Thanks to all for your comments! It's a pleasure... I know, a lot of these suburbs looks like the other one, but...it's sprawling...48.gif

A lot of people post a commentary, it's a little difficult for me to make a personnal answer, why the most of them are on page 8...

I tried to explain to TJD my concept, but with my limited vocabulary and my low level in english, It's probably a little bit confuse...

I've tried to make the same region view that TJD do on his CJ... but I don't know how 37.gif
If somebody has an idea 44.gif

    Thanks to all!

I think that explanation was quite clear.

I don't know how TheJerseyDevil did that, but there is a program called Region Census with which you can take pictures from your whole region, but also see the city's stats without starting the game...

The new runways look great. Are they from the SimWings pack? Anyways, I love that transportation map 36.gif. Great job.

I wonder if you have a larger version of that map. Maybe you could upload it to imgeshack (or whichever service you're using) and post the link or thumnail here, so that we could enjoy the large map as well.

However, keep up your fantastic work Mr. Beer.

To PhilsCafe: Thanks! Yuk, I did a mistake: due to an error of file manipulation, I destroy the original (the only one I have is the Imageshack reduction, so I can't enlarge it, too bad resolution. I'll do an another this weekend.
For large pics, the problem come from Imageshack, with its maximum size of 1024 kB/pictures...I'll try...

And yes, the runways come from SimWing Pack...It's long to build when your knowledge about airport/plane regulation are around zero...but the result looks great!

    To Micah: Thanks, dude! 35.gif

Fantastic work with the satellite view. Your region looks so real (I'm sure I've already told you that, but, well, it's true!). And the road map: awe - some!

    Keep it up.

I really like your use of highway interchanges and the blending on the region view---your highways, interstates, and other roads flow smoothly throughout the region, creating the best impression of a real-world satellite image. I love your suburban and industrial areas (your towns are ones that can do good in the looks department without skyscrapers). Anyway, keep up the good work.1.gif'); height=15 alt=Insert smilie 1.gif src=https://community.simtropolis.com/assets/emoticons/1.gif width=15 border=0>

Very impressive updates. I like the regional views. Also the flat view looks well. I found using that with real maps is a great way to show people the effort put into the region. A few questions though...
Where did you get the map of the region?
What scale do you use? How did you come about it?
Is it only the main roads that are recreated accurately?
I'm curious because of how fast this has been made and how great this region looks. Like I have said before there is a very very small handfull of city journals I look at. And I find this one to resemble my own efforts the most. By looking at alot of your maps I now understand how some feel when looking at mine. Its great to see someone else do this level of work. At times I wish there where more CJ's like this yet at other times I like having just a few that can stand out to this level of recreation.

Thanks to all for your participation in this City Journal (not the best in the presentation and aesthetic)
I came frome the Trixie Award 2005 and I saw just that I've got nominated! What a surprise! 36.gif
So, I must now to be equal to the situation... 44.gif

Just copy and past to your address tool bar!

To Nardo69: Thank you Bernhard! Don't spend to much time on your computer!

To PhilsCafe: You're welcome! Thanks to you to visit my CJ too! I must to visit your more often!

To cityhawk: Thanks...but the difficulties with a north american style metropolitain area, suburbs are like each others...so it would become a little bit boring...(I'm not recrating Phoenix, AZ, so 1.gif...)

To TheJerseyDevil73: Congratulations for your nominations! Flat view are very usefull, so I discoverd some tools on Photoshop I've never used...
The map is from my own production, using an yahoo maps, paintbrush and photoshop for the greyscale.
So I measured approximately the width of the Mississippi at the level of the I-10 bridge and I've got ~ 1km, so I scalled my region in consequence, but some lakes are not very accurates...
Roads are scaled approximatively on the downtown area, but I did to refer on the game orthoganality.
It's fast (an entire afternoon = ~ 6 to 7 hours for each map and more for the downtown).
I put the roads, streets, etc. and after I zone, I put some rewards and the utilities and than I plop greens and at I start the simulation to the maximum, after 10 years, I stop, and I make some corrections (polpping herbs or house on undevelloped areas and some minor corrections) After that, the city is done, but if I found something to exhaust, I restart the city to make the improvement...
Your work is more impressive why you spend a lot of time with satellite view, recreating the exact replica, not only the layout of the transportation network, but houses, farms, warehouses etc. are so replicated as the same in the reality!
