You should try to look at if from the point how could it be built.

Right now the spans of glass are of absolutely inCREDIBLE size. Also internal structure of the station which is all see through isn't really functional.

Here's a little project I'm working on, I still have to model the base, but I have the main tower finished. What could be changed to make it more pleasing?

Also, how can I disable the environment map from showing in the render?

Your tower has a very interesting shape. It' s a good start and it is definitely worth to keep tweaking it to perfection. At a second glance I was a bit confused about the twist of the building. Does it really twist around a central axis all the way up from bottom to top? Are the roof and the (hypothetical) ground plate of exactly the same size? And if yes, do they have exactly the same X and Y coordinates? If yes, then it's perhaps my eyes to blame. Nevermind.

And lastly I am not so sure about the color of the windows. Maybe the Smurf blue is a bit out of touch with real world scyscrapers.

    Keep up the good work.

Yes, the top and bottom are the exact same measurements. 2.gif

I changed the glass texture of the building to a darker, and more realistic shade of blue.

What else would suit this building before I start on nightlighting?

Very nice tower! to disable the environment map from showing in the render go to the oblect propriety and uncheck the "visible to camera" option (tip: select object, right clik, choose the propriety object option, etc...)44.gif

IMO, maybe the roof has too much reflexion!

Assuming you're using 3DSMax?...in which case I can't help much with reflections and such.  However it does not look terrible from here, though there are some things I think could be improved.  Overall the building looks a bit like "plastic"...unless you have yet to actually texture those white areas and such.  As it is now your steel and other structural elements other than glass imo could use some darkening and dirtying.  Also I would make the letters not come out of the building so much, and try to integrate them into the design better, rather than them just being "there" (especially towards the bottom).  And are those stair cases (those white 'tounges' coming from the second or third floor of the building)?  If so they need railings etc. and perhaps add one or two handicaped ramps or an elevator entrance.  Overall it is not so bad, but that's just my two cents on how it could be better. 2.gif

    Keep calm and take photographs.
