Looks very good, Mikeaut1! I especially like the hilly neighbourhoods on the previous page.. Looks very pretty! A lot better than my attempts at building on a slope.. Could that be why I keep flattening the land all the time? 9.gif Well done! And keep up the great work! 44.gif

    [:read:] Update 11

    Downtown Centerport

    Thanks for your nice comment, jarnomiedema!

    Victory Island has grown! The downtown area on Victory Island is known as Centerport. It is definitely a center of commerce, entertainment, and education. With a university, public zoo, and Cabel Bay's first major league baseball team, Centerport is taking Rank 1 for the most populated city in the republic!

    Transportation
    The Jim Dolan Expressway circles downtown Centerport. Then it hooks up with the Centerport Expressway again.

    <ahttp://img367.imageshack.us/img367/9029/centerportjun41511246770989gz.jpg align=baseline>

    The innerlying urban suburbs surround the downtown core. Downtown is a home to financial services, office suites, and entertainment areas. Centerport will grow outwards in the next couple years.

    Pictures of downtown Centerport at night. The highway that runs through this is the Jim Dolan Expressway.

    Here is a small downtown map showing the roads. The Jim Dolan circles the dowtown area, and ends up with the Centerport Expressway. Pinehurst Drive is also a major throughfare. In the top left corner is Victory University.

    VICTORY UNIVERSITY
    Victory University was created due to the overwhelming demand of education in thriving Centerport. It is the newest college in the area, and enrolls thousands. It is a beautiful, ivy league college.

    Central Campus is home to some buildings, the main buildings on the college grounds. They offer 30 stories worth of classrooms, educating thousands of students a day.

    align=baseline>

    align=baseline>

    The Central Campus is unique, with cobblestone trails and magnificent palm trees, creating a southing place for older teenagers to study. The avenue seen here is the University Pkwy, which handles teenager traffic in the morning and evening.

    align=baseline>

    Upper Campus has a community center, and also some dorms for sleep-away students. The dorms are beautiful, located in a nice neighborhood, and offer beautiful views of the grounds. Unique shrubs, tropical palms, and bushes, blanket the area.

    align=baseline>

    Outside of the Jim Dolan Expwy, the urban neighborhoods thrive. Mainly residential neighborhoods, these urban dwellings are currently doing well. But there has been a load of construction, as Centerport is building out and up.

    BUILDING OF THE DAY
    WEBTOWER PLAZA

    Webtower Plaza is located at the intersection of the Jim Dolan and Centerport Expressways. The area is a center for high-tech industry. Professional businessmen have offices here. It is a busy place during the afternoon, as wealthy business owners are hard at work.

    align=baseline>

    That was downtown, expect more from this area, and also some shots of the zoo, and stadium!

    Comments are appreciated!!!

    First comment.... haven't been that for a while.... You must have plopped all of those buildings.... Because they're huge and in the middle of no where!!!! That's ok I would have done the same to make it come out exactly as planned. You told me you'd have mass transit. This downtown is going to need more than you super cool freeway system to keep sims moving. . . . 19.gif
    You really go all out on your universities31.gif What Bat did you use for the 3 or 4 story dormroom buildings????
    Nice mid-dense sprawl outside of the downtown! Looks Outstanding!!!!

    Thanks you two for your great comments!

    Railrod - I am in the midst of trying to build up the area outside of the Jim Dolan Expressway. It is very hard. Those dorms are the Thanefirst Lofts by Dusktrooper!

    Mexicanboi - Thanks for being here to comment!

    Gurrgkud - Do you mean the transporation map. I just took a picture of the transportation map in Sc4, and used Irfanview to emboss it.

    Awesome updates, Mike. I really love your highways, and interchanges, they are really interesting. Also, I love the use of palm trees along your buisness plazas.

    Excellent work!

    49.gif Update 12

    Around Centerport

    Centerport has been growing and growing! Each year a new neighborhood is built, adding to the population and desirability of Centerport.

    logo.jpg

    THE CABEL BAY PALMS
    Centerport is home to Cabel Bay's first major league baseball team. Located 5 minutes from downtown, Palm Stadium is in the Zoo District, located over Centerport Expressway.

    The Cabel Bay Palms play here. They have an outstanding record, and are considered one of the best baseball teams in SimNation.

    The Stadium.

    The Palm Stadium is located in the Zoo District. The Centerport Zoo has just be constructed. Housing thousands of species and dozens of exhibits, the Centerport Zoo has gained popularity over the last few years.

    Here are some restaurants and commercial services along the Zoo District.

    centerportjan162111248462656lr.jpg

    AN ESTABLISHED CITY PARK

    Centerport has an official City Park! Located across the Centerport Expressway, Carrington Park is Centerport's official city park, with 20 acres of recreation. Baseball diamonds, a skate park, tennis courts, and pathways are just some of the offerings at Carrington Park. Grass pastures make it ideal for picnicking. So grab a shady palm tree to sit under, and relax!

    GOLF TOO?

    Yes, that's right! Adjacent to Carrington Park, Central Island Golf Club has just been built. With 9 outstanding holes, tennis courts, pools, and a lush clubhouse area, Central Island has been boasting the best golf since its creation. Located in proximity with the Centerport Expressway and downtown, the Central Island Golf Club is a relaxing place to be on a Sunday. Championship players hit the tees here as well. A driving range is located onsite too for practice.

    REGION VIEW

    Now, all that needs to be done on Victory Island is rounding off the mid-sized development and easing into suburban neighborhoods. Then add some ferry terminals, industrial sectors, and some beachfront!

    good change of setting for a stadium....  Your paths are great and you can plop trees on them....  The paths i use you can't.  Cool regional shot....  but i couldn't quite tell where this update fit into the region.... (Location-wise)

    dhoppeii: Thanks, glad you enjoyed the update.

    sirgeoj2: Thanks for your comment!

    railrod7: Ah, I understand. It is still quite small to see, but once the area grows outwards, it should be more obvious to spot.

    Well we have a major announcement to annouce. Cabel Bay just might be hosting the SimOlympics for 2005! Hopefully it will happen, but here are some plans regardless if Cabel Bay is chosen to host!

    I really like the look of Victory Beach's suburbs. Love the trees, they are nice detail along the houses and the small parks. One thing you have always been a master of was suburbs, and you keep on amazing me with them. Really liking the Target as well, I just love that model, one of the greates BATs ever created, imo. 2.gif
