I'm good with the Klingons, the Ferengi, the Cardassians, the Bolians look just fine, the Betazoids are like us only with big ol' dilated pupils, and the Trill are maybe my favorite (I like the spots).  But what is it with some Star Trek aliens having multiple sets of nostrils?  They gross me out somehow, they're hard to look at, and of course tonight's first episode of Voyager features multiple-nostril-having, hard-to-look-at aliens.  Freaks me out, man.

Tonight, we'll have a pig roast.  Let's add potato salad, pasta salad, Caesar salad, salad salad, and a veggie tray with ranch to dip them in.  We'll prepare some baked beans for people who like them (not me), and we'll have french fries because you can simply not have too many potato-based foods in your lineup.  How bout some corn on the cob, too?  And pie!  Apple, cherry, blueberry!  Too much?  I don't know.  Maybe we'll stop at ice cream.

Baked Beans are yummy! Especially if they have a smokey flavor.  My mouth is watering already.

It's-a CURRY SUNDAY-A!  For today's curry, let's go with beans: BEAN CURRY!  Kidney beans, lentils, shiitake mushrooms, potatoes, and yellow onions in a mild curry sauce, served over ye-olde-tried-and-true purple-beans-and-grain Japanese sticky rice or alongside naan.  Because who doesn't love beans?  (I love beans, just not baked ones hahahah, so I'm glad to see that you were all ready and willing to eat that which we set out).

Actually, I hate to say it, but I'm not real big on beans.  I don't dislike them, but most of the time I could take them or leave them.

Hey, it's CURRY SUNDAY!  Today we're going to whip up some curry fried rice: Japanese sticky rice (of course), scrambled egg, peas, carrots, shredded chicken, baby corn, water chestnuts, , flavored with curry, turmeric, and cumin, with a hint of nutmeg.  Let's serve it alongside some wanton soup, egg rolls, and those deep fried little bows with cream cheese and crab meat inside.  Wow.  This became rather Chinese, didn't it?

Well I was going to have a meatball part sub for dinner, but it looks like I'll be having Chinese instead.

Chinese food is delicious!  Why don't we have some bell peppers and beef tonight to continue this impromptu Chinese food week?  We'll also set out the obligatory egg rolls, wanton soup, and those deep fried little bows full of cream cheese and crab meat whose name I can never remember.  Let's complete our spread with some mabodofu (which I have no idea what it's called in English), subuta (which I think is sweet and sour pork in English, but I'm not really sure), and, oh, a choice of white rice or traditional fried rice.  There's extra soy sauce and Chinese-style hot sauce available to season the offerings to your taste.  Enjoy!

WELCOME TO CURRY SUNDAY!  You know, it's been a while since we've had Thai green curry, so we'll go with that today.  What do we put in it?  Hm, let's go with green peppers, red peppers, bamboo shoots, and mushrooms and serve it over rice.  Spicy and slightly soapy, it's not my favorite of the curries, but every once in a while it hits the spot.

Our camping trip this weekend was a success, although the JUMBO SIZE marshmallows Mrs. NMUSpidey found didn't roast the way I expected them to...  Still, the new air mattresses made the night that much nicer and the clear skies put on quite a show of stars.  Also picked a pie's worth of blueberries.  Probably be picking another pie or two next weekend.

Welcome to another CURRY SUNDAY here at The Moose Factory!  Tonight we'll grill up some pork, chop it up, and put it in some Indian curry along with onions and potatoes and a sprig or two of cilantro.  We'll serve it alongside naan and/or basmati rice as always.  You know, I should do some research into more Indian food for our Curry Sundays.  I am sure there is more to Indian food besides curry, naan, and rice, I mean, there are desserts, right?  Wouldn't that be nice to add some more Indian-style desserts when we go with Indian curry for our Sunday dinners (or, uh, Monday breakfasts for you guys in the eastern hemisphere)?  I'm going to look into it.

It sounds good, but, I had some roasted pork loin with green curry this weekend and I have to say I wasn't to impressed with it.  It was just to spicy.  Is all curry spicy, or is there some mild curry out there?

Green curry is honestly not my favorite.  It is spicy and it tastes like soap, I keep making it here because I like the idea of it.  Indian curry can be spiced to taste, and the S&B Golden Curry from Japan that I love the most comes in mild/sweet, medium, and hot varieties (we usually get the medium).  The red and yellow Thai curries can be VERY SPICY, but our friends who own the Thai restaurant in my hometown make them a little less spicy so my tongue doesn't disintegrate from it.

Don't get me wrong, it's a good spice, I didn't hate it. I just would have preferred something a little milder.  The pork loin came already seasoned,  I just had to roast it.  I definetly would have used less curry than what was put on it.  Oh well, it's a life lesson.  I'll try some of the more milder curries in the future.

I admit I am weak, so Massaman curry, a relatively mild curry not too unlike yellow curry, is the hottest Thai curry I usually mess with.  Panang curry is good too but pushes it--I want to eat, not wipe drippy noses.  Another alternative would be to use garam masala or kadai masala, which are aromatic Indian spice blends often found as components of curries, but are also not necessarily themselves particularly hot and sometimes no worse than their own components of black pepper or cinnamon.  They are also fairly easy for homemade mixing and grinding, where you can choose the ingredients and reduce or leave out any killer chilies.

Well if I am going to slink into ST, then I guess it would be rude not to come in to Moose Factory and check everyone's pulses.

I'm here with some sad news actually...  David Edgren (Dedgren) who was a big part of our SimCity community has recently had a very serious accident while cycling across the US.

I made a thread in Community Goings On:

David Edgren (Dedgren) - Life Changing Accident

For anyone that knows or remembers David, please do leave a message on his Caring Bridge site.

This is terrible news indeed.

I have known David through SC4, the BSC team room and the SC4Devotion staff room banter for well over a decade. He is a wonderful guy. My thoughts and best wishes for him and his family. I'll keep my fingers crossed for a miracle and hope that he recovers speedily and fully.

That is awful to hear.  We see bikers all the time on the roads and trails up here and people but when you're out there in the wilds it can happen.  I truly hope he recovers.  I love the stuff he made for SC4 and use a lot of it in most of my cities.

I closed my old CJs down.  I was planning on reposting Port Matthew again, but my schedule is not as free as it once was and I'm concentrating on my prose.  I put up a half-finished website and have slowly been posting the stories that won me Trixies here over there, but I haven't been promoting it because I'd rather there were more parts up, maybe some pictures and perhaps even a bio and contact page or something.

It is great to see you around, I just wish it were under happier circumstances!

Well, tbh, I have actually had the SC4 bug / itch for a while, but the old faithful XP box that I used to play on died, and the computer guy is still trying to get files off the HDD, but yeah.    Our current laptop was windows 7 and when I tried to reinstall SC4 from the discs I just kept getting a 'please log in as administrator" error...   That also had a 'reset' crisis a couple of months ago and I lost more of my SC4 files.  Anyway,  it was suggested that I try downloading SC4 from Good Old Games, and this is now actually working reasonably well, but my plugins are a bit of a mess, because I am using an older backed up version - so it is a bit of a process.    I have since upgraded the laptop to Windows 10 and it is now running much better.

I do need to go and poke about in my Screw Pile site, which I have sadly neglected, it still has broken links I know.   However I have just renewed the domain name so its not going anywhere soon.  It is actually just a Wordpress Blog so as long as Wordpress doesn't shut down it is pretty safe, well as safe as anything is on the interwebs.

I was aware a while back that Photobucket stopped offering free third party hosting of images, which means all my images now have their gawd awful watermark on them in my old CJs.   I shall have to decide if I want to pay whatever they are demanding for third party hosting.

How do most people put images on ST these days?   I know you can upload directly to ST, but is it limited?   I feel such a n o o b again.  Lolz.
