 busiest stations. Woodhaven Boulevard is the furthest from downtown. Snape Park is the least used station, although that area is up for re-development so that may change!

Your first subway map looks very nice. The second one might benefit from having the lines be a bit smoother. The first picture of Columbia at night is just amazing!

@Benedict Thanks for the feedback! I do prefure the first subway map, but I wanted to try a different style rather than just copying London Underground

Congestion on the main roads has always been a problem, even with the large subway network! The highway network had always been pretty one sided mainly directing cars from the downtown area to the industrial south...

But with the development in the east and west it was decided that a new ring road needs to be built...This map shows where it shall be placed...

Update: Newington Parkway...is no more!

The residents of Columbia don't want to see their city getting over run by big expressways. Newington Parkway was once used by a lot of people, but ever since the ring road was completed it was made useless and the number of people using it dropped. The parkway has been demolished and in its place a small 2 lane road with new shops and office building. It also helps make the area for pedestrian friendly and stops places getting so cut off...Here is the development...
