Gran Via - Valiosa

Hello everyone.

Welcome to my first (and most likely only one) try to make a CJ.

Since I’m a member of simtropolis (btw most fantastic webpage in the internet) I wanted to make a cj, but I didn’t consider my abilities quite attracting enough to get at least some lurkers. Nothing changed on that and there is another fact that me held off starting a CJ – the time. Nothing changed neither.

but now it’s time.

so, I guess that it will take some time to get updates but I’ll try. There are some more facts that you should know. The city I want to show you is already developed and despite that I’ve some pics from the beginning I doubt that it’ll be possible to understand the development.

There is enough space to built more, but I don’t know if I could manage this without prolonging this CJ unnecessarily.

All right, for those who are still here I’ll will start now:

The region is called “Gran Via”. The only city in it is called VALIOSA. The city sits on a big tile and until now 372000 people live there. The name of the region means “big road” and it explains well, how I started with this project.

I drew a rough road layout on a sheet of paper and decided to built a city.

that was the first idea:

ok, this was hand made, but to give you a better understanding have a at that. After having done the first layout and having built some stuff, that came out :

as you can see there is just plain land....

Looks like you have city planning covered. Lay out the roadwork and mass transit first, then plop, zone and develop.

Drag, zone and let er' rip! I'm curious as to what this city will look like.

Aaron Graham: thanks - to make that map happend quite accidentely. i was sitting in a train and i got a sheet of paper and a pencil

In the first update I'll show you some further development.

I zoned the first residential areas near to the station. The business spotted its place in the south of the station - the population at that moment might be around 500-1000.

Because the commercial workplaces weren't enough, people started to work in the first industries in the north. (they are dirty but necessarily for development).

In the upper left corner is the media tower of Valiosa News. first highrise to ensure that the signal reaches for long distances

OK, at that moment Valiosa doesn't proof its name, because it means something like precious or valuably. but it'll change.

You should probably provide the areas without electricity. But otherwise it looks like a nice start. What STEX's do you have so far?

I don't think he/she really has any SimTropolis EXchanges, but it appears that there is a lot of custom content. Good use of the NAM as well. Nice start.

Short replies

Sirron Kcuhc - the areas without electricity (only a few stations) were just temporarily. they vanish with zoning the area. as for the STEX...yes a have a lot of the great stuff from the community. a lot of highrises (C and R) and low rises, parklot and so on. my plugin folder is about 2GB. you will see some more of it in further updates. thanks for posting

joshriddle - thanks for your trust in my lotting abilities but most of the buildings are really from the STEX. I just have 3 or 4 selfmade lots.

kakado_to_save: thanks but yes, I'm quite sure the main problem is the time I guess. I play the game almost 5 years now but there are definetly some other cracks out there

ImVhOzzi: yes, but just occasionaly. actually just right in front of station entrance

today I'll show you some more pics of the first development next to the station. the number of jobs is rising so the high of some buildings is rising.

Now the sims start to build houses right on the other side - but due to the fact that most of the industry job are less payed there are signs that the district naer to stations becomes a little poor.

the more people the more activities came up and a little short time after the first development the workers founded a futball club: el Club de Futbol trabajadores Unidos (CFTU)

if it wouldn't rain you could see the hell of show

to have sports man up to date the media tower of Valiosa transmits every game (the media tower is actually the Torre Angela situated in Cordoba, RA)

thats how it looks like from the distance - but wait, they built park to relax

this is the east corner of the park

and the western part - with a little contribution to Valiosa

here you can see what i came up with after a few years of construction. new road layout in the west and some other industries behind the new park.

kakado_to_save: i consider tunnels and bridges neccesary to not disturb the traffic to much. but sometimes it doesn't look so good.

Today i can just give you a small teaser of whats up to come in the next update. Though nothing special today. Well, maybe this.

from now on I'll to try present my updates in English and Spanish, too. This is just for me (and maybe for some hispanohablantes in the community ) I'll see how this will work out.

I like its planned out-ness and its strong lines and its strategic roads that aren't griddy. The park rocks!! Great combination of peg and bsc stuff, with a little tribute to the flag.

wwetom1: thank you wwetom1. the creativity was caused by the problem of making a tunnel curve.

After the first poor quarter was built up, the richer people began to move in the future outskirts of the town and so the first suburbs pop up.

The big mall, not just for the rich people who live next to it - el centro commercial, no solo para la gente rica.
