R.I.P Old Worthington Apartments Models

The Worthington Apartments is a 15 story Upper West Side style building, it as not real architecture style and the building is not a real life recreation, the building was Created by a famous NYBT batter called Aaron Graham.

History

The Worthington Apartments have been giving the name from something in the video game call Sims 2. The Worthington Apartments was started as a building with no courtyard, huge chimney, thick windows sills and the cornice to was to large, another thing that made the building look odd was the scale of the building, it was to large to look realistic in the game, the floor height was always a problem for Aaron Graham at that time sense he was still new a batter.

First model

Days later Aaron Graham decide that it would be best to make a new model of the Worthington Apartments. The new model of the Worthington was a little better but the cornice still did not look to real, but at that time Aaron was still trying to get the feel of Gmax. The model still had a chimney and something new that was new to Aaron and the building was courtyard with dumpster, this to him was the better choice for them than the last one. Aaron went with new model he has made, but there was some things that need to be better and the textures was one of them. Aaron at the time was using MS Paints so he was very limited at the time of making textures because he never heard of GIMP, so tiling was easy to seen on the brick walls of the building. When Worthington Apartments was complete it was uploaded April 2, 2010. The Worthington Apartments has 5180 downloads sense it's release.

Second model

New 3ds Max Model

The new Worthington Apartments did not come quick, it took a year for Aaron Graham to start modeling the building, and also for Aaron to learn 3ds Max on the small tentament buildings from Bronx for the NYBT. The plan before was to use the old Gmax model and merge it in to 3ds max and re-texture it. A famous BSP batter called Jasoncw said that the cornice need to be re-done, so Aaron decided to put the building on hold for and idea to come that never did came.

The rescue from a famous batter call Franis90b that is known to not complete buildings, and has some famous Bronx buildings that have not been release do to a technical problem Franis90b had. Aaron been wanting to make a new Worthington Apartments and fast, so Franis90b told Aaron to use a real life building in New York City instead of making a new floor plan. Franis90b said to use a real building without changing the window gaps, he said I can change everything else not including the wall sense that goes with the windows. Aaron said that was one the smartest ideas. Franis90b give Aaron Graham some google map links to different buildings and it came down to 888 Park Avenue. The new Worthington apartments is 15 stories including the penthouse. The building also is part of Aaron Graham's VBP (Variation Bat Plan). The new Worthington Apartments building has 4 models and the bricks have been tweeked by Franis90b to help on not having the textures look the same from a pervious creation done by Aaron. The New Worthington is using the randomize Prop/Building family moddings done by T wrecks and have been tested by Sgt Pepper. Aaron Graham said the new Worthington Apartments is 100% better, even Jasoncw agrees.

The new Worthington Apartments is said to be released on October 19, 2012. the old version of the Worthington Apartments is said to be deleted from STEX on the same day as the new version is released.

Nice story, Aaron! I still have the old Worthington Apts upload on my HD, by the way.

And technically, you're posting off-topic, because this thread is about stuff that never made it to the STEX, not stuff that was pulled from it by BATters whose cool, cruel sense of perfection prevails over sentimental nostalgia.

Because the people making them either went inactive, lost motivation, or got some sort of challenge (like a corrupted file) and the building was never finished or released.

Those 3 Simfox Towers from Tokoyo (there was another that was almost done) were amazing. Everyone gushed about the Federation Tower etc, but it's these 'fillers' that he was pretty awesome at..

1) The top one won't probably be released for awhile... But I've messaged another member who MIGHT be willing to take the torch on that one!

2) This was pretty much designed as an experiment... but since it's a residential I don't expect this to be much of a headache to complete!

3) I have this updated and completed... just unrendered! I fell out of love with Hong Kong architecture, and I thought no one liked it. But who knows! Maybe when more projects are completed this could soon be on the conveyer belt out! (:

About 2 year ago, I was working on a BAT that never made it.

This is the Shangri-La Hotel in Vancouver. I had the modelling down though the texturing and night lighting was giving me a headache. Also, my computer wasn't terribly strong back then so I could never fully render it. On top of that, I'm a perfectionist to the core and there were a few points that kept bugging me like crazy. I eventually lost interest and lost the file forever when my hard drive crashed.

If I go back into BATing (there's slowly growing urge to), I'll start off with smaller buildings and work my way up so I don't get as frustrated.
