Trying to obscure props?

Hey all, I am trying to develop a better seawall system, using fake water, (ala canals) I was hoping to make some faux diagonal briges as well. But I ran into this problem using an overhanging prop. The problem is pretty evident.

Anyone have ideas? can I obscure those flower beds somehow with LODs?

I know I could just not have the diagonal puzzle piece so near the road, but that deafeats my hopes of simulating diagonal bridges.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

That's a graphical glitch with the diagonal roads & canal set from the looks

of it,i don't think it can be fixed.

You could try a different canal set & see if you get the same.

Edit-If you are the creator of the canal set then you could edit the lods

like Jasoncw Mentioned below & it might help offset it.

Also No need to try another canal set if you are the creator.2.gif

I've done this before and never come across the problem.  That said, I'm not sure if it's a sidewalk mod or something.  It's not the exact same, since I am using sea walls rather than canals...

I don't know of a way to hide roadside props at a particular place. There is, however, a mod made by Pegasus which disables these props altogether, the PEG MTP No Roadway Junk Mod. (enter that name in the STEX search mask, and you should find it immediately - I cannot link to it ATM because the STEX still doesn't work with Opera.)

    ^^

I believe this is apple to oranges kind of comparison. In other words things you simply shouldn't compare cause they are entirelly different in terms how they are build and how they are working in game.

To the original post... I'm afraid that nothing could be done about this problem. You can fake things only so far... Game still thinks that there is regular flat land around your road, so it places props on it. Switch on Grid and you'll right away see why...

You can totally obscure the props with LODs! 4.gif

Just make the LODs of the canals so that they are above the LODs of the props, and your canal image will be layered on top of the props, thus covering them. 4.gif

But you might not be able to cover them up perfectly. It depends on exactly where the props are and where your canal is. It looks like you won't be able to mask the shadows being cast by the props, and you might even miss a few pixels of the props themselves. That mod is probably the best solution.

If you're making new canals, it would be cool if the water surface was closer to the ground level. In real life, the water is usually only a few feet lower than the seawall (in my experiences anyway), but in all of the SimCity canal systems, there is an enormous drop to the water.
