2.Budapest.

It has classical design and style and is one of the finest European Capitols.

I really think the bridges make Budapest a tad more unique then most cities on rivers.

Vancouver is my overall favourite city (other). Dense, Clean, Little snow, Great Location, Beautiful city just overall. On the list I'd have to say NY, it made me hate the suburbs even more. 25.gif

Why aren't there any Canadian cities? Canadian cities usually place well in the top ten most livable cities in the world.

Put me down for New York, I have many reasons why, but here are a few. NYC is one of the most diverse city's in the world. I love everything about it from Staten Island to the Bronx. Plus, it has that classic skyline.10.gif

Genoa, because of the great architecture, the wonderful port, the medditeranean climate, and the lovely pace of life there, frantic, yet so mellow..

San Diego has one of my favorite downtown areas of all the cities I've been to. It's very residential-oriented rather than commercial, with lots of sleak, tall condos along the waterfront, punctuated by plazas, fountains, nightclubs, a really cool 7-story mall, and the like.

NYC, New Orleans, San Fransisco, and Vancouver are also up there. Haven't been to Europe yet.

On the flipside, Los Angeles is definately one of the worst. It has all of NYC's bad qualities, without any of the good ones. Plus it's ugly.

    Los Gatos California.

A very little known city. It is situtated in the South Bay Area at the base of the Santa Cruz mountains. It borders San Jose and has only a population of about 28,000.

I have many relatives that live in the area and I visit there all the time. The city itself is beautiful. For starters the mountains give a great back drop for the city. The Architecture in downtown itself are mostly buildings from the early 1900's or buildings that were re-built to look like that style after the devastating 1989 earthquake. Not many people know it but the earthquake actually happened right above los Gatos in the mountains. San Francisco got all the attention for the damage it did but parts of Los Gatos was destroyed.

The actual buildings are beautiful a lot of detail of an early century look. Many of the homes in the downtown area are old victorian type homes or large homes over 100 years old. Although some of course were destroyed in the earthquake.

May I also add that Atari, Apple Computer, and The Pet Rock were all invented here. 2.gif

Well anyways I wish I had some pics of it but for some reason the pics I took of downtown last year were somehow deleted from my camera shortly after taking them. 41.gif26.gif

Yeah so Los Gatos Rules in my book. 44.gif

Everyone always over looks one of the best cities in the country and almost second capital based on federal departments (second most federal employment and almost all federal departments have a western hq).

Denver, one of the fastest developing downtowns in the country and now stunted sub-urban growth by laws in place to prevent it. Denver is an awsome city. Although it is my second it wasn't on that list so I just had to speak out 3.gif.

Chicago is my fav and Denver next since it is quite a bit like it now.

    Standby.

I don't know which one came first, but there is a bigger 'favourite city' post in the 'City Building Concepts' forum, which everyone is answering at the moment, with pictures.

Obciously I'm gonna say Montreal, because I've lived here all my life and I just love it. I've been to dozens of US big cities and I still have to say Montreal for the diverse architecture all over this beautiful city of 3.4-mil.

    Here's the skyline at night:
    <ahttp://www.geocities.com/saint_andrew_st/ST/MtlNight.jpg align=baseline>
It's only partial, we can't see all of Downtown so here's an other one, day pic.

That is from Highway 20 on Champlain Bridge, over the Saint Lawrence River.

Winnipeg(Because it has culture from all over the world, we have alot of events that go on and one of them is called Folkorama, Folkorama is when different cultures that have a pavillion and you can go and see there traditional dances and food, and the other thing I like is that its easy to get around the city since Winnipeg is not small or to huge, there only one down side that I dont like Winnipeg is are winter because we get 9 to 8 or 7 months of cold snowy winter usually in Dec/Jan/Feb are temp drops down to -35C or even -45C, but are summers are great because we get at least 3 months and the temp is usually around 35C to 45C lol its weird how we get really cold winters and really hot summers, I've lived here so far about 16 years and 3 months in half lol, thats practically all my life)

Vancouver(pretty city, I love how nature is mixed with modern city with lots of sky scrapers in the downtown area, I use to live there for 3 months in half by my self with my aunt, i went to high school there for a while in Port Moody where I was living, its part of Vancouver but its away from downtown about 45 mins, but now im back in Winnipeg and relized how wonderful it was to live in winnipeg)

Tokyo( because its crowded and lots of buildings that go on for ever, oh and I love Japanese language)

Hong Kong(because of all the tall sky scrapers, and that its crowed and pretty mountains in the background)

those are the places that i like, sorri if i wrote to much, just like to give lots of info lol

Here's my favorite city, San Diego. It has great natural beauty and its climate is one of the best in the world. San Diego's downtown is vibrant and it is quickly becoming one of the most Vancouver-like cities in the US (the others being Seattle and San Fran).

Since no one else has15.gif Im gonna have to say Auckland! (Even if it is my home city) Its probobly the smallest city on the list (1.5million), so it feels very community like. Most people live in plain view of the CBD, and less than 10mins from the sea! The harbour is beutiful and the gulf is full of conservation islands.

A city that I hav not lived in though but still really like is Santiago. I sepnt about 10hrs in the city on a stopover and I thought it was amazing. Skifields are 40mins from the CBD, a river runs through it, and you can see snow topped mountains from everywhere. Apparantly its one of the most poluted cities in South America but I visited on a good day!
