    49.gif Update 24

    Palmgurl and Railrod's Houses!

I want to thank everyone for your continuing support through my major RLS period. LOL!

Thanks for the comments, I'm glad after all this time that this city journal still has some juice in it.

    PALMGURL/RAILROD HOUSES!

This update will entail a view of the two wealthiest citizens of the Galena Metro Area, Palmgurl and Tod Tilliman. They both are neighbors under a canopy of palm trees, on Norwood Hill in Norwood.

The place is so peaceful and quiet, and isolated from the rest of the busy world. Palmgurl has a huge house on a plateau on Norwood Hill looking over the blue turquoise water and a view of the city from her left pane view window. Her house is surrounded by beautiful palm trees that she calls Palmforest. And to top it off, her house is just steps away from her PRIVATE BEACH!

    Palms GALORE!

Tod Tilliman has a smaller home, but beautiful as well. Isolated in a palmforest, the house has 13 bedrooms and 4 full baths, along with a bocce/tennis court, and bowling alley in the basement. He also has a red sports car, said to have been worth $700,000!!! His yard faces the hill, and bay view is also included.

    Check it out!

Next update (2morrow for sure)... I will show you some more of what's to come next.

I am working north of Galena now in the town NORWOOD. Here is a sneak peak of Norwood so far.

    49.gif Update 25

    Norwood/Timber Pines Community

Replying to your comments and questions.

To ALL: I would like to thank you all for your comments. Here is update 25.

toxicpiano: It's a little late to have a house, but I will be glad to make one for you. Just give me some time. I have to do DaveJowsey's house as well.

Compromise: Yes, I have noticed that I do it when your sleeping. I know that you live in the UK, and I usually do my updates at night, on average 9PM Eastern Time US. So considering you're five or six hours ahead, your well fast asleep! 18.gif Sorry for that.

thatmonkeysim: Yes, I love the palms! 18.gif

jacqulina: Thanks Jaqulina. Glad you're still around.

railrod7: Thanks alot for your comments. My suburbs are all modded. It is called the URBAN HOUSING MOD located on the STEX. Highly recommended for better looking suburbs.

ChicAgo333: Yay! You're back on Simtropolis! Glad you like everything, hope to see you here soon!

kingofsimcity: Thanks for your comment! I'm glad you like Palmgurl's house. That building is from Vlakhaas, and it is called Mansion Miramir. I tried posting a link here but it isn't working correctly. It's making my whole update a link. Sorry.

    LOOKING AROUND NORWOOD

Norwood is a beautiful suburb of Galena, just a quick fifteen to twenty minutes north of downtown. It is a great spot to make a living, with convenient access to all major city highways, as well as tropical shoreline.

Norwood has grown in the hills of the Galena Mountains. There are some perfectly flat sections of the town, and very steep areas of Norwood.

Norwood Pond is located within Norwood. It is a beautiful pond surrounded by suburban sprawl. Beautiful trees surround the pond, and some people try and take a paddle out there.

Timber Pines Retirement Home is a private community built in the area. It is a wonderful place where many elderly Sims live out the rest of their life besides palm trees, pools, tennis courts, and morning bingo games. It is located quietly in Norwood as well.

    Norwood Pond

Norwood Pond is located near the Galena Mountains which are still under construction. The pond is beautiful, and adds to the desirability in the area. Construction started immediately here around Norwood Pond because of how breathaking the pond looks. On some humid mornings, mist grows on the surface of the blue water. Many people try and paddle out in canoes during the day to fish, or just relax on the open water. The water is so crystal clear, that people have no problem swimming in it. They go down to the bottom and pull out unique shells of all kinds, and maybe spot a turtle or frog doing a stroke.

<More on the pond will come tommorow. A picture has been deleted.>

    The Timber Pines Retirement Community

Timber Pines Retirement Community is Norwood's newest development. It is a retirement home for all people, from elderly to disabled. Located to the north of the town, the retirement home boasts a beautiful landscape, with plenty of flora and tropical lush. The community is gated and roped off, providing a private and safe feeling to the small town.

Timber Pines has tennis courts, a town pool, and a community center, where homeowners meetings are held, along with morning bingo games, lounges, a cafeteria, and a gym. The community center is a hangout for most elderly people.

The pool and tennis courts provide recreation for the more physically fit Sims in the community. There are monthly tennis tournaments, and Swim Aerobics are on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 4:30pm in the pool area.

You can really tell that you put quite a bit of work into your low res areas. Those road and street networks are nicely laid out. My only suggestion would be to space things out a bit more ~ maybe add some backyards and greenery to make the blocks larger. Things look a little tight to me in some of those areas. I remember when I first started playing SC a few years ago ~ As I would drive through my midwestern hometown I took note of how many houses on average each city block held and I found that 12-18 houses long by 4-8 houses wide was a good representation for low res areas.

Anyway its nice to see your large low res areas with no dilapidation due to long commute times. Nice job and I look forward to seeing more!

Nice suburban update.  I see you tried out the plopable water....  How did that work for you????  How long did it take you????  It looks good and fits.
Where did the parallel freeways come from (or where are going)????  Do you really have that much traffic for them both????

Wow, Mikeaut1.. The Cabel Bay Republic looks amazing.. I'm not usually a fan of tropical CJ's, but this is really nice! I especially like the way those suburbs swirl around the hillside and along the highway.. Those are some of my favorite shots.. Keep up the amazing work!

    49.gif Update 26

    Norwood Hills/Cliffside Shopping Center

Replying to your questions and comments.

davejowsey: Thanks for commenting. Your condo will be soon, promised. I use the superdemand mod for a year, then remove it, it is a technique that I have come up with that actually works for me.

pipishere: Thank you! I'm glad you like the suburbs!

MasterPlanMan: Thanks for your comment. The reason why my suburbs are so packed is because I am using the Urban Housing Mod, located on the STEX. It makes your suburbs look more packed, and it transforms the maxis suburban homes and adds a backyard and detached garage. I tend to play according to what the suburbs look like in my hometown (very dense), Long Island. Also, you must remember that this suburb is just 20 minutes north of Galena so things are still packed a bit.

railrod7: Thanks for commenting. The ploppable water works great in my city. It did take me a while to build the pond and terraform around it, but once you get into using it, it comes first hand to you. I reccommend it. As for the highways, the Highway 256 and I 684 (if you know your highways in Cabel Bay 2.gif) intertwine and then separate north of Norwood again. Not sure why, probably because the land mass is very narrow.

Allybabba: Thanks for your comment. I'm sure if you PM Palmgurl, she'll let you rent out a wing of her deluxe mansion. 18.gif.

jarnomiedema: Wow, thanks for your comment! Glad you like Cabel Bay. Hope you come to visit again soon.

dhoppeii: Thanks for commenting, and I'm glad you like the pond.

To ALL: Here is an update of Norwood. I thank everyone for your comments.

    Galena Metropolitan Area
    Update

Today we will be viewing some more sections of Galena's packed suburb, Norwood. We will be seeing some pictures of the pond, and the newest development, Mountainview Drive and Cliffside Shopping Center.

Mountainview Drive - Mountainview Drive swirls upwards into the Galena Mountains and up north past the Cliffside Shopping Center. Located on it is Aires Village, and the extreme-sloped neighborhoods which sit on the mountain.

Cliffside Shopping Center - The Cliffside Shopping Center is a new shopping center for the suburban community. It offers the chain Target, some flea markets, other shops, and some restaurants. It was built to offer suburban citizens to shop easily. The shopping center is on Cliffside Avenue in Norwood.

    View of the town.

    Norwood Central High School

Norwood Central High School is Norwood's only high school. It enrolls just over 1,300 students. 9th - 12th graders start a high school career here. The freshman class is required to stay in for lunch, as an open campus is priveleged to the sophmore through senior classes during lunch. Chinese restaurants and pizzarias are located just across the street from the school.

    Aires Village

Aires Village is located on Mountainview Drive in the Galena Mountains of Norwood. Small retail stores, some restaurants and cafes, and recreational buildings are located up there. The village has a complete view of Cabel Bay from a height of over 600 feet! It is a lovely place to go out on a date with a loved one, or just spend your time. Maples and Magnolias grow opposite the village. A proposed apartment complex may be erected across the street.

    Cliffside Shopping Center

The newest suburban shopping center for the town of Norwood. The center was named for its location right underneath the cliffs of the Galena Mountain. The Mountainview Bridge (Mountainview Dr.) runs above the center and into the next northern town.
