Cities XL and Cities XL 2011

First of all id like to say i am Greatly disappointed in Cities XL. No Trains, No Content Packs....Nothing. Its like they abandoned the game. I dont know if anyone else has this problem in-game but the traffic moves 1 lane at a time at red lights, and even though there is an ambient sounds volume control i cant hear anything! Which makes playing it kind of dull. I liked hearing the traffic and all the sounds associated with a city,(Like Simcity 4) I dont know about you guys. They promised so much and let everyone down. Why are they making a NEW game instead of working on the one already released... Wouldnt it be easier for them to revamp Cities XL and start releasing content packs for it (Like the ones originally shown in all the trailers, ie ski resort, beaches, trains, map and building packs) I just dont understand what MC is hoping to accomplish. Cities XL is overall a good game it just needs to be sorted out.

Let me know if any of you have that traffic problem. Or the Sound Problem. Thanks.  44.gif

Monte Cristo never had the resources to complete this game. They thought the Planet Offer would give them enough money and time to finish the game, and they were wrong.

The "new" game (if MC doesn't go bankrupt) will most likely be a more complete version of Cities XL. They need to release the tools and information on how to add buildings and modify the game.

As I understand CXL 2011 is not a completely "new" game. It's just post-planet offer CXL with a few loose ends tied up, like trade between your own cities in single player, and the bonus PO content added : medieval buildings, north american & asian building packs, and blueprints.

There are not likely to be many new features at all (if any). There may not even be trains in it.

And it will either be free or have a minimal cost for previous PO subscribers.

The beach GEM and the ski GEM are will be sold separately.

Actually, CitiesXL had content packs. Read more! The bus pack was the biggest one for solo mode. GEMs were supposed to be sold separately with a 35% discount for PO subscribers.

so, all monte cristo games have been flops... city life... 2008... xl

monte cristo's 2011 will be the same... the games are just to static and the new games require monthy subscriptions so it'll probably be expensive to play

too bad no one can give us our next gen simcity

our world is a simcity

Well Thank You for the information, But no one has answered my questions on the traffic and the ambient sounds, lol. If anyone could let me know about that i would greatly appreciate it. Also i dont think i will be buying 2011, Due to the fact that i spent good money on this game and was Seriously screwed over. Honestly i want my $ back.

There are ambient sounds in the game. The game, however, does not make use of them and they need to be un-PAK'ed and moved into the "Sounds" folder in order to be used.

I do not know. I never found it important enough to go through the process. I believe that GlobexCo mentioned this in Custom Content or the Exchange sub forums.

One can only hope that MC get's the investors they need tokeep this game running. It has a lot of potential and I hate to see it die. Yes, the game was incomplete, but it was still fun to play.

The traffic thing is a complete and utter. Joke. Instead of moving 15 lanes in a couple of minutes it takes several, then traffic gets jammed up because no one can move fast enough. It takes 20 minutes for someone to travel to work instead of 5 or less. Not cool but we're stuck with it.

While they were developing Cities XL I remember looking at the previews getting so excited, it really looked like a game that would keep my geekiness occupied for days on end, and it has, I think its great.

But here we are again playing the oh so familiar waiting game again, only this time instead of excitement about the end product its more like nervous anticipation that we're never gong to get the updates and CitiesXL will disappear with MC.

I really do hope they manage to sort out their financial issues, they've worked hard on making a good game.

Trains, subways, ambient sounds, more buildings (like English terraced houses and wider selection of property types already in the game), larger maps eith proper terraforming and we'd be pretty much there.

They can't be that far away with what they already.

Good luck in finding some money MC, i can lend you a fiver but thats about it!

I hope a bigger game company picks Cities XL up. (Please not EA or Ubisoft) No doubt it is a good franchise to build on; just a shame that MC put all its eggs in one basket.

I think it would be interesting if 2K's Firaxis studios takes on a City Sim.

Probably best if whoever the future new player in the city sim genre just started from scratch.

Maybe some day Civilization 6, 7 or 8 will have more of a city sim style of doing the cities.

Definatly not EA. Althrough they can create good stuff sometimes, they fail to fix their games and their websites properly. I'm on the Sims 3 forums as Walden95 and let me tell you that when their Website breaks, it breaks down badly. I've also learned first hand what their games can do to your computer; it fried my graphics card! 32.gif I now know better and have a limiter; that game required and unbelievable amount of FPS. 30.gif That's enough ranting for today.

Well MC gets a good buyer because I think they deserve a good one. MC has been a good and honest company overall. Not every company invests in something outside of the mainstream and cares so about the quality of their game while doing so. I do support them and hope for the best. 1.gif
