Merry Christmas everyone. I'll just take a cup of mulled wine for now. I'm off to St. Andrew's for a round of (virtual) golf, but I'll be back for dinner.

No matter where you go, there you are!

djrules5454_simtropolisedition:  Long time, no see.  We went to new premises to speed things up around here.  The automatic service system is newer, shinier, and faster so we are sorry if you preceive any tardieness on our part.  Pancakes?  I am sure these were served with alacrity.  For a lover of griddle cakes, you should have a some of our palatschenka, the best filled crepes around.

mrdazza_460:  I believe the service will start at 1600.  There are lots of snacks around to keep you amused until then.  You should try these smoked salmon wellingtons with some sour cream and dill.  Look around for other finger food.  Have a glass of bubbly on the house.

My pal the Nerd is whirling around like a dervish and trying to apologise for being a poor host.  Silly boy, you do just fine, so calm yourself.  Try the champagne, it is the usual Veuve Cliquot.

Livin in Sim:  Thank you, and congratulations to you.  As a former moderator myself, I want to thank you for the attention you have given us during the change over.  Where did you attend midnight Mass?  I take it there was some excitement in Rome.

Hi, Jacky, and mutual congratulations to us.  Enjoy yourself, we deserve it.  We seem to have the only surviving watering holes, and we thanks all our good customers and friends.

Vigilante1987a:  Ok, have a good game.  No snow at St. Andrew's?  We'll see you later.  Keep warm.

What a great spread, and the spice beer is intoxicating!

    God save the Queen!

    God bless President Obama!

God watch over the Canadian Forces!

The music is soothing. I think I will remain and listen for a while.

    Merry Christmas everyone!

Well, I am glad you all came to my dinner.  As a bonus, if you have any room left, there is some figgy pudding and my favorite port.  There is also spiced coffee (with cardamomum, not the spice of life).  I can't have any of you going home from here with the spice brush in your eyes.

Longevity to all, and to all, a good night.

Mmmm, nom, nom, nom, a fine feast!  The roast goose is délicieux, or délicieuse, should I say, if she wasn't a gander?  3.gif

As for the change over help, it was my pleasure.  I live in the Black Hills of South Dakota, so I only heard about the strange lady with the startling desire to tackle the Pope.  The local Lutheran Church offers a midnight service as well.  It was lovely, but contained no such theatrics.  I'm not a member of that church, but I do enjoy the midnight aspect of Christmas Eve, and generally visit there.

Settles back with a spiced coffee.

Welcome to our New Year's Eve party.  Get comfortable, find a drink and a plate of goodies.  This is a casual affair, so kick off your shoes, and have a good time.  A buffet will be served at midnight.  There will be a levee for those who last all night or want to return in the morning.

    Kicks off shoes

Hmm, are the plants supposed to look that death, or is it just me?

I'll order a Dutch New Year's treat: Oliebol. Literaly translated as oil balls, also know as Dutch dognut, without a hole. I agree with that, a donut tasts something like a oliebol, though an oliebol isn't covered in anything. And I'd like a Fanta to drink.

Edit: Hey, they changed our hats! I guess all coating fell of the Christmas one after I've taken off my shoes.

    Puts shoes back on

And before I forget: Have a ver happy New Year!

    Regards,

    Korot

I'm not too late for the Levee, am I?  It said getting dressed was optional, but I am.  BTW, I'm not hung over, I was working last night, so this is perfect timing once again.  Oh, sorry, am I talking too loud?  Whispers. Happy New Year, everybody!

What a swell party!  Glad everyone enjoyed it, and the following levee.

When I was young, "dress optional" meant suit or blazer with greys.  Oh well...

Get ready folks!  We are planning a formal dinner-dance on Valentines day.  The theme will be "Red and Black" and dress will be format (Tux for gentlemen and long, formal dress for ladies).

Everyone please remember that this is a virtual site.  Each of you should use your imagination to describe what you and your date are wearing.  I will be wearing my regular black tux with red accessories (cummerbund, tie, and studs).  Feel free to be creative, but try to stay inside formal dinner-dance norms.

Last one of these I was at was over 20 years ago at the Art Gallery of Ontario on behalf of The Canadian Opera Company.  It was a swell affair, as this can be.  So prepare to enjoy a nice evening of dining and dancing.

And, I suppose, you might not.  How about a Greek Salad or (without the lettuce) a horiatiki (village salad)?  It really depends on whether your are into anchovies or not, I guess.

I seem to have recovered from the annual debauch quite well, but Andy seems to have put his left front foot in a hole and wrenched his shoulder.  It is/was sore enough to make him cry.  Taking him to the vet later today.  We have rather a lot of snow and the forecast is not the greatest, so it may take a while to get there.
