In order for your BATs to show up in the Lot Editor, you need to use the Plugin Manager.

In the Plugin Manager, drag and drop your .SC4Model (visible in the column to the right), into one of the categories in the column to the left. Then fill out the form with appropriate numbers, and click OK.

Then in the Lot Editor, open an existing lot, which is the same type as what you made it in the Plugin Manager. If you dragged and dropped the .SC4Model into the CO$$ category, then open a CO$$ lot in the Lot Editor. At this point, when you replace the building in the Lot Editor, only buildings that would fit on the lot will show up. So if your lot is currently a 1x1, but your building would only fit on a 4x4 lot, then you need to make the lot 4x4 tiles or bigger in order for the building to show up in the list in the Lot Editor.

You have to center the model in gmax. 2.gif And you probably need to refit the LODs. And also, the model is far from completion.

The building is off center because the model is off center in the gmax file. I just group everything together and move the X and Y to 0, 0, then reexport the model. Don't move the Z down to zero because that would make part of it underground. As for the building, it looks oversized; I suggest you scale it down a bit. Otherwise, I think it looks pretty decent, just work on the windows, and maybe fix some of the texture maps on the door overhang and the roof junk.

Also, try not to make consecutive posts; you can put more than one picture into one post you know. If you need to change part of a post, edit it.

Your example picture is of one of my BATs, so I can answer you about the roof texture.   It is not a simple jpg applied to the roof like a gmax texture.  The texture is a blend of a concrete material with a random cellular pattern to add 'dirt' which was created in the Max materials editor.

You could get the same effect for a texture to apply in gmax by taking a concrete texture and then using Photoshop or Gimp to add layers - I'd suggest mixing clouds and noise at various opacities.

BTW - I'm not sure why you blanked out the company logo on the building - it is a fictional company name.

I'll take a look at the model and let you know how the windows were done. I'll post something tomorrow for you.

I use 3ds Max so a lot is done with materials which can't be done in gmax.  Some things you can get close to with the basic textures available to gmax, but glass and metals are difficult.

Hopefully, if I give details of what I've done in Max, someone will be able to let you know how to get a comparable look in gmax.

OK.  I'll start with the easy question.  How to export a model for the game from 3ds Max.   Download BAT4Max 4.5 and Let There Be Light by SimFox.   Follow the instructions to the letter.  The exported building will be as good as your modelling and SC4 resolution will allow! (At least until SimFox finds another way to improve things)

    Textures on my model ...

All glass is the standard thin-walled glass texture in 3ds Max arch + design materials with a little extra colour  added using the reflectivity colour - values are R: 0.725 G: 0.812 B: 0.847.  This give a very slight  blue cast to the reflections in the glass.  I also use a texture on a ground level plan to give the glass something to reflect.  This is simply a cityscape captured from Bing birds-eye view.

Material for the 'glass' over the  entrance:  This is not really a glass material; it is more like a translucent plastic.  Translucency is set to 0,7; glossiness on the reflection is set at 0.35 and colour has RGB all set to 0.031.  Any colour tint is due to reflection of the sky.  Again I've used arch+design material.

This is unlikely to be much help as you are using gmax. but as I said in my last post maybe someone will be able to give you some hints on getting a similar look using textures in gmax.

    escritoriocdrenosavarze.jpg

    industriaescritorioguar.jpg

But not a copy of these buildings, takeing inspiriration of this architecture and puting a little cmercial build, and you can trust me or not i had a things in mind to a build like in photo you can see it in my previous work in photos i posted previous i found a thing i liked very much:

    industriaescritoriofilt.jpg

I love black windows glass protection UV this take a touch of technology.

    See my work: https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/details.cfm?id=24512

I don't like make a copies i like make a original things.what do you think about this? but can you see the comercial building, the concrete separate i will make a unique concrete piece without separations. Today in real world it's so easy to make. i can't understand why the engineers didn't make a unique concrete piece.

I think you should make couple of copies to get a sense of what building is and how it is arranged both practically and architecturally . Many beginners think that if they will not copy something it would be easier. In fact it is not true. I mean yes you can make a box and call it HT, yet it will not be. And to create something that would be convincing takes a lot of sense, experience and vision.

yes simfox i understand to make a ht build is not easy but in real world this second photo represents a industry of filters that you can think manufacturing industry right? but the tecnology, research system to produce this is infact high technology cause this product is ecological correct new materials and other improvements that i wrote, now i say: you'r right we see a box we don't see a build like game research like electronic robots or other HT builds in game. In fact this build envolving manufacturing to and as i did can wrote all industrial processes in game less agricultural. What kind industrial would it be in game?

I would make it based on where you want it to grow. If you make it agricultural, it will grow in the middle of farm fields in a rural setting, if you make it manufacturing, it will grow among factories, and if you make it high tech, it will grow among those. I would probably make it high tech.

i will work on it and posting photos so yu say me your impressions and together we'll see, but in my mind i'll do possible to make HT. Know when you working a build you hide and unhide objetcs no, but when i unhide objects the max unhide the lights to is there a way to work with lights always hide without interfering when i hide and unhide all in my project?it is when i unhide all i wanna unhide all less lights!senzatitolo4copiak.jpg

I don't think you need it, since those will never be seen. You should also think hard about if you really need any interior. If you gonna make it in a same technique as you did your previous building then you don't. Rather you should sort out that black smudge problem. It is most probably some overlapping vertices there.

Another tip, once you are happy with a given portion of the wall, attach it to already finished once - try to keep all logical parts of your model as single objects.
