Mrs. NMUSpidey whipped up a French-Canadian recipe, tourtiere.  It's savory, it's full of meat and potatoes, and it's served in a yummy crust.  I loved it at first bite.

Sounds delicious

I'm going to follow doctor's orders for sure.

would really recommend it as I've had a dodgy back the last 20 years and maybe if I'd taken a bit more notice of the doctor all those years ago when I first went to see him after coming off a horse and actually done what he was recommending at the time things would probably be a lot better these days.

I always feel a little bad for doctors and nurses, the doctor was sure I wasn't going to take his advice until I told him that I had already taken the week off.  So long as I keep resting I think I'll be able to return to 100% next Wednesday like he predicted.  Also felt bad for the nurse who had to give me a shot in my patootie.  No one should ever have to get an eyeful of my patootie, but I suppose she was being paid for it and that ought to have taken some of the sting out of it.  It didn't for me, though, that shot burned for the next couple of hours.

I'm marginally more mobile today, which is good because I have to return to work in a limited capacity tomorrow, but I am all ready for CURRY SUNDAY!  For tonight's curry, we'll go with a classic brown Japanese curry, served over Japanese sticky rice with pork, potatoes, and onions in the curry.  Green tea is offered to cleanse your palate, and we'll have some onsen manjuu set out for dessert for those who are interested.  BON APPETIT!

Well, I made my dubious return to work last week and hobbled about getting my work done each day.  I visited my kids' elementary school twice to sit in agony through their Xmas singing programs (the singing was enjoyable, the seats were not).  The first day was marred by a quartet of rude people behind me who talked continuously at full volume the ENTIRE TIME, moving in and out and punching the back of my head each time and apologizing sarcastically as though it were my fault for being in their way.  Still, we enjoyed the performance and our daughter did  a good job.  The second visit was far better, I secured good seats and we were able to see our son perform, including a small group performance he won in a tryout.  No rudeness behind us on this in, quite the opposite in fact, they were all very nice.

So, my back pain in finally waning (now it almost feels like your garden variety sore back) and with the Xmas holiday upon us I am looking at days and days of lying down and recuperating without having to worry about money and returning to an unhappy workplace.  This brings us to CURRY SUNDAY!  For tonight's curry, let's have a yellow seafood curry in the Thai style.  We'll serve a peppered rice soup like my favorite Thai restaurant in my hometown first, and then bring the curry out served over jasmine rice.  Enjoy!

Perfect timing I've been dashing about organizing the "Moose Factory Christmas Day Party" so could do with a sit down have a rest and something to eat and the soup and curry sounds great.

Its good to hear your back is starting to improve

I've got the perfect spot for you

Back to party plans .... We are going to be serving all the regular Xmas day food in the "Moose Factory" the front courtyard is going to be serving hot soup and other tasty snacks from the outdoor kitchen and we are just setting up the beer kegs

Moose5.jpg.9a7164aa53780438b390b2535f2c8b8e.jpg

The barn in the yard at the back of the "Moose Factory" is being set up with stable theme .... couldn't get any camels .... probably just as well given the weather, so we have have had to settle for Doris the cow who I'm assured is very tame, the Christmas tree has presents for everyone who's likely to turn up over the next few days .... more gifts in the sleigh if needed

Half an hour to go before its Christmas Day here so time to say good night, but before I do

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year everyone

Looking forward to the party! Time to get into party mode.

I love the Christmas lights at the top of the page.  For some reason, I get such enjoyment out of breaking them. *:P

Everyone is welcome this Xmas Eve (or Xmas day, depending on where you are on the globe)!  We have prepared a traditional turkey dinner spread for everyone to enjoy: Turkey, of course (but if you want a drumstick you're going to have to fight my daughter for one), mashed potatoes, broccoli cheese casserole, stuffing, dinner roles, gravy, and my beloved Granny's noodles (egg noodles mixed with cream of mushroom and cream of celery soups and butter, oh so much butter).  Pumpkin and pecan pies are available for dessert if you were able to save some room.

The place looks great!  Too bad about the camels, but who doesn't love Doris?  Merry Xmas everyone!  Happy Holidays as well, for you those of you who swing that way!

Always jasoncw. * Having one of his bats is like having a Bentley in the garage. A true luxury car. Having a mattb325 bat is more like a Lexus...still considered by some to be a luxury car, but a Lexus will never be a Bentley. (No offense to Lexus owners)...

Matt, I tend to look at your BAT's like a Bentley as well.

Well, it's the day after Christmas here and I managed to make it through yesterday without drinking to much and showing my back side. LOL*:P  We had a wonderful time with family, great food and wonderful conversation.  Rather smaller gathering this year which made it more personable.

I truly hope everyone enjoyed the holiday and made wonderful memories.  I know I did.

Cheers to one and all!*

Well said. Also there are good ones from the past, like SimGoober who would be like Jag from the 60's in mint condition.

And atleast you're Lexus, I think my stuff is like having Lada Samara.

Since there are no Ladas here in the US and the only one I can think of was that one on Top Gear that Lotus helped tune (oh, and that little Jeep-looking thing James May drove around an abandoned military base which was totally charming, just not as much as a CJ-7) they seem pretty exotic!  Also, it's nice to see a few more faces in here, and you're all welcome to stay as long as you like.

Welp, we've run out of Xmas dinner leftovers, so Mrs. NMUSpidey prepared some stuffed bell peppers.  Baked to perfection and covered in mozzarella cheese, they are quite delicious (and also a favorite of my dearly beloved Granny).

It's the LAST CURRY SUNDAY OF THE YEAR!  We'll go back to basics with this one: my favorite, Japanese brown curry using S&B Golden Curry roux.  We'll add some pork, onions, mushrooms, and potatoes and serve it over basmati rice.  A good way to close out 2019.  Hope everyone has had a good one!

Curry sounds good tonight, but then again, so does homemade sloppy joes.

Watching the 49ers-Seattle game here as well.  My Chiefs won their game today and with a New England loss we have home field and a bi week.  GOOOOOOO Chiiiieeeeeffffffssssss!

Basically chili with no beans, on a bun. Called a loose meat or chopped meat sandwich sometimes. It's called Sloppy because you get more on you than in you.

The new year is upon us!  For our eastern hemisphere friends, you're already there.  Those of us in the western hemisphere, we've still got a few hours.  I miss being in the eastern hemisphere.  It was like living in the future.  Being in Japan really enhanced the feeling.  ANYways.

Here's some champagne!  I hope you appreciate it.  I don't have a corkscrew so I had to use a pair of pliers to yank the top off, so you guys had BETTER enjoy it.  Me, though, I'll be over here at the bar with my Sapporo Black Labels.  HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Happy new year, everyone.

If you still have left over meat in the fridge from Christmas day lunch, today is probably the last day you can eat it without becoming horribly ill, so I can offer two things with that left over meat which are good for hangovers....either a bubble and squeak or, for those who like it a bit hotter, a mei goreng....both quick and easy and guaranteed to soak up excesses from the last few days....mmmmm :dead:
