 City of Branhattan

(no fancy banner...yet)

Hello everyone and welcome to my very first CJ attempt!

My CJ is going to be about my favorite city of Branhattan that I'm creating. It's a large city in the nation of Prosperous that is vastly growing. The Branhattan Metro Area is full of great buildings and intresting neighborhoods and districts. It's skylines are full of random art-deco and modern skyscrapers, down to beautiful mid and low rises. It is also full of interesting history. However, it's still a work in progress, as it is a re-creation from my busy imagination.

Let's take a look at a few pics-

12211lf.jpg

A part of Branhattan's largest park, known as Fair Greens. One of the famous parks in the city, famed for certain City events and it's zoo. It's zoo is full of animals that are desendants of previous wild life that existed in Branhattan years and years ago before the Metro Area took over. The Park it self also boasts two natural lakes left un-touched by construction. You can see the second smaller lake peeking out in the upper right.

Here is another pic, showing the varied and random buildings the city has to offer-

mll0d4.jpg

Here, you can see most of the historic Art-Deco buildings mixed with many more modern structures that mix in the area. One of the most famous and tallest skyscrapers is the Art-Deco Chrystal Building(currently 3rd tallest) built by Walter P. Chrystal in the early 30's and was part of the seemed to never end Race To Have Prosperous's Tallest Building that lasted about 50 Years.

And for our last pic in this update, a night shot-

m78axy.jpg

Here, you can see the famous skyscraper(the dark brown one with the slanted glass paneled roof), PS(Pump&Scoot) Gas Co. Center peeking out behind some local apartment buildings in an area in the Financial District. Pump & Scoot Gas Co. are well known Gas Stations around every SimNation, and decided to build their HeadQuarters in one of the busiest districts in Prosperous. It was built in the Mid 70's by PS Gas Co. CEO Sayl McOyal, who started the Pump&Scoot Gas chain in the late 40's. Most of their oil comes from off shore Oil rigs not to far from Branhattan.

Well that's it for now, stay tuned for the next update which will be a historic one! And please bear with me here, it's my first CJ.3.gif I'll try to make it intresting and fancy as I go. I hope the pics are the right size, I got them around the 800x600 or 600x800 range. I hope ya'll like it so far! Comments, welcome!10.gif

     I actually got some replies!

GuerrilaWarfare- Hehe..I hope my "originality" on this is a good thing.17.gif Welcome to Branhattan!

Schulmanator- Thanks! And welcome to Branhattan! Glad you like them.1.gif

    Update-

First, lets take a look at the region view!

    primaryregion.jpg

As you can see there is still much work to be done! I plan to fill the entire region(only small parts of it shown) with urban and suburban development.

And now for aHistoric Branhattan update- A blast from the past!

    telivisionrow.jpg

In this photo, you can see the old neighborhood of Telivision Row. The entire neighborhood was demolished in the early 60's to make room for Branhattan's WTC. It was named Telivision Row, for the once popular Talk Show, Branhattan Daily Show, which was aired and filmed in one of the buildings in the late 20's through the mid 40's. The original name of the neighborhood was Baltimore Row.

    filmbuilding.jpg

Here, you can see the once famous Branhattan Daily Show Building on the street corner, the tall square one with the cut-off corner. When the TV show was cancelled, the building was left for sale and was turned into a mixed used building, with a resturaunt on the bottom floor, office space, and apartments, until it was demolished for the WTC with the other buildings.

However, Telivision Row, after the cancel of the show, became a den of crime.

    crimes.jpg

The area became more filled with low-wealth acomidations, crime lords, and gangsters through out. This den of crime short lived, but was very famous for its gangsters-

    24fbrt0.jpg

Most of them were regarded as celebrities. The most famous gangster, was Mickey McBanquerob, whom was famous for robbing small stores and local banks in the area. The most famous action was his last, when he, his gangster pals, and his wife, had a shoot out with police.

    closed.jpg

After the area was cleaned, it still continued to go into a short decline, with businesses closing down, like the theater and the building next to it above. However, the neighborhood became more decent in the 50's as investors touched it up do to how close it was to the famous and glistening Financial District, even though businesses flocked to the Financial District regardless of any surrounding neighborhood. However, the investors were out-invested when the area was purchased and demolised for more Financial District Space- the WTC.

    pedbridge.jpg

Here, you can see a current photo of the WTC with one of the Financial District Banks nearby.

That's it for Update #2. Keep an eye out for the soon to come next update. The cities and areas you'll see here I plan to mix with New York, Louisiana, and any other place, like Asian Cities and more. Comments, suggestions, and questions are welcome my friends! 9.gif

Very impressive though looks like a lack of connection to the other side of the river (I saw three bridges) plan on using ferys as well? Also why is there a patch of farm land in that dense area? It bugs me.

Good job though, it's like your own verson of New York

Perhaps the ghost of Mickey is haunting the other side of the river?

Amazing region view. You really developed those tiles densely.

Markus J: There is 3 bridges(2 highway bridges and 1 small road bridge) connecting the area to the rest. Also, I do plan on using more ferries, as there was allready a couple of ferry piers there. I probably should have shown the Transportation View.2.gif Oh and about the farm land, that city tile was the second I started on, and there was lots of farm demand in the beginning of the devolopment so I developed farms. Most of the farms were developed over, but I didn't get to that area yet.

Archean: Most likely, there is a creepy cemetary on the other side of Branhattan that he was buried in.31.gif And thanks about the Region, it's still a work in progress. Much more to develop!

British_Petroleum: Haha yea, I'm using the NHP New Orleans Map, the real city's land is very low. New Orleans, when it was first founded was actually built on top of a swamp.

    UPDATE:

First, we will take a look at a more current region view-

    currentregion.jpg

There has slightly been more development in this area, but there's more to the west.

    Now the Transportation View-

    transportation.jpg

Here you can see the vast networks and ferry routes throughout. You can also see where all the densely close roads are in the Financial District to the lower right of the main area.

And Now for the main part of the update-

A local Sim resident in the area walks along a tight rope in between Branhattan's World Trade Center-

    tightrope.jpg

(hope you can see the sim3.gif)

His name was Alfred Mendrel. He visited the WTC earlier, and took the elavator to the top floor of the North Tower(WTC1) and found his way to the roof. At first, he was regarded as a simple visitor to the towers by staff and security, until they noticed from the window a man walking across a rope to the South Tower(WTC2). Many tourists on the Observation Deck on Tower 2 noticed him coming and were shocked to see him make it all the way across that high up. He greeted the tourists, shook their hands, and they even took pictures with him. But, when he took the elavator in Tower 2 down to the lobby, he was greeted by local authorities that arrested him. However, he was shortly released after 2 hours at a local Branhattan Police Station. He was from a foriegn nation, and he has been doing acts like this for years now, but always wanted to attempt the WTC.

"From where I'm from," he said to local interviewers, "I'm applauded for my talent. Here, I'm applauded, and arrested."

(This short story in my CJ was infact inspired by a true story)

All circus acts aside, we will take a look at two more pictures. First, we will see some of the distinctive Wall to Wall buildings in the Financial District, peeking out behind the Bank of Branhattan Building-

    w2wbuildings.jpg

Lastly, an old pic from Branhattan's Historic Industrial District more north from the Financial District-

    industrialdistrict.jpg

Here, on a not so busy day, you can see the Gregor Station, originally built in the 1890's but was renovated in the 1920's. It's the largest frieght and passenger station in the Nation of Prosperous and is still used to this day.

Thats it for now, I hope you enjoyed this update! Comments, questions, and suggestions welcome!

Mayorm: Thank you very much! And I'll see about getting this Cj there, though it will be confusing with multiple posting sites...46.gif

Francis90b: Francis! Welcome! Yep, just made this CJ.9.gif Thank you, I hope others find my Cj as interesting.4.gif Speaking of CJs, when will we see an update in yours?

Now for the Update- I've been re-working some of Branhattan's Parks as it develops.

    branhattantreeparksummer.jpg

Here, we can see Branhattan Fortress Park, located in the Watergate District, in the early summer. The many trees shade most of the park, making it cool during the summer. Joggers and runners prefer this area for it's shade and view of the Treesisippi River.  I hope ya'll like the green park lots with the seasonal trees, I lotted those myself.9.gif

    branhattantreeparkfall.jpg

In the beautiful fall, we can see the lovely park below some Watergate Skyscrapers.

    castle.jpg

A close up of Branhattan's Cannon Fortress durring the Winter. This fortress was built to protect the city's original port from pirates during the mid 1700's . Since then, the fort has gone through some aging, but was renovated many times before, keeping itslef almost looking as it did then.

Lastly, aside from the parks we will see a night photo of the Financial District-

    financialdistrictnightview.jpg

Enjoy this update everyone! Comments and questions are welcome! Keep an eye out on a new update.

Thanks for the comments guys. 4.gif

    Mayorm-Thanks! 9.gif

    British_Petroleum- Thanks BP!

So I've been thinking...I really want to re-do alot of things in my region of Prosperous with Branhattan and other areas, which includes starting over on the cities with fancier stuff(like NAM). So expect a huge change and update soon...or a little while later. It's my first Cj, so I want to make it good and experiment... but it will remain Branhattan! Fortress Park and places you've seen so far are just simply going to be re-done.

Well everyone, expect an update soon! Maybe late tonight or tomorrow. See ya'll soon with the next soon to come update!

EDIT: I'm not really sure about some of the mods now...but I'm still re-working Branhattan. Update soon.

    Aaron Graham-

Thanks and good to see you here! I would be very interested in seeing you do a CJ. 4.gif

    StanislavSoltys- Thanks! Familar gangster eh?

PhatHead- Hey thanks. Glad you like the stories with the pictures. I was hoping the black and white photos would come out nice.29.gif

I have an update sooner than I thought. Though, I started over completely in my region to get certain networks and things better(and just for fun), I've remade some of Branhattan's areas and still working on it. Some of the areas you've seen are remade. So things are still the same a bit...

Below, we will see Branhattan City hall-

    cityhallparkfall.jpg

A nice view of the City's Courthouse and City Hall peeking out behind the Apartment buildings in the fall. You can also see the statue of one of Branhattan's earliest mayors, Jasper von Pitreman III. The statue was a dedication as he shined up most of Branhattan in around the 1880's. The Statue was built in the early 1900's a few years before he died of old age. He was known for planning green open areas in Branhattan since he predicted, with the city's highly successful trade, that urbanization would take over most of the city's boundries completely(though even in that time the city was very urban and spread out). He also ordered the construction of that courthouse you see there, The Pitreman Courthouse, which is currently a musuem to some of the city's famous mayor's.

Next we will look at another historic area, in the Industrial District-

    industrialwinter.jpg

On a winter day, you can see the Industrial Lighthouse near one of the Historic factories and police stations. The lighthouse was originally constructed in the 1800's to guide ships through foggy nights and mornings. The fog usually covered much of the city's short skyline at that time and even covered the water. There were several ship wrecks, mostly on Branhattan's coast lines. Though, the Lighthouse no longer serves it's main purpose as it did then, it's light still functions and is turned on every night until the late morning as a tradition and to amuse Branhattan Tourists. Most of it's pictures come from night views all the way from Branhattan's World Trade Center, which the light can be seen turning and shining.

That concludes this update. Comments and suggestions welcome! Oh and if ya'll know some good mods(like maybe some mods that replaces the street trees or something or changes the road texture or sidewalk textures or anything esle) you can suggest them to me if ya feel like it. I have room for certain improvements on my first CJ. 2.gif

    JGellock- Thank you very much!

Schulmanator- Thanks my friend! Awsomeness is my goal. 19.gif

    Update-

Yes, an update. Let's see some more of Branhattan today shall we?

    branhattanwatergatebridgeentrance.jpg

Here we see the Watergate District's Watergate Brigde's green entrance. Before we continue on to another area, let's give a round of applause to One Watergate Plaza there for standing tall and proud near this beautiful area. Also, excuse the suburban appearance, this area is still being worked on since I started from scratch...

Now let's look at some night photos.

    watergatedistrictnight.jpg

The illuminated shops and appartments of this midrise neighborhood south of the Financial District. We can see Coca-Cola is taking over that corner shop, making it busy in this area.

And the last pic for this update-

    nightwtc.jpg

A busy, over saturated, full of contrast night at Branhattan's World Trade Center.

Comments and suggestions welcome. Keep an eye out for upcoming updates.
