    Just some news from Generation City.

    Test of Pakunpak edition is going well... no crashes with their mods.

    Sorry, but I really don't know what to think... are you playing cxl with the highest graphic settings?

    No, it can't be a compatibility problem...

    Have you tried building a whole new city only for trying the mod?

    Hmm - I could try that. The trains require workers, but they don't need a road leading to them right?

    Edit: Nope it doesnt work. I see that people are going to work there, but i still can only see the damn poles, nothing else 15.gif even if the rail IS connected to a road.

    Is it working for other people???

    I just tested it without any mods, with only unlocker and sandbox, and with all mods. It works for me on all video settings...except the Lowest setting.

    It may take your computer a few seconds - or longer I guess - to render the actor models. On my computer, it takes about five to ten seconds for each train car to show up.

    As for now there's no way to fix it. We can make the trains into buildings so they'll show up quicker and be seen farther away, but then they couldn't be seated nicely on the tracks and match up squarely behind one another. Sorry, this was the only fix I could think of. All I can say is it's working for me on all settings with all mods. Try downloading the Advanced Options Mod (I think it's from the French GC) here: CXLmod51Options-Avancees-personnalisees.patch and click Telecharger to download. You can up the settings for furniture and cars, and other things. These settings were something that MC originally put in...but like everything, they left it out.

    Concerning making merging tracks: you got me. It's hard. I've gotten lucky a few times early on. Now whenever I try to duplicate them while making a tutorial...it never works!!
    The only advice would be to make one long straight track, then try to add a second track into on a curve and pray for green.

    I'm kinda desperate 15.gif I'll try it once more and see if they show up.

    I changed nothing and they just showed up, however, when I restarted the game again they were gone again 15.gif They are living their own lives I think..

    I tried plopping trains in a big city... It seems CXL has got something inside that controls the number of actor in a given scene (camera range).

    Anyway, just want to inform you that STEX has got some big issues... Downloads are slow and sometimes corrupted.

    If you're experiencing strange errors (unknown crashes or missing things), then try to download again the mod before asking support!

    I've downloaded the plobbable trains during some stex-problems. I had to restart (from where it left off) about 4 times. Does it might be the issue?

    Corrupted files which cause no trains to be visible...?

    I do not know if this will work.

    Try this:

    -1. You place the camera above the train you do not see.

    -2. Save and exit the game.

    -3. Re-enter and wait a little while, without moving the camera to see if the game ends up loading the train

    wait. i have no idea why a slow STEX and non-visable ploppable trains are related? i think the visability has something to do with each person's PC performance.

    globexco may be right about the amount of actor files in a given scene. i can change the camera configuration files for the game to "try" to render the trains when they are further away from the camera, or hopefully allow more to be visable.

    also, steff42: that was a great tutorial video. i honestly never thought about doing it that way. I always tried to connect the second track with the first one. there's a glitch in the game where they'll connect (or perhaps that's what is really suppose to happen). thanks again!!

    My laptop was released as a new gaming laptop last november. The windows experience index shows a 5.6 which is not bad.. the visual performance for 3d games is above 6.. woud be very weird that it was about the pc's performance it is a great laptop!

    I have 5.6 also average with two graphic cards running in SLI, 9600GT. It's not the performance of the pc.

    I might reinstall the game with only the unlocker + fix + sandbox and plobbable trains... See if it will then work...

    I've tried them on every city. It only worked once on New Hattan, but they dissappeared the next time i started the game..

    Yes, they works here... they're a bit slow in loading, and sometimes they forget to load, but I can see them.

    Something from the secret development of next unlocker mod.

    Crashes in GEM mode are caused by an "epic fail" from Monte Cristo. The named in the same way both bus line functions and ski line functions... They had no time to add other functions so they just overwrote all the gem ones (so, when they released bus, they were already planning not to release gems).

    Fixing such a bug can be a real hard work.

    When they created the first files for GEMs (2008) only few things were outside the main exe... small values, tags and so on. Then probably they started thinking about modding, so they started porting all the functions hardcoded in the exe in external files (lua). For time reasons they didn't finish this porting (at least not in our version - as we don't know what they did in all the months before closing)  and so many things can't be changed.

    I hope that all the bugs are in the external files... so they can be fixed.

    But since we're talking about abandoned and unfinished stuff, probably nothing can be done.

    Anyway, from what I've seen in files, GEM micromanagement is quite complex! From the domain entrance you hire workers that work in your resort. Without them the resort can't be used by tourists.

    Workers need houses... And there should be also a control-by-season: when the ski season ends, then your resort becomes empty!

    I'm trying to disable bus functions, to see what's the main bug that generates the bug chain.

     If I find it, then everything should work fine (except missing things of course).

    EDIT: Yeah! Here's the error!

    BuildingInCityModularSelection:FillDescriptionBusTerminus in FillDescription function, buildingincitymodularselection.lua.

     Disabling that function the crash disappear (ok, I destroyed one of the main functions of gembus, but I solved something). I'm gonna change element names so the conflict disapears too!

    EDIT2: No, making a filldescription for gems is too hard for me. There's the localization for all the items (so I know their name) but unfortunately I don't know all the simulation functions and all the other things linked. I can't do such a big work (at least not for free 3.gif <- just kidding, don't worry).

    Tried to create fake button that open gemski panels... functions are linked, graphics are there, in files... but in many places they used old functions (probably included in the exe, and then removed) with syntax errors.

    For example, to open the gemski overview panel, game needs information about tourists, tracks and workers... unfortunately none of them are included in simulation infos. So I tried to remove workers panel (because it causes ctd), now that function works, but the next one fails again and so on... for hundreds of functions.

    Main errors should be in the entity lua file, used to check building tags.  But to really get GEMs working, everthing should be written again from 0.

    Something worked in previous versions of .exe. But they can't be used anymore, since there are errors regarding version check in (Monte Cristo) servers...

    Ok, I'm gonna add some news:

    Testing phase of the Unlocker Mod v3 is finished. Release date planned for next week. Here's a list of features added:

    * GemSki

     - snow covered roads, bridges and tunnels

     - Ski tracks and all the ski domain (eyecandy only)

     - Snow covered village items

    * GemBeach

     - sand covered roads and tunnels

     - pilotis road now can be placed on both ground and water

     - beach and village items

    * Snap railroad to station

    * Railroad bridges and tunnels

    * Save now button

    * Exit without saving button

    * No more crashes with blueprints

    * Shipyard can now be placed on both water and ground

    * Included content from the Kiwispanker's patch

    * Removed landmarks from big offices

    * Fixed compatibility with cities created with previous versions

    The Unlocker Mod v2 download page on the STEX will be overwritten by the PakUnpak edition of the Unlocker Mod. While the version 3 will use a whole new page.

    Some new bugs in the Gem Mode... but no way to fix them at the moment.

    I discovered more functions that should enable traffic on waterways, airways, ski tracks and railroads... but there's a big bug somewhere, since nothing works.

    Expect a patch after the release
