Freight Rail Stations?

Hi,

It seems I'm loaded with passenger rail stations but when it comes to freight rail stations I've only got the Maxis original game freight station so I'm looking for some really nice "city" (not rural) freight stations to add to my cities.

I've searched the stex and found plenty of rural stations but not finding any really nice (smaller, like 2x2 or 3x5) freight stations.  Could anybody recommend some freight stations that they are using in their own cities that look like they belong in a typical medium sized city please?

Thanks

Edit Also, if anybody knows of a "build your own" freight rail station for a city that would be great. to know where to download it from.  What I mean by build your own, is like the airports where we can add the indiividual lots to the overall freight station so that multiple lots put together makes the whole station yard would be great if there is such a plugin(s).

When I build a Freight Rail System or even a normal High Road System for industries, where do I have to direct them? I mean, where industries deliver their products? Commercial areas? Ports, airports? And if there is no port or airport?

I've always thought they need only to be delivered to the edge of the map, which is to say that they are being delivered to a neighboring tile city , regardless if you have developed the neighbor tile city or not, they still deliver to that area and that is what makes the game think that the stuff is being delivered and raises demand cap if I'm not mistaken.

Seems really strange that with a community that hollers so loudly about Transportation in their CB games (i.e. Cities XL lack thereof) that there are so few of them that people have created for SC4. Don't get me wrong, the ones that are available make me very appreciative that their there, but it just seems really strange to me that a community that loves their transportation so much, hasn't created a lot of freight stations. I'd create one myself but I don't have the imagination to come up with one nor the talent to replicate real buildings.

If you still need some railyards, you should check out the creations of North country dude. He's made a modular set (LINK), and some smaller (but still rather large) railyards (LINK)

Thanks for the links Biriali, it's only unfortunate that some of the listed dependencies are no longer available in the STEX for some reason. I'm always looking for more as I dislike seeing the same stations used over and over again in one or more of my cities since rail station like police stations, fire stations etc are specialty lots to me and shouldn't be duplicated exactly with the same buildings multiple times in a city.

    Much appreciated.

If some of the dependencies are no longer available here at ST, then you should try have look at this list (LINK). Here you can find most, if not all, dependencies and their links.

Some of the industrial BATs created by jestarr are also freight stations, and he has made the Railway Express Agency and the Rayden Transfer.  The latter is a little bigger, but yeah, really large freight stations are mainly done by North Country Dude, and those cogeo BATs are great.  I think a lot of members also like to create their own railyards in the game, using modular lots.  Here again, NCD stuff is used quite a bit, I believe. But you can mix and match, and even fire up the Lot Editor and make one exactly to your specifications.  A lot of existing BATs can be used as props with an invisible building, or just plop them over the tiny Maxis Freight Station and enlarge the lot.  Take a look at the existing lots and it will give you some ideas for different ones.  (In case you can't tell, I think lotting is fun.  9.gif )  If you have the Prop Pak of NCD's you should have everything else you need to make a freight station.  For the jestarr industrials, if that is what you want, do a power search of the LEX for his industrials and he mentions it in the descriptions.
