New Simcity Player(well for macs)

Basically, played Simcity 4 to death on my old PC, and  then foolishly sold my pc.

2 years later, I've a Macbook and a £40!! copy of Simcity 4 for it. It runs fine, no issues.(that said I spend more times perfecting my terra-forming and then being unhappy with it then making cities)

But I digress, basically. What downloads are available for me? I have the Sc4 rushhour deluxe version.

But i sorely miss the NAT(well... the highway textures and the retaining walls - I like making coastal/hilly towns)

and the general scenic mods - plus the money tree mod.)

Is it simply the same proccess, download... and then copy+paste into the Plugins folder and voila? Or do they need to be mac compatible?

I have a intel machine runnin the latest version of snowleopard.

Cheers for any help.

Chris.

(if push comes to shove I'll buy it cheap for windows and play it at my local internet cafe)

Most downloads should say: is/isn't for mac. Something like that. But since I'm not a mac user, (but I sometimes get to use one) I don't have an exact answer for you if you can or can't do it the same as a PC. (sorry!)

plus you can run windows and the windows version of SC4 on your intel mac... it's well worth it. But yes, most but not all .exe files can be opened using a trial version of filejuicer.

There is only one file that can not run on a mac, so feel free to download all the others.

When you run across .exe's use filejuicer, there is a sticked thread in the mac forums, that should sort everything out for you.

Nightlighting is difficult to get working, however there are ways of making buildings nightlighting compatible, I am exploring these, there are also some buildings on the STEX that have mac compatible nightlighting.

Awesome, so use Filejuicer to extract the .exes and I'm away? (and this will work for the self extracting files?)

And put them In the plugins folder?

(Just making sure, still getting used to my Mac)

So projects like the NAM? and any lots will all work?

Awesome, if thats correct. My cities will be looking alot nicer soon. It's a shame that the cd you guys distribute are hit and miss with Macs. I'd so  purchase one.

brilliant, thanks cool301, finally a filejuicer alternative. ;-)

romeovoid: yes that's all right however with certain things (i.e NAM), there is a mac version as well. I also recommend following cool's advice and trying that program.

Did you do any tweaking to get your copy working properly?

I have a 2009 Unibody Macbook and it runs like s#!t!

who were you addressing there? Are you referring to the mac version of SC4? If so good luck... the game was bad enough on PPC; it will always be an uphill battle with intel (unless you're building small cities/regions perhaps). But I urge you to get a PC (bootcamp) partition with XP or 7, and the PC version of SC4; you will thank yourself down the line.
