Trading with Omnicorp

Well maybe I just don't get it, but trading with Omnicorp was somehow strange. Actually, I wanted to buy electricity and had about 7.000 bugs income per month (?). Then I bought 2 tokens electricity and when accepting the order and closing the trading window, I suddenly had 28.000 bugs income per month. Well then I needed some fuel, opened the trading window and ordered - or tried to order 3 units. I received the message that I didn't have enough tokens, thus, my trade with electricity was reduced by 2 tokens. So, I reverted the purchase of fuel to 0 and my purchase of electricity back to 2.
After closing the trading window I suddenly had only 15.000 income per month, although the purchase units were the same before trying to buy fuel.
Sounds like a bug or that trading with Omnicorp doesn't follow logic ways. Or the prices of Omnicorp spike within a few seconds. Could be and it would be acceptable. But with my first purchase of electricity I had 4 times more income, then suddenly after trying to buy fuel and reverting it to how it was before, I lost 13.000 of my monthly income.

Can anyone explain what the logic behind this trading system really is? Or is it bugggggy?

I really hope you get an answer to this, I have the same question.

I noticed my income last night had dropped to about 40k a turn from around 100k and spotted in the resources tab that I could sell a couple more fuel points. When I did so, I also added a couple of tourism points and my income dropped to *minus* 50k :/ Fair enough I thought, reset the whole trade screen to nothing, sold everything I didn't need and picked up just some bare essentials from Omni, but basically it was the same as when I started. When I came out, I was now getting +750k. I haven't touched the trade screen since 3.gif

Clearly I have no idea how it works and like you I suspect it may be broken.

I wouldn't touch the trading screen neither if I would get 750k :-)

I've had no problem with trading so far.....

You open the screen, choose the two cities you wanna trade between (including Omnicorp), and move the relevant token slider towards the relevant city..... I don't know how hard it could be.

If you don't have enough token production you won't be able to move the slider at all. Unless you're trading with Omnicorp and trying to buy something, of course. But in this case you need cash tokens.

Anyway, what you two are describing sounds like a bug to me.

Do cash tokens use up freight?

According to manual - no. The same is with electricity. These are dematerialized wares, so you need not any freight capacity.

apparently trading water, food, fuel or waste with Omnicorp does not bring you any cash. Only trading workers seems to bring in money from Omnicorp.

Otherwise, just create cities with specializations to trade with your other cities. If one city has a lot of Water, you can freely trade with a city that doesnt as long as both are making money, and it doesn't appear to cost the city anything as long as you have freight.

freight is merely how many transportation connections you have to the outside world. If you want to trade 10 tokens, you need a road that can handle that amount of freight. the minute you get Expressways, make all your connections expressways and then change into your normal road after a "few hundred feet."

I'm pretty positive that the trading system is bugged pretty badly right now. For most trades I will get aproximately 3500 cash income for selling to Omnicorp. However there have been many times that I've sold maybe 5 or 10 units of whatever to Omni, and when I started the trade my cash income for my city was -7,000 and so after trading those 5 to 10 units of resources to Omni, I go back to the city and see that my cash income is still -7,000

It is in my opinion bugged and should be placed on the priority list of things to fix right after any game crashes, for without proper trading, it devolves down into needing to cheat to bring in the income that Omnicorp is not paying the city for their resources. I have reported this as a bug on the official forums a time or two, so let's see if they do anything about it.

Yes, there are some glitcehs in the trading system, although I've suffered from only 1 or 2 so far, and none of them really serious.

Xopherf, trading fuel with Omnicorp nets me a nice income! I'm currently selling them more than 10 tokens, and most of the positive cashflow comes from this trade. Maybe it's a bug you're experiencing....

My trading screen is difficult to tell how much money I earn. I have to check my budget every time I make big trading deals. It is also annoying that espressway city links have only 20 freight (I cannot use seaports/harbors on landlocked cities).

I ended up building freeways/highways/fast lanes. I also managed to bankrupt OmniCorp. That never happened in the original game. I will download the Omcorp Cash Token Mod (or whatever it is called).

After trying trade between my own cities, and give up because of the pesty message from omnicorp, I now have healthier cities trading only to and from omnicorp. The thing is, avaible fret for omnicorp is reaching 880/999.... (I've build dozen of cities with a fret close to 100 for each). Is 999 a fret limit for omnocorp or does it mean infinity?

999 is the freight limit but Ilikeseattle said there was a mod that changed it to 9999 4.gif

It also changed Omnicorp's Cash token amount to 9999.
