I either don't think the problem is due to the opcatiy maps. I have the same problem with my BATs (take a look here) and I didn't use opacity maps (at least at that place of the BAT). It occurs when luminosity is around a certain level (low to menium-low). It suddenly appeared some time ago, and I can remember some BATters complaining. I haven't concluded what it causes this, but I suspect a combination of display driver (nVidia?) with the FSH library (not sure if it was the library uploaded by null45 or some "external" library installed as an "update" by another vendor (Microsoft)?

It would be interesting to check if this is caused by (and therefore affect only) the computer it is displayed on, or instead recorded this way in the .SC4Model file. As you can see the problem within iLive as well, all you need to do is install only the reader (and not the whole Simcity stuff) on another computer, preferably with different display adapter type and with the most recent updates not installed (an old laptop would be fine).

It seems to be caused by the computer they are on. I have a computer with an Nvidea GTS 250 graphics card that displays this problem.

My old laptop with a Readeon IGP 345M graphic card shows exactly ths same models without any problems.

strange, I never had that issue on the Reader, even in the effected models.

anyway, it is very strange all of this. as I said before, I am not a informatics person, so I don't know how the heck the image ends up on the render window or in the game. I only now it is a holy big bunch on 00 and 01's lol

But I tried to figure out a way to find out the issue, which is what I presented before. In that particular case, opacity maps were enough to solve it, but, as I was aware, they are not the sole cause of it, because I've being using opacity maps for a long time and never had these issues before.

Strange indeed. Please don't get opinion that I'm looking to you for a solution to this. I agree I think there is more than one cause of this.

not at all. I was just pointing out that despite wanting to help out, my skills to help are limited ;)

meanwhile I got the bravery to address the nightlights on my latest model,

    stpreview2.jpg

some final tweaks have to be done, but the overall look may be something like that.

I dig it I dig it! Nice to see an in-game shot too. :)

Did you want the color scheme to match the Maxis Counterpart? Not saying it has to, since it's great as is. I like those night lights as well. :golly:

Out of curiosity, I'm not sure if you mentioned this earlier, but is this one going to be R$$ or R$?

EDIT: Hmm I feel like your model needs to be scaled up a slight bit compared to the blocky Euro Maxis building. I know SC4 has no definite sense of scale, and it probably wouldn't matter, but I wonder if you'll see it as I do. I guess it's just being next to that one. Chances are, the Maxis building could be over-scaled a tad. :ooh:

Sgt Pepper: I know it does not match the counterpart, it's more blueish than mine, but I don't want too in some way. I may end up making a new color variation too, so I end up having more colour in R$ blocks :P (two kills in one round :P )

about the scale, if I am not mistaken, it matches the one next to it (which is one of maxis under-scaled btw). but as you fell it may be smaller than it should be, I can easy scale it up a bit :)

    Aaron Graham: Thank you :D

    art128: Thank you, :}

    libellibicus: thank you :golly:

oh, btw, I may end up packing all my stuff for a X-mas release :P

Just d/l'ed the new buildings. As per usual, they are of a very high standard. Many thanks for these great additions to the game.

your are welcome and ty for your kind words :)

Meanwhile I get into gmax today and start sketching a new one, a R$40x44 high rise

    preview1_zpse1261e28.jpg

note: no ground floor or roof and the colours are just code for texture groups latter =)

    thank you both =)

I will just address some details first and then "hit the lights" * :P

*oh my, I was shocked when I searched "hit the lights" and Selena Gomez appears in all entries of the search page... I can't believe I had to add Metallica to the search QQ...

Phew, that building looks depressing! Looking at the picture of it really sucks the will to live out of my bones. :| I'd say you hit the style and appearance spot on.

I dunno, maybe a cell phone mast on the roof would be a realistic touch and add at least one detail to detract from the depressing monotony. Then again, the BAT undoubtedly has a great effect the way it is right now.

@ Metallica vs. Selena Gomez:

that ain't good ein? :uhm: it was meant to be a R$ tenement building, so, poor and unattractive seem to be a good choice :uhm:

that idea of the antenna is good. I was planning to make more colour variations, so one or two may get it ;)

No, don't worry. You've done a superb job once more! It's not your fault that this kind of building doesn't look very uplifting. If anything, you managed to capture the spirit so powerfully that looking at the BAT evokes the same feelings in me as looking at a real-world social housing complex in similar style.

I have done some more work on it. after some hours (where 75% of the time was spent in low quality draft render previews for tweaking) I added the nightlights :P

    preview5-1_zps1503268d.jpg

There are a few missing, namely first floor and roof, but it is 90% done and the looks won't change a lot from now on :P
