Is there another link off simtropolis to download the Cities XL unlocker as i've tried here several times and it just stops at around 7% and crawls close to 0.01k

EDIT: Hi again, scrap that I eventually make it work. I've downloaded the unlocker and the addon and the sandbox mode but when I load the game I get the avatar screen, click put in game and it just saves the avatar. I can't get past the avatar screen. Am I doing something wrong?

    Unlocker Mod version 3 still in test phase. I'm working with some people at Generation City to provide them a special edition compatible with PakUnpak mods.

    Jesse Swiss, can you post here your mod request (with some more details... for example in which menu you want buildings, their cost, jobs...)? Got some free time now, I can do that mod for you (since it's very simple).

    Have you seen that cool blue menu I made with Photoshop? Well, if forum code allows me such a thing, I want to make it animated (horizontal scroll with mouse).

    The avatar screen trap is a common bug, solved in coming version 3...

    EDIT: Okay the buildings im wanting are 30 St. Mary Axe, and The Transamerica Pyramid, what i want is both of those buildings as a T3 office building, the cost would be around 800-1200 either or don't matter, both buildings i would like very high for all workers ( un-skilled, skilled, execs, and elites) if also you could make eiffel tower, tokyo tower as an office with the same modifications that would be greatly appreciated, Thanks Globexco!

    Also, I sometimes find people walking on my lovely railtracks! LOL it doesn't look very realistic IN MY OPINION 3.gif

    @Jesse, and in what menu you want them? overwriting your existing blueprints with them is ok?

    Ok, my tests with ploppable trains failed.

    The main problem is that collision boxes can't be removed from railroads. The second problem is that models aren't modular, you can't create a train since the space between wagons is different for each model.

    Probably modding sim info for rail in 2011 version putting trains shouldn't be too difficult... but at the moment nothing can be done. 8.gif

    About airports, a pack can be made... with ploppable airplanes, vehicles and things like this.

    Tarmac and intersection are unrealistic at the moment... If I find a way to fix them, then I might start something about that.

    Before anyone asks...No this isn't Cities XL 2011 and No they aren't movable trains.

    Thanks to Damastius for the suggestion -- geeze, where would we be without great ideas and requests! - I made up a set of 19 individual train cars that are already in the game (and you'll probably see in CXL'11).

    How it works:

    I made a blank lot with a small pole (so you know where to click for info/delete). The trains aren't buildings but rather "furniture". This is unfortunate because buildings load much nicer and are visible at any distance (without mods). However, furniture (or non-buildings) can be manipulated in position and size.

    As Globexco mentioned, each train car is a different size than the others. With the blank building method, we can easily make a plot of land the exact width of the train. For example, the train engine is 15 meters long, so I just made a blank lot 15 meters wide, rotated the engine, positioned it, and scaled it to the tracks.  Some of the passenger cars are more than 25 meters long.

    What you can do:

    You can plop the lots adjacent to the railroad tracks (even at a slight curve

    What you can't do:

    Drive them or click on them. If you want their pop-up info, you'll need to click on the little flag pole adjacent to the train car.

    When and where can you download:

    I'm tired, so not now; sorry. Everything is done I just need to make DDS thumbs and write the info stuff (buildingnames). If anyone out there is a train enthusiast, then please give me some ideas on what to write; or better, tomorrow I'll release a beta so everyone can contribute.

    What am I talking about, why don't I just do it now and make everyone happy? I haven't tested this with or without certain mods - but I'm certain there'll be no problem.

    Remember! This is just a beta - there'll be updates when I make the thumbnail images and the buildingname info (which I'm hoping some of you could help with).

    What is included, in detail:

    • Train Engine, 15 meters (I also made a Left-hand version to drive on the other side, or to drive backwards - or whatever trains do when you see multiple train engines together)
    • Electric Engine, 19 meters (no Left hand version because it's already pretty symmetrical)
    • Subway-like, Double-decker engine, 12.5 meters (Left hand version included)
    • Bullet train Engine, 18.8 meters (Left hand version included)
    • Passenger Car, Double-decker, older, 26 meters
    • Passenger Car, Double-decker, shorter, 16.25 meters
    • Passenger Car, 20.75 meters
    • Bullet train Passenger Car, 17.5 meters (Left hand version included)
    • Boxcar - long, red, 22 meters
    • Boxcar - short, red, 12 meters
    • Boxcar - short, yellow, 10.2 meters
    • Tank car - white, 13.5 meters
    • Hopper car, 15 meters
    • Caboose - red, 14.75 meters
    • Subway car, 14.25 meters
    • Trolley car, 8.25 meters

    I started tests with vehicles as buildings, since I prefer them (it worked very well with boats) and stopped working because of position problems (not get used to layout files).

    Anyway, using this mod without icons and descriptions is an hard work!

    Will we see a final version uploaded on the stex?

    Also, Globexco, when can we expect mod v 3.0 to come out? I'm still using v 1.1 and am thinking of skipping v 2.1 and go straight to v 3.0.....

    That is amazing! Maybe Focus meant that there were 3 types of trains (heavy rail, light/elevated rail, and bullet train) that could all run underground as subway when they said:

    When 2011 is released I'll ask Focus if I can use railroad layout and import it in 2009 version so you can create better railroads.

    And about people and cars on railroad, I removed transport capacity from tracks so no one will use it!

    All the features for v3 are ready... I'm trying to fix some bug of gem mode (ctd, ctd and ctd... and again ctd).

    Version 3 will be released in two edition, a normal one and a Pakunpak-compatible one; both will work only on CXL2009. Content to unlock is quite finished...

    In October, after 2011 release, a new version (4) will be released.

    V42011 will unlock content only for 2011 version (because many things are still locked in that version).

    V42001 will fix missing components by adding code (code, not content!) from 2011 version.

    Version 4 should be the final release of the Unlocker Mod (unless Focus decides to continue developing CXL).

    About V3 releasing date, there's nothing sure. This week I fixed all the common bugs of v2 (example: crash with blueprints, shipyard now can be placed in the right position... and removed few content with too many missing things.

    Release date should be between the end of August and September.

    Hey GlobexCo, love what your doing, great work!

    I have a request that doesnt really have to do with the game, but with installing your unlocker mod. What if you were to create an installer for your mod where you can decide which unlockables you want to add to the game. For example, what if i want to add the medieval pack, but not the trains. A great example of this is the NAM installer for SC4 where you can decide what exactly you want and dont want to install. I think this would be very helpful, especially since there are so many things to unlock and some peopel may not want to clutter their menus with absolutely everything thats possible to unlock. Just a suggestion

    The plobbable trains made by kiwispanker, are not working for me. I can see all the empty thumbnails in the busmenu.

    I've placed a railway, a was able to place a train but the texture did not load. There is nothing appearing. Any thoughts?

    That means splitting the big patch in many little mods...

    But it can be done.

    Very true. The trains can't be viewed from a distance. There may be a way around this by tampering with camera.cfg; haven't tried it yet but I'm sure it'll allow you to extend the rendering of smaller models (but you'll need some PC performance for that).

    I did fix the thumbnails and the buildingnames.

    If everyone is satisfied then I'll leave this mod alone and go back to what I was doing before. However, if you have any further requests and would like to see this mod developed a bit more - throw out some ideas.

    Also, the train car descriptions are missing; well I just put the train car's length in the game. But if you want to see a description of what a Hopper Car is, for example, then please feel free to expand on each model's description.

    Or, if you prefer the trains to be located in another submenu...it can be changed.

    Or, if you want each train car's attributes to be changed...please let me know what's good...cuz I don't.

    So far this is what I put for each:

    • Jobs
      • Poor: 1 @ 80%
      • Middle: 1 @80%
    • Production
      • Freight: 100 (which is small)
      • Passenger: 100 (also small)
    • Requirements
      • Fuel: 10 (tiny amount...for each train car)
    • Pollution
      • Noise: 100 meters locally
      • Air: 100 meters locally
    • Cost
      • Building cost: 600 or 0; I thought I put 600 but 0 may register
      • Destruction: probably same as above
      • Monthly cost: 100c (public building under Public Transportation budget)
    Remember, the above costs and benefits are for each train car. They don't require road access to work...nor must you place adjacent to tracks. Have fun.

    I also can't see them, from whatever distance. I only see the poles.

    Kiwispanker could you please tell me how to make those "interchanges"? I can't find a tutorial or so, thanks

    Mine is still not working, any thoughts kiwispanker? I've tried every camery positon, close, postcard etc.

    The only thing I see is a small pole, but no train on the track...

    I'm using Limited Edition through Steam.
