ATeX Tubes Addon

That is some effort you put into this. But there are two things I thing might improve matters. The transparency of the tubed ELR looks odd; I think a better way has been shown by a Japanese model I saw here:

The second thing is the station itself: it seems too short to accomodate trains other than in very sparsley populated towns. In your video you use what looks like a TGV and even with a few cars the station cannot accomodate the entire train.

Still, it looks like a great upgrade to the transport network.

    I've also changed the texture. I know that they need to be transparent, but it can't look like clear glass either. There needs to be a sense of mystery about the rails. Also, that station I made is only a small one. GlobexCo and I are working on more.

    Keep up the great work. I've had the ATEX in my cities for a while just for looks (with a 1x1 airport next to each station to mimic some use) but to actually have it all transit enabled would be spectacular!

    Could you simply add an extention to the track? Something that overhangs, would that work?

    Its hard to explain, like when you get a badly designed bat and the edge of the building is in the middle of the road?

    I've tried that, the problem is the tubing, it's transparency is messing up the look of the rails inside. It's an odd problem.

    hmmm. transitions will get complicated because of the tubing. you might possibly have to make it double decker ( futher complicating the trasitions, but eliminating the problem of having large monorail intersections

    it looks good so far,

    i can't wait to download it,

    it still needs a bit more work,

    perhaps a variety of stations,

    ATeX-elevated rail/rail/subway/monerail.

    and maybe a grand station as a reward (a skyscraper as one would be cool).

    I have an nVidia 8600GT, 4GB RAM and an AMD 64 Athlon X2 3GHz; but I want to build a new one that has ATI Radeon HD 5970 Dual SLI, 12GB RAM and Athlon II X4 965 BE. I also use Game Booster to turn off unnecessary processes.

    An update will appear soon when more work is done. 4.gif 

    This is the list of what I have to do:

    • Make NAM monorail models
    • Finish tube texture
    • Migrate it to HSRP
    • Make SimMars version
    • Make readme
    • Upload
    • Start on version 2
    Version 2 will have a lot more features, but since I like surprising people, you'll just have to wait. ATM v1 is just at ~80% finished. I still have to tweak a lot of stuff and change textures.

    Thanks all, I'm going to rerelease the stations before the releasing of the HSR-ATEX mod due to the change in height and width. I'll post more pictures soon when I have more work done! 3.gif

    A quick view of the project:

    Replace orthogonal pieces

    Replace diagonal pieces

    Replace other pieces

    Change LText to show "ATEX" instead of "HSR" 

    Add tubes via t21 (to allow monorail to be seen)

    Create train

    Create train skin

    Start on GHSR

    Review mod and open for beta testing

    Bugfixes

    Create installer

    Create FAQ

    Done.

    Then for ver. 2...

    So I have one (or two...) big question(s):

    • How can I add the tube by t21? Where are is the kPropertiesID of each piece?
    • How can I make the FSH skin for the train? Is it possible to make the texture of the finished train in 3ds max, export textures together as a skin and convert to FSH?
    I have a lot to do :S

    @ bigthing: Yup, it'll be the same as HSRP, but I'm taking a break from modding it (i have loads of tests to study for...)

    I'll post more if I update the ATEX tubes. At the moment I'm adding the tubes via t21 (like how the hsr supports are added).
