Additional Network Feature/function(s)

Hopefully the Subject title isn't to obscure, I couldn't think what else to call it.

Well I was going through some files earlier, and thought I'd try something out. The following stuff builds on a discovery that was made by ALTX (I think, if I remember correctly). Some of these items/functions however have only been made possible because of some changes that were made to the games files, hence why it's here in the modding section;

EDIT: dead image links have been removed. End edit.

Of course the outcome of some of these items is already possible. What I've done though is make doing some of these a bit more easier, least I would hope to think so. There's also some other additional stuff that's possible apart from the above pics, along with opening up some more possibilities. Of course it won't be for everyone, but I'm sure a number of you would like to try some of this stuff out. There's some little quirks that come with it, but I don't see them as any big deal. As for their functionality, well that's yet to be fully explored, but I can't see why they wouldn't work.

Before I can release anything, at all, though, I still need to work out some issues, but hopefully it won't take to long. In the mean time though, let us know what you think.

You should have waited a day, Tropod.  3.gif  Considering the timing and the current changes on the site, I can't help but wonder whether this is real or another well-crafted piece of a very elaborate prank...  9.gif

I suspect the latter and applaud Tropod for it. He must have taken a long time to make those pictures. 5.gif

LOL 21.gifFunny you should say that. Actually, I thought about putting in a note stating it's not an april fools prank, as I only realised it was April 1st after I posted it. But then I thought, nnoo I won't. I don't think I'm that good with a Paint Program, of any sort. I just happened to stumble onto this earlier this afternoon.

    Exellent job!!!4.gif25.gif
It's definitly looking Grate and I sure will use some of this innovations.
What I haven't quite understood is that:
Does this stuff fix the major bug in the game that doesn't allow to build transit line of one type (for ex. road) across the curved section of different type(say, monorail) transit line?

I'm not quite sure what you're referring to. What I'm doing here is adding additional stuff, not fixing bugs 41.gif. For that [bugs] you should post your concern and specific bug(s) problems [in a detailed fashion] in the following thread:  https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=40005&pageNo=13

When I get what I'm doing all together, people will be able to try this out for themselves and play around with it to their frustrations  hearts content 3.gif.

This is looking quite awesome, and something I've actually been wanting to see for quite a while.

But I'm curious, is a transition from elevated to ground highway possible with this?  my bad, I just noticed the last pic is actually of exactly this.

Additionally, can it be done with normal rail in addition to the elevated and monorails?

    Read the README file41.gif.

I don't quite understand what it is you're getting at. There's no visually added items in the Menu if that's what you're getting at. This stuff involves trickery, in a manner of speaking. You need to experiment with this stuff a little, i.e. the various network tools.

All the mod does is let you make those highways by dragging another network over the side of the highway you don't want.
It doesn't add any new menu items or anything like that, just ENABLES you to do it.

ermm.. sorry to revitalise an old thread 3.gif but if i want to perform them operations in the two pics in this thread that are still working.. do i still need to use the attached file in here...???? coz i just downloaded the update of NAM/ANT

actually surely i cant, you have to remove all previous mods of this kind... can the same things pictured here be done with the new NAM/ANT? i already knew how to do this with highways..

Just got SimCity 4 Deluxe & I'm installing NAM. Guess that I'm too late to use the info in this thread, since the off-site pics won't load. Were they removed?

    Thanks

Not really. Where the images were hosted just no longer exist. Often times though, hosted images may no longer be active because they've not been viewed much or are old. From what I recall though, the missing images were mostly just images showing how one network can be drawn over (half of) another network. Pretty much similar to those images still there.

Tropod - Thanks for the reply, & removing the dead links. The page now loads completely.

Sorry if I seemed overbearing. I just installed SimCity 4 Deluxe & the latest NAM on my recently-built PC, & was following all the links in the NAM documentation to learn all that I could about using this great add-on mod.

Keep up the great work. Perhaps I can help in some way (graphics/textures) in the future, once I learn about the programming behind SimCity 4 & NAM. The wealth of info on this site is vast, so any direction to specific threads to learn more would be greatly appreciated.
