The tree lined roads, and woodlots within the farm land are well placed. Are those farms standard sized, or did you use a mod to mkae them bigger?

Very impressive, very realistic --- it's like looking at Google Earth ---- hopefully some of these small towns will retain their small-town feel in the future....

Thanks for the kind comments, everyone! Don't worry, these towns will not expand fast! About the map.. it's in the Valley section. I believe it's the mountain river 2.gif

Welcome to update 2 of Gregory Valley.
In this update we will mainly focus on some future developement of the towns!

Welcome to Dontingem! This thriving large town has all the services it needs, and is expanding fast
because it acts as a major port in the region.
    gamescreen01952.jpg

Dontingem is the only town in the region with a skyline. The highest tower is about 75 metres high.
    gamescreen0196.jpg

Here recently developement has taken place. The appartements were finished in february.
    gamescreen0197.jpg

Farmland is expanding, aswell as the harbor is. Therefore the pressure on expanding the suburbs
has been rising very much the last years. Not long ago the city has revealed the plans of a future neighbourhood.
    They started building last week.
    gamescreen0191.jpg

An artist impression of the neighbourhood.
    gamescreen0193.jpg

     gamescreen0195.jpg

Also, in Henden Main Street the plans for future redevelopement have been revealed. These are two appartements,
to face the demand for skilled workers.
The street as it is now..

    gamescreen01912.jpg

And when the appartements are finished. Looks much better.
    gamescreen01922.jpg
    gamescreen01932.jpg

The harbor will in the far future also be expanded to export more goods.
    A plan:
    gamescreen0194.jpg

This was the news out of Gregory Valley. See you next time!

Nice update --- one observation though: the river by the Dontingem harbor -- is it wide enough to support those large ships and vessels?

Thanks - until now it is. But it should not get too busy. Therefore the harbors can't get really big, so in the future it will be handier to just invest in industry to export it via train and trucks, and less via the river.

Well, if you take a look at the last picture in your first update, you'll see that a better location for the harbor would be upstream from the current location --- on the other side of that island... At least that's how it seems to me 1.gif

Ah yes I see. Do you mean the island or the lake?

EDIT: oops I should have read it better. Sorry Jazye 2.gif I will take it into consideration!

That, my friend, sure looks good! Will be looking forward for more. And, by the way, do you have a flag for Dinsey?

Anyway, you KNOW you can als use the terraforming buttons to enlarge the waterfront area around your exisitng harbor location, right? 1.gif

    1. Expand harbor on the other side of the river

    2. Expand harbor sidewards

    3. Build a new harbor on the island.

I think 2 at the moment is the cheapest choice for the city which is very important, but on the other side of the river it can be connected with the rail system - A station could be build.

3 seems the furthest away for now. But it can be taken into consideration when the harbor gets really big.

I think I will first expand it bit by bit sidewards, and then hop to the other side of the river. What do you think?

Well, as long as you don't mind 'wasting'/dedicating your island to the harbor  --- maybe the island coudl be suited for recreation uses instead?

@ Jazye - We'll see. I'm not going to use it in the near future 2.gif

Welcome to update 3! Dontingem has revealed the newest plans of Dontingem Harbor, and it's going to improve the infrastructure. Also, we will take a look at the redevelopement of an old waste treatment area in the middle of the suburbs, aswell at some random - typical - Gregory Valley scenes 4.gif

Now the plans for the harbor. Everything is explained in the picture. This is the cheapest way for now, in the future

there might be a rail station on the other side of the river, to connect the harbor to the rail network. The yellow lines show where the roads are widened.

    gamescreen01992.jpg

    gamescreen01993.jpg

Roads are slowly congesting. Not such a surprise, as the city now has 55.000+ inhabitants and the roads were there from the beginning. That's why Dontingem's going to invest in the infrastructure. A plan will follow soon.

A photo of the main road - connecting Dontingem to Henden, made in 1950.

    gamescreen0203.jpg

The old waste treatment area is being moved to the harbor. It has been replaced by offices.

    Before:

    gamescreen0199.jpg

    After:

    gamescreen0201.jpg

Dontingem is expanding it's suburbs to fit the demand for workers on the farms, the harbor and the offices.

To end this, some random pictures:

I hope you enjoyed this update. Next update I'll show you the expanded habor and the other villages!

Beautiful!  I often feel that custom content is misused/overused, but that

s clearly not the case here.

Great pics, Damastius! I totally love the view, very idyllic. I guess you use cheats to keep the game running, moneywise, what with that lot of landmark buildings you seem to have in Dontingem?

Remember: picture size is 800x600 maximum.

You can type 800 in the first size slot to resize the picture keeping proportions (second one will be 450)

I really like this CJ, I must admit I've been a bit chicken (pun honestly not intended) to try and do farming villages and smaller towns. A real inspiration!

Hello, as the harbor is slowly expanding, we'll follow Ted, living in Henden, who is going to watch a football game in Dontingem North. He is taking a special route for us, so we can enjoy the Gregorian landscape!

It's 9 AM in the morning. As the sun's rapidly rising above the farmland, we have been invited to visit Ted, and we will ride with him to Dontingem.

    This is his house:

    gamescreen0215.jpg

And off we go, taking a righty at the end of the street, driving behind the shops of Main Road.

    gamescreen0216.jpg

We need to take Main Road for a little while. The original road was laid in 1800, and in 1930 it was designed for cars.

Then, in 1945, a wider road was laid down next to the original Main Road, which is still serving many cars today.

    gamescreen0217.jpg

A beautiful scene to the right.

    gamescreen0218.jpg

We go right here, so we can drive through the 'real' farmland. The sun is already really high!

    gamescreen0219.jpg

    gamescreen0220.jpg

Here is one of the typical Gregorian scenes.

    gamescreen0221.jpg

    gamescreen0222.jpg

We finally arrive at the new, widened road leading to Gary Dike. It just has been finished!

    gamescreen0223.jpg

Driving on Gary Dike.. Can you spot Dontingem?

    gamescreen0224.jpg

Gary Dike is the only dike in the region. It's 80 years old already, no one knows why it has been built, because the water here never rises!

    gamescreen0225.jpg

There it is, Dontingem Harbor. We'll go left here, to the north.

    gamescreen0226.jpg

Here the 2x2 lane avenue changes to a 1x1 lane street for a short moment, causing many traffic jams.

    gamescreen0227.jpg

To the right of us we find Donta Triangle, one of the mayor tourists spots around.

    gamescreen0228.jpg

    gamescreen0229.jpg

Leaving the centre, going towards the suburbs; The football pitch isn't far away.

    gamescreen0230.jpg

Ah, there it is. Let's park the car on the parking spot!

    gamescreen0231.jpg

That was the tour, I hope you enjoyed it. Here's a map of the route we took, to get you orientated!

    gamescreen0233.jpg

Next update will be about the finished Dontingem Harbor 9.gif
