I do a lot of lotting in my spare time which mostly includes airports. So, I wanted to share my creations to the members of simtropolis.

Current Project/s:

  • Prefab Runway - regional airports DONE!
  • Prefab Gates - The CRJ Series is currently being worked on where icons and lot stats are being added. Filler pieces are being worked on, too
  • Creating custom icons - I lost the template.. so thank you Omnibus for having another one.
  • 744 Cargo planes - Like the CRJ Series, icons and lot stats are being worked on. Fillers are completed c/o RMIP.
Released Lots:
  • Shorter runway aiming point
  • Shorter blastpad
  • No taxiway runway threshold
  • 744 Cargo planes with closed doors

I have added a new poll. Please answer the poll and help make my lot releases accurate.

    UPDATE

Props and CRJ's not your thing? What about some a320, 737 gates. Not to worry. If you like CRJs and prop planes, they'll also belong. Though there are fewer gates, they'll be able to handle larger planes and more passengers.

Here's a pic for comparative purposes. Notice that the lot's bigger which means I'll also be editing the runway so that the textures'll match.

*Note that the props on BOTH lots are NOT final yet. (need to liven it up A LOT more)

    23uy0wl.jpg

My next project will be adding some more lots to RMIP 2.

Open to all suggestions. Just comment below.

Looks pretty useful for building smaller airports. Keep it up.

    UPDATE

I've currently been workin' on the runways. Many people want to make small runways for small regional airports which don't require taxiways at the end of each runway. Because of this, I have made some tiles to go with those kinds of airports. So.. I made some smaller kinds of lots.

Here's for a comparison between my lots (below) and the original RMIPs (above)

    if99ua.jpg

As you can see, my lots are smaller and therefore fit the small airport scenery. However, The blastpads are NOT compatible as the textures don't match. The blastpads are compatible with the original RMIP since I found theirs to be too big.

This next picture is to see whether my creations would blend in with the RMIP.

    2vjv0yd.jpg

As you can also see, it blends in quite nicely. I'm now working on adding the lights. After that, custom icons which is what should take me a while.

Still open to suggestions. Just comment below.

Wow! Looks great, I really appreciate Lot'ers like you that do airport things because with Windows 7 my LE doesnt work any more, so i just have to wait for stuff to get released rather than Lot it myself 15.gif

    Great work!

    UPDATE

I've finally been able to get the lights, and the icons to work. (Who knew that making icons was SO easy; getting the lights to work... WASN'T) Along with the icons and lights, the lot details such as plop cost, monthly cost, description, etc. I'm currently in the process of getting the dependencies for these two lots even though the only known dependency is the RMIP 2 set. I've also decided to release the blastpad separately as it doesn't go with the runway threshold.

Still open to suggestions and requests.

Wow! I'm impressed. I almost feel this should be called RMIP-3, as the last one was RMIP-2. Keep it up! It looks great.

And ooh! Do I see variable textures? Really nicely done!

    UPDATE

Now that I finally got the two first lots released, I'm now working on the prefab runway/s. Currently, the lights still need to be done along with icons,  lot stats and the terminals. Generally, this will be a 58 x 4 tile runway (excluding terminal)which can easily fit a small sized city tile which should also be enough for the kind of airport it is. I've removed the extra grass textures so that terminal placement if free and unconstrained.

Actually, RMIP-3 LAE (Large Airport Edition) is in development by the AC Team.

I actually like to think of this as an RMIP 2 addon. (addon within an addon) 3.gif

    UPDATE

I've recently been having problems with Google Chrome which is my primary web browser. Because of this, I haven't updated this thread in a while. I'll be updating again once Chrome's been dealt with. Kinda annoying little browser.

I know the feeling... I get that on my browser a lot. How will the current RMIP terminal/ramp/taxiway textures be compatible with those prefab taxiways and runways? I'm worried of a texture conflict. But I'm sure there is a solution.

    UPDATE

I finally got chrome working but been busy with some things as SCHOOL (i hate it) will begin in exactly 30 hours, and about 27 minutes. Tomorrow, I'll be finishing off the runway to be ready for release. Not that it won't be compatible with the RMIP. Further releases WILL include the planes lotted respectfully. Please vote on what you'd like me to lot first on the poll.

citiesxlfan42: To be honest, they won't be compatible with each other. I'll be releasing this as an entirely independent project aside from the RMIP runway addons. As for texture conflicts, do not worry, I'll be lotting DOZENS of planes which include a320s, 737s, CRJs, ATRs, and some Dash-8s. I'll also be extending the runway to accommodate the a320s and such but I'll also have shorter ones JUST for ATRs.

Hi - I just wanted to say that the CRJs would be most beneficial for most people to make regional airports and/or large international airports, as they can be very functional. You do a great job with your lots, keep up the good work!

    UPDATE

Hey all. It's been a very long time since I last updated. I've been very busy with school but I found this something lying around my plugins folder. I've yet to even start lotting the planes to be honest as I 'm not sure about the markings i'll be using.

Lotted cargo planes! Thank you very much, kingdiz! Do these props exist in "operation" mode, I mean, with open doors and all this stuff...?

BTW, about your poll, I'd love to see some lotted ATR turboprops. I know thepokemaniac is right, but I just like the ATR's...

    Great job!

@TekindusT: They will be released in three different versions. A timed version, one with open cargo doors, and the last version having all doors closed. I'm still in the process of adding props at the moment so hopefully it won't take long.

Hit me with it if I'm wrong, but I don't think that 747 cargo planes are terribly realistic for small airports. I live in a city where we have an airport like this, a hub for FedEx(who have, like, A320s or 757s for thier cargo) and 8 gates for ATRs and CRJs. If I were you, I think I would try A300s, A310s, or 757s for cargo props. But the project is coming along nicely.

Idd like to see textures that can cooperate with the prefab runway taxiway textures. Right now, it looks wierd with the sudden lighter texturres for the gates.

yes! now I can have a realistic pre fab airport! The AC ones were good for a while, but... eh they just don't look very realistic. i mean, i got it all the way upgraded and there was a jumbo jet parked there. but i couldn't think of a possible way it could have gotten to its gate without clipping its wings on other parked planes along the lone taxiway. >_>'

    Replies:

citiesxlfan42: The 747s aren't meant for the regional airports I'm making but rather for the RMIP.

Animaniacs: Hopefully you do download 3.gif

sepen20: As you can see in this update, the textures for the gates are almost the same color as the taxiway.

jeffsandychelsea: Once I realease this, everyone can have neat airports, too. I also managed to make this airport slightly bigger for added regional realism.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I was just about to abandon my projects but seeing as though the thread is still alive, I still went on with it. Currently, I've lotted the CRJs which won on the polls. There are 10 lots which include an unoccupied version and 9 lots with liveries. The other remaining livery couldn't fit in the picture but is still included. Soon, I will be moving to getting the icons and then the lot stats. As for now, this is in the "for release" line. I expect to be able to release this by at the very least this Thursday since I have major exams this week.

*Note: Filler puzzle pieces will also be included and are currently in the works.

    2jagf7q.jpg

Once done, I can now proceed to lotting ATR aircraft. Hopefully I can get it ALL done within a week since there are much more ATR planes.

    UPDATE

After a little more modding and lots of testing, I found that the let lacked filler lots like that of the 737s which made linking the gates together via markings possible. Because of this, I lotted new fillers and for the gates to cope, the gates have been downsized to have a width of 3 and a depth of just 2 from the original 3. I would also like to note that the runway has been lengthened from it's original length of 58 to its new length of 64.

    Progress shot:

    11r4xzp.jpg

Since that's been taken care of, I can now get a zoom out picture of what progress I've made.

As much as I would love to, I cannot do this as the airgates are connected to the planes as one prop.
