The skyline is soooo beautiful, you seem too have organised and zoned carefully so you've concentrated the skyscrapers, although that one building is runing it (the overly colourful one), which is a shame becuase by day it's a beautiful builidng, i wish they would re-render it.

oroen:  Yes indeed, it has turned out to be quite a strange vacation.  It seems I might be staying in Melanosia for longer than expected.  31.gif  Thanks for your continued support! 1.gif

Her.Little.Cookie:  Thankyou very much!! Don't call it quits! [:0] You have an awesome CJ as well!  One nice thing about this site is you can get ideas and inspiration from each others work and we all in a way feed off each other to better our creativity and gameplay.

    PhilsCafe:  Thanks!  19.gif

Shadow_Assassin:  Thankyou!  Glad you like it! 1.gif

Nardo69: Thankyou, I appreciate that!  The government sqare is a perfect example of the Melanosian's dedication to order and importance of their government system.

Mikeaut1:  Thankyou so much!  That is truley a great compliment to be held with some of the best CJ's out there..yours included!  1.gif

6underground:  Thankyou!  I know what you mean about the Xeon building, it is a cool building but at night it is a bit flashy, it almost looks like a lit up rubix cube or something, the windows are not very realistic looking when they are lit up.  I do like how bright it is though, perhaps one day the building will be renovated.  1.gif

I appreciate all your comments and suggestions and encourage anyone that stops by to let me know what they think.  And now on to the next update!

    UPDATE 16

    SirGeoJ's Travel Journal
    August 1

The next morning I was awoken by someone knocking on my door.  I got out of bed and put on a robe and opened the doors.  It was a man dressed in a suit with a tray of breakfast.  The smell of the steaming bacon, scrambled eggs, and hot pancakes with butter and syrup melting over them instantly made my stomach growl in anticipation.  I thanked the man and took the tray to a table in a corner in the room.
Sir, Doctor Grey wishes to inform you that he will meet you in the lobby on the first floor at nine o'clock, you will find several suits in the closet to choose from the man said as he was closing the doors.
    Suits? I asked.
Yes, you are to meet with the ElaGoda today and you must be dressed accordingly.  the man replied.
It was 7:30 as I ate my breakfast.  When I was finished I found a suit that fit me and went downstairs to the lobby and found Dr. Grey talking to someone behind a reception counter.
Ahh, SirGeo, Good morning, did you sleep well?  He asked.
Yes, it was probably the most comfortable bed I've been in for a while. I replied.
It should be, it is reserved for dignitaries.  Come, the car is waiting to take us to the airport.  He said as he put a hand on my shoulder and walked with me out the door.  We drove to the Marinaldo airport up to a security booth, the driver flashed an identification card and the officer let us pass.  We pulled up to an open hanger with a helicopter being pulled out of it as we arrived. The helicopter had an isignia on the side that I did not recognize.  Once the helicopter was fully towed out of the hanger, the pilot started up the engines as Dr. Grey, two other men and I boarded the helicopter.  I was seated at a window and buckled myself in.  I never flew in a helicopter before and this one was completley different than any ones I had seen in pictures.  It had very lavish interior and about a dozen seats with a bar on one side and all kinds of amenities.  The rotors began humming louder as the pilot throttled the engines.  There was a slight vibration as the force of the engines turned the rotor faster and faster.  Soon after I felt the craft lift and carry us into the sky.
We ascended higher and higher to probablly about three thousand feet.  After about a half an hour as we were flying over the beautiful country-side of Agural valley with it's many colorful squares below the landscape changed to a thickly wooded forrest.  The craft began descending and landed on a pad on top of a hill.  As the engines wound down to a low hum we disembarked and a man that was waiting on the landing pad escorted us to a car waiting nearby.  We the drove across a bridge to another hill and as soon as we rounded a corner I could see the temple from behind the tall trees.  It was an amazing sight.  The temple was nestled among the trees but had a majesty all it's own that seemed to eminate from the landscape.  It almost looked as if it were glowing gold as it shined in the sunlight.  We drove up to a gate and the gaurd let us pass.  The car parked and we all got out and walked up a long set of stairs toward a large set of double doors.  As we reached the top of the stairs the enourmous doors opend with an eerie silence for such large doors.  It was dark inside and I could not see very far into the building.  A voice called from inside the darkness......SirGeoJ, I have been waiting for you......
    (To be continued)

Here is a screenshot from the Geopedia with some information on Saphadim, it was released earlier in update
8, but I am placeing it in this update to give a refresher.

    UPDATE 17

    SirGeoJ's Travel Journal
    August 1

    (Continued)
The words I have been waiting for you echoed in my mind.
    Are you Andronea?  I asked.
    Yes.......
As soon as he said that a bright light shone from above the voice and illuminated the dark chamber, yet I still could not see much around me but through the bright light I could see a dark figure.  He spoke again.
You are here to become ruler of Melanosia.  Whether you believe it or not, you were brought here by a greater power to fufill your destiny. It is in your blood to carry this great honor and bring forth a new era to Melanosia.
I was numb to the words, I felt no suprise at what he had said.  I felt as if I already was ready for this task and completley accepted it.
I accept this great honor and give my life and soul to this great task. I replied.  What was I saying?  I could not believe those words came out of my mouth.  Was I under some sort of spell?  This felt right though.  I felt like I finally found my purpose in life.  I walked toward the bright light, as I drew near to the figure I could see more detail and color.  The man's robe was gold with ornate patterns shimmering in the light.  He drew back his hood.  His face was pure and innocent, he had a long white beard and white hair braided into a long tail.  On his head he wore a tiara with a beautiful, large diamond in the middle.  A servant walked up holding a box as I knelt on the ground.  He carefully reached in the box and pulled out a ring with the most beautiful Sapphire I had ever seen and slid it onto my finger.
This is the ring of the ruler of Melanosia.  It holds great powers which you will learn in time.  Here you will learn many things until you take your place as ruler of Melanosia.  The current ruler awaits your arrival in seven weeks.
With that, I was escorted into an simple room filled with ancient artifacts and books and was seated at a table.  A man entered holding a beautifully ornate wooden box.  He opened it and carefully pulled out an ancient book.
This book was written by the founders and contains the history and founding letters of this nation.  I am your tutor, Quinox.  I will teach you many things about Melanosia.
I learned all day and was treated to an enormous feast afterwards.  After eating I was shown to my room.  It was an ancient room with modern amenities, and a very comfortable bed.  This was to be home for the next several weeks and it truley felt like home.

A picture of the Temple with the Most High Place in detail inside the box.

I hope you all enjoyed this update, I know there has not been very many pictures of the region and cities in the last few updates but they are coming again soon!  Bye for now and take care!  1.gif

As Nardo said, your story gets more and more fantastic / unusual, which is not necessarily negative. It adds a nice theme to your CJ.

Wow, I love that temple and its sourrounding, looks really nice.

Just read through this entire journal- just fantastic.  You've got an impressive skyline (I think someone mentioned that in one of the first posts on page 5 or 6), and you do an equally good job of getting down right onto street level to take screenshots.  On top of that, your countryside is very good as well.  Your most-recent update at the temple was very, very well done- I really like the look of that temple amidst the trees and hills.

    Great work!

I work for the US Army. I go places, visit mean people, and kill them.

Winston Churchill is generall credited for saying something to the effect of: "People sleep soundly in their beds because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf". That about sums up my life, besides the "rough men" part.

Really slick updates! Have not been here in awhile.

    Region View ~ Impresive indeed!

    Waterfalls ~ outstanding.

The Ruins ~ really sweet, I like how its layed out and tucked away!

    Parks ~ very inviting!

The bridge to the Temple. Oh, Oh, You have a short 45% slope there on the left ~ going to have to close the bridge until it passes inspection! 2.gif

Entrance to Temple ~ A few minutes in the LE and you could easily retexture the tarmac connector tile to match the temple's driveway. No need for the merge, bushes and signs that the original road connector has. If you want I'll do it for you and pass it along. You'd have to send me the temple though.

I really continue to appreciate your work! Looking forward to more updates!

I had a bit of catching up to do on this journal since I left for vacation. But now that I have caught up, I must give you some accolades 29.gif

After reading through the story and looking at all the spectacular pictures of the region, I am having trouble deciding which I like best! Both the storyline and the development of your cities are completely original. The multi-day tour you took of the capital really illustrates how much time you put into the region......and it definitely shows! The Crystal Point district of the capital was my favorite.....not too many high-rises, and more pristine than the rest of the city.

I have to congratulate you on your fine job of presenting your CJ. Keep it up! I can't get enough of Melanosia!

Good luck on ruling the region! 44.gif

Hmmm... I believe this is my first time to this CJ.... Well, my first impressions were Wow... this is cool... The storyline is unusual, but it goes together very well. And don't worry about the unusualness (if that is even a word) of your CJ... I like it! 44.gif

    MESSAGE TO MY READERS

I want to thank all of you for your kind remarks.  I truely enjoy coming to this site.  It is a wonderful community full of generous, careing and creative people!  1.gif  I want to thank all of you who nominated me for best storyline in a CJ for the 2005 Trixie Awards.  I had no idea I could even come close to being nominated with all the other wonderful stories out there!  6.gif  I am sorry that I have not been able to update this CJ for a while.  As some of you may know I was out of the country in India on business, I did get to stop in Singapore for a day as well.  Got some good city pics there.  That is a beautiful city and the subject of a new upcoming CJ in the works right now.  As for Melanosia, I may add some more updates in the near future (RL permitting) 2.gif, seeing as how many of you would like to see some more updates.  1.gif  I am glad that I at least have time now to get on here again once in a while and browse my favorite CJ's and see all the new wonderful CJ's coming out, and comment again to all of you creative people!  On that note, I shall get back to my own creativity and try a put a few more little 'sprinkles on the cake'!  35.gif40.gif1.gif
