You should create your own textures, you can use stuff found in cgtextures and the photoshop or gimp to modify them

This looks like a step in the right direction from what I can see, but to be honest the zoom 4 shot makes it a bit hard to judge the textures. I'm really glad to see that you keep working on this building because it's really beautiful, and I think you have what it takes to doe the building justice. :)

Yeah Thank you. I ve modeled all facades in 3D now but still looks weird... I think the problem is all about texture. That sort of green dark does not convict me...

What do u think of the general form of the building? does it look ok or should I add some more stuffs...? Of course, u can comment for textures, I need some more advices I think. Do i need to to turn down some colours? Make some brighter? or for some litteraly changing the color?

Sorry if it's taking a while and forgvie me for not having a hasty response sooner.

Well as TWrecks said this is certainly a step in the right direction. Its looking much better!

I am concerned about the area of the building(that connects to Knoll building you have there)...it could be the illusion of the photo or the ingame mechanics themselves but that area seems to have columns and windows much slimmer than the rest of the building and out of proportion... Is the building like that in real life?

The facade at the top of the building appears almost completely flat...maybe you can extrude the details or bring them out more to avoid the flat apearance?

Also, the current roof texture(almost looks like a bunch of brown rocks in sand) has to go...I'm pretty sure this building may have a brownish concrete or asphalt on the roof but certainly not a bunch of rocks. :P

The crown is looking better, I think the crown could be darker but much less of a neon-like color.

It's still hard to see or make out the building fully thanks the the Jpeg compression. How about the next picture be a PNG format?

Can't wait to see what else you'll do with this.

The Crown is back on track. I changed again the general texture. I change the roof color. I don't think i can turn down the general ton because the real one is kind of neon like too... But it changes in every pics I see. If anyone (Vlasky) find accurate pics of the "most of the time" aspect. lol

    anyway, the changes below

That's turning out to be a big improvement! Well done. There's still stuff to do from what I see but you've taken it a step in the right direction. Well done indeed.

Look great and please do not fail to make some night light that makes me mad if you can't make any night light, you have been batting to long to not have night lights, bats with not night lights is for batting beginners.

Well we need you to be 100% done before even exporting! :)

I never seen an error like that before...what does you LODs look like right now?

I've never seen error code 72 before either in the time I've been BATing (a few years to say the least). It could be a LOD issue, just to make sure merge the file into a new scene.

Open a new file up, select "merge" from the "File" menu, choose your file and merge it without LOD's, lighting rigs and camera's. You'll need to reset the LOD's and lights after it merges.

There's a good thread on possible fixes for BAT error codes over at SC4 Devotion

Hopefully that will get rid of the issue, if it still persists send the file to me and I'll export it for you. I want to see this beautiful building make it into the game, a lot of our team's creations seem to have been abandoned or significantly delayed for a number of reasons...

Well we need you to be 100% done before even exporting! :)

    thecrown.png

This is the progress of the Crown. Last straight line before nitelite... I would prefer to upload the pic directly but it's absolutely not working... Dunno why.

    Sorry for now.

So I changed the roof green, and turned the general ton down, I think I obtained the closest texture to what the real one is. I added some bushs at the last terrace and on both sides of top windows. The base is composed of the mai entry, the Piaget Shop, the Bulgari store, and other smallers on the 57th street side.

Wow, those are some massive improvements! :) As far as the day view is concerned, I think this one is getting ready for a release.

I agree with T Wrecks, so far the day view is looking great. :) Can we see some shots of the whole thing now though?

BTW How is the Night lighting working? Still need some help?

This is the entire building. I still have to fix symetry on the base part windows on the other side (opposite one) but only minor things. ;)

For the nightlight everything has to be made. I asked few weeks ago to Aaron Graham if he was available to help me out to fix the niteliting for the building. I will have to ask him again if he has time to help me. :)

So u think the building general appearence and texture seem ok?

Honestly, facade and crown textures look fine. :) However, the flat lower roofs' textures, that orangish brown color...that's what's getting to me. It appears to clean. And doesn't seem that it'd be continued for every lower roof if it's supposed to be floor tiles or something.

Can't wait to see more and the night views as well.

The building looks great as a whole!

The only thing I noticed in that "full-body" shot is that the windows appear very dark, almost black. Look at nofunk's (or Jason's?) building left to it, and at that small 1x1 Maxis tower across the street - their windows are more varied and not quite so dark. I think you could add some brighter areas to your windows, and the building would benefit a lot. It would take away from that "black and white" look that it has right now, and which makes it look a tiny bit cartoonish. Making the windows a bit more varied (and brighter in some spots) could also help to bring out fine details such as the window frames - once again, check the neighbour building, where you can clearly distinguish the walls, the window frames and the actual window panes.

However, all this would sound too negative if I didn't also mention another truth: You put your building next to one that was made by absolute masters of their art, and it certainly doesn't look shabby in comparison! :) I am glad that you found the energy and dedication to continue working on this one, and you have made huge progress. You can really be proud of yourself, and I am sure that you will sort out whatever problems may remain.

You're welcome, it's a pleasure. :) Oh, and did I mention that the windows look fabulous now?

The last point to address would be the one Sgt Pepper mentioned about the rooftops. Other than that I'm pretty sure that if your building was rendered in 3dsmax, it would look just as crisp and sharp as the one next to it. If I compare it with the Maxis building across the street, it's really spot on, Maxis quality. It should look great between those Maxis skyscrapers of the Chicago/NY tilesets!

I have a friend who have the 3Dmax but I don't have any idea of how long it will take to get it. I m sure this will add some more quality to the model. Maybe I could send it to a team member...

Well, people with 3dsmax won't all run away suddenly, and neither will the STEX. I see no problem in releasing this one as a gmax render (as I said, it should look great together with Maxis buildings, which are still an important factor in most cities) and reserving the option to import it into 3dsmax later.

Besides, I guess simply importing and rendering it won't do. Since 3dsmax uses a different rendering environment, you'd probably have to remove all the textures and replace them with actual arch&design materials.

@Aaron : the building has no light for now. I wanted to ask and if you get time to help me for this "action" :)

I made this very quickly too, The Vuitton Store (straight in front of the Crown). I will release it in the same time than the Crown. just take a look. I rescale it a little smaller. Question : Am i right to release a building with other Maxis building near (in order to have time to realize the real ones next to)?
