I have many favorite cities, here is a list of my top 5, and some reasons why.

1. Pasadena, CA - Architecture, California Bungalows(Crafstman Style Architecture), Old Town
2. Santa Barbara, CA - Architecure(Spanish), Beaches, State Street-Downtown
3. Deadwood, SD - Old West Architecure, Very nicely restored town
4. Mariposa, CA - Like the small town feel, nice 1844 courthouse, in the mountains
5. Los Angeles, CA - My hometown, gotta love it 44.gif

Of course there are many other cities alot mentioned in this forum that i love just as much, but at the moment, this my top 5 list.  If i can find some pictures of these cities i will post them.

Now with that said, my dream is to go to both New York City, and Chicago, and of course all of the great cities in Europe.

I haven't been to too many cities, but of those that I have been to, these are my favorites:
San Francisco beautifully revitalized waterfront/the Embarcadero, Pier 39 (its arcade, Riptide, has In The Groove 2 17.gif), and the extremely hilly terrain offers unparralleled views of the surrounding area. Coming around any curve, you could suddenly come upon a view of downtown or the bay that you just want to capture forever. Also, SF is close, like 60 miles.
Washington, D.C.: Well layed-out, great subway system, free museums, and interesting history. Lots to do--almost too much!
Denver: Great bus system (lots of busses and low fares), and very beautiful area around the Capitol. I don't remember too much, it's been awhile (almost 10 years) since I've been there.

My vote goes to Wellington, New Zealand. I'm watching the sun rise over the city as I write this.

It's also a superb case study for a lot of urban design problems.

Ah, I wish I was. Used to live there until a few years ago. Now I'm stuck in Shanghai where you can only see the sunrise if you're very lucky

Ooh, Paris. I would not hastily call that the best city in the world - too many gypsies, squatters and beggars (plus crime) and it's not very attractive to visit any more.
Also pollution. Come on people, more votes for Budapest (not that that doesn't have crime, pollution and squatters43.gif)

Don't make me lautgh about crime in Paris,it's not worth than other cities.... 28.gif

And Paris got a wondefull architecture, and a great harmony of it.
There are a lot of very beautifull monument,so many things to see everywhere for people taking the time to open their eyes.
That's a great cultural town too, with many museums.
    A touch of creation too.
A good public transportation network. One of the best.
    And a modern city!!Yes it's true!
I can' t say it's the best city in the worl, but sure it's one of the best.

    I love it 36.gif

I like Dallas from an urban planning view.  I didnt really enjoy living there because its not a very good place to experience different cultures.  Downtown is nice and it will be even nicer within the next decade.  There are many public projects in the works.

I love New Orleans.  I grew up in Louisiana and NoLa has always been sorta like the promised land.  I love the buildings and the old world feel.  Its gonna take a lot to rebuild it.  I know I want to be involved in some way.  Hopefully I will graduate from school in time to part of the process.

And New York.  I live there now and everyday I notice something different that I love about the city.  My complaint about NY is the trash.  The city does a good job of cleaning up Manhattan but, Brooklyn where I live is littered with trash.  Anyway no matter what the borough, NYC is a marvel of engineering and architecture.

I've just been to Madrid and other than the fact that it smells disgusting everywhere, it's quite pretty, especially the old town and the area around Gran Via:

Also, one that I don't think anyone's mentioned, is Rotterdam. It is a wealth of modern architecture, especially the planned Rotterdam Tower and the Estasi Bridge:

    A very difficult question...
But I may have to say Berlin - the city has a very original style and flair everywhere, which (in my opinion) makes Berlin to one of the most beautiful and worth-to-see city's of the world.
But apart from that, I can say that Hamburg, Leipzig, Dresden and Vienna are some other favourites of mine - espacially Dresden. It's a very beautiful city, all the baroque looks so...consistent and good...To bad it was bombed...
