Great start! I very much like the development on Fox Islands. It looks promising for the rest of the regions you've chosen/made.

tostartpressanykey--Thank you. I hope you continue to enjoy it.

psander5--Thank you. Fox Islands will be the subject of my first few updates.

k50dude--Too which islands are you referring? The ones on the map are relatively large, but the SC4 regions are small in comparison to most inhabited islands.

_marsh_--Thank you. I always feel an introduction to the landscape is a good place to start, but I like to get to the cities ASAP

    Port Royal (Fox Islands)

Okay, before the photos just a couple of notes.

    1. This city is not complete. In fact, I have done work on this city since these screens, but I doubt any city is ever "complete".
    2. I know there are zots in one of the pictures. Please excuse this gaffe.
    3. This is my first attempt at building a sprawling (low density) city. Certain terrain issues arose as a result.
    4. Please let me know what you think of the overlay on these images. This is my first eyecandy journal so I need help there.

    Now onto the pictures...

O: I'm loving those region views! You've already gotten nice development going on one of those islands. Nice work crushed!

Just a bit of advice, try leveling out the terrain with road tiles first before developing, your neighborhoods will look better. 9.gif

simfreak90--Thank you. Keep working with those boardwalks. My first attempts were pretty ugly too.

    iGod--Thank you.

k50dude--Thanks. The clubhouse can be found on sc4devotion. It is part of the FLOG set. This is a link to the lot (warning the FLOG set has quite a few dependencies).

Archean--Thanks for the advice. I think part of my problem is I was zoning on land that was too steep to look good anyway.

    Leech10--Thank you.

mightygoose--Thanks, but I think you mean multiple regions.

    Confession Time

I am a perfectionist. I am also impatient. After looking at the old Fox Islands region I was dissatisfied with it. Too many huge foundations and ugly slope for my taste. I considered redoing the entire region on the same terrain, but that would have taken too long in my opinion. So I scrapped the region.

    Fox Naval Station

Using SC4Terraformer and blade2k5's Element of treachery map I redesigned the Fox Islands. The new map is flatter, more condusive to city building and better planned. Of course this means everything you saw last time was destroyed, but I think it is for the better. Here is the new region.

Someone has a stealth Cruiser. Could do some serious damage with that thing at night.

Again the island looks magnificent at region view! The naval harbor gives it the 'hmph'. 9.gif

CHR-- Thank you. The port is made using the SNM Waterfront Series. It can be found at SC4 Devotion.

    Port Royal

mithrik-- Thanks. I actually do not have a mod for 2x1 and 1x1 middle class houses. Maxis actually made a few themselves.

    Simtropolis Forums

ComputerGuy890100--Thanks. It's nice to hear you think it is realistic.

Leech 10--Thanks. Maybe you saw it on the STEX.

Archean--Well, technically it's a stealth destroyer. I'm glad you like the region.

Schulmanator--Thank you. Eventually, I will get all of the regions.

    Benedict --Thank you.

    Programming Note

There will be no update next Monday (March 15). Normal updates will resume on Monday, March 22.

    Kings Harbor

Kings Harbor is still a work in progress. In these photos the city supports a population of 35000, 12750 adjusted*. I apologize for having zots, zones, and grids on in the overview.

*adjusted population is what the population would likely be if SC4 didn't have 12 sims to a house. It is SC4 population/2.75.

Beautiful stuff! Really great beginning and the pics look really good

And you've definitely got the ability to build good shipyards, something I lack as I've found out recently 4.gif

I love the railyard you used. Great textures for the rails.

And that sidewalk mod. Where'd you get that? Those are some unique textures.

CTMandR--Thank you! In that last update there were no waterfront homes, but as you will see that has changed.

Paubloergonci--Thank you! I appreciate your feedback.

CHR--Thank you for your feedback. Just a couple of notes. 1) The Peg plazas are to stimulate CO$$$ growth (for some reason they won't grow otherwise). 2) The lighthouse has had some treeing done to minimize the appearance of that different grass texture.

    Simtropolis Forums

crazychickensc12--Thank you! There is plenty more to come.

Benedict--Thank you! The angled houses are some of personal favorites as well.

Cleaner475--Thank you! Shipyards take time to learn to build and perfect. Keep at it.

Archean--Thank you! I believe that sidewalk mod is by mightygoose. I got it so long ago I forgot where I got it.

Pavel_Ilich--Thank you! More is coming. Including more islands.

    Kings Harbor 2.0

I have continued to work on Kings Harbor. The current population is approximately 72000 (26250 adjusted). Some of the areas I will show in this update focus on areas that were not highlighted last time. But let's start with a couple of overviews.

Wow, the region view looks really nice! And there's still so much space for development!

And the beaches look still pretty wild and peaceful in the North Peninsula... Would be a nice place to live in 19.gif

Ooh I like Fox Islands. The region view looks great. I especially like the way the development is broken up by the hilly terrain. The Kings Harbour waterfront development is nice too! Going back a few updates to your now defunct version of Fox Islands, I really like that image of the marina and waterfront with the little pier leading to that sandy islet (the one titled Port Royal Marina). It's a wonderful picture. Perhaps you could re-create it somewhere else on the island? 9.gif

k50dude--Absolutely, as long as you are registered on the SC4D LEX this link should work.

    Daan300--Thank you.

Forum Simbourgeois--I don't intend to completely pack that island with development, but yes there is still plenty to do in that region. I wouldn't mind living in North Peninsula either.

psander5--Thanks. I break the development on those hills for a couple of reasons, realism and appearance. And the sandy little islet was a bit of an experiment so you can expect to see that somewhere down the line 2.gif

Apology I have been a little delinquent with updates recently due to RL. College is winding down (time-wise at least) so I should soon be back on schedule. New updates should be posted each Monday around 8:00 PM CDT. I will let you know if this changes.

Wow, LOTS are happening in Iris these days. 9.gif Application into the Alliance, new supersonic jets and a manned mission to Mars!

And that Airport layout looks very well done as well, looks like this is definitely a CJ to watch. (especially after the fact that Iris is going to be an observer for sure 2.gif )

    k50dude--Thank you.

kingdiz_55--Actually, I left that runway like that because it is based off of the reef runway at Honolulu International (HNL). In fact, this entire airport is based off of Honolulu International. Besides I think it looks okay in SC4 without an additional taxiway exit. Thanks for the suggestion though.

    Simtropolis Forum

ComputerGuy890100--Thanks. I gave them a link to the journal (seems more efficient).

Archean--Thank you. Your journal actually inspired the design of that newspaper. Also, the manned mission is just speculation (or is it?). I'll list this as AFDES Observer when I am actually sure that's official.

    jacqulina--Thank you.

mightygoose--Thanks. It's nice to hear you appreciate the newspaper.

    penguin007--Thank you.

    Aquarius International Airport (Aquarius)

A couple of notes before the update.

    1) I'll eventually replace those Simtropolis Headings with a nice banner.

    2) The airport diagram you saw last time was just a plan. The actual airport deviates from that plan slightly.

    3) The areas near the airport have not been made as it took me all week to build the airport. (It does practically cover 1.5 large tiles).

    4) This airport is based heavily off of Honolulu International Airport.

    5) I have no intentions of posting a "diagonal runway tutorial" at this time. I may if there is enough demand.
