The region view looks great; for me, I would like to see more of the "boot" area towards the south of the city. Also, it'd be interesting to see this 'connector' and it's role in sprawl and environmental destruction. Excellent update as always.

    Duckbill Inlet Replies

Thanks for the comment, N106. Who knows what happens to Duckbill Inlet? Currently, the outlook is actually good.

Welcome back, TmiguelT. Glad you liked the update, short updates are my style!

Hello again, CG. Glad you like the town, sorry to hear about Costco and Target. May I ask what town it was? And the church, I'm almost certain that it was made by mrbisonm, try searching Nexis SC3K church.

Hey, Dan. Actually, Duckbill Inlet doesn't have too much of a problem witht he overly wealthy...In Moraine, not everything is lost...Thanks for the comment.

Welcome to Moraine, Wrightguy0. Thanks for the kind comments about Duckbill Inlet. Hopefully the Heldapei administration might turn around. WHo knows.

Welcome, Oktoberfest. Thanks for the comment, and I think you're right about them having a baby. Moraine is a bit smaller, so let's say it's a midget. And which city is the mother?

Hello, chptrk. Even though you didn't comment, thanks for keeping my thread moderated. I appreciate you protecting us innocent citizens from the abominable D-word. No seriously, thanks.

Very correct, Mayor of Tempest Lake! Thanks for the comment, and come back soon!

Hey GreekMan. Thanks for dropping by in here again and leaving a comment. I hope to see you back!

Welcome back, Benedict. Thanks for leaving a comment again, glad you're a fan of gentrification.

Hello, Jamonbread. Glad you liked it! I thought the brick roads were a nice touch too. Thanks!

Hey, redrummage. I didn't even notice that! LOL! Good observation! Thanks for leaving a comment.

Welcome back, CSGdesign. Are you a psychic? You got your wish. Thanks for the comment.

Quit annoying us with your lame pics, Raysfan16. You suck at photoshop. The circle with the 7 in it is crooked! And you even forgot to photoshop in the Ray Izfan Bridge! Jeez.

    Regional Views Replies

Welcome back, Oktoberfest. I hope you become a regular in here-- be patient and there will be an airport in your future!

    Thanks for the comment, DITRO.

Hey, CG. I might release a tutorial on that, if you have photoshop it isn't too difficult. Thanks for the comment.

Glad you could drop by to leave a comment, N106. Just wait 'till 2010 to see the regional view!

Welcome back, DCMetro34. Surely you've seen downtown enough by now....

Welcome back, Benedict.  I like the vocabulary you used, haha. Thanks for the kind worrds, hope to see you back.

And also, welcome back chrissc94! Thanks for the suggestions, you inspired my next update(even though it was imminent anyway, lol).

Well, after doing all these replies, I've noticed I have left Moraine covered up for the most part.  I would like you guys to suggest to me what parts of the city or metro area you want to see. Anything. PM it to me, or reply in here, I don't care. If you've done it already, I hear ya- you don't have to do it again.

Suggestions are also welcome, you can even borderline flame, just make sure those are over PM 9.gif

    Go go go!

I'll be dropping my suggestions in shortly...expect a long list.. 4.gif

BTW, thanks for the link and my town is North Lakewood, Washington. Although big-box stores may hurt the local economy, the businesses are causing spending on local shops to rise! We're all happy!

How did you make your region night picture?

    Take care,

Wow, great regional view, lots of stuff you've filled in there realistically with the city center and suburbs as well as a beltway.

Hey, CG. You will be able to tell I got your suggestions below. Thanks for the comment and I looked at North Lakewood...not too bad of a place to live! Glad the citizens are supporting the small businesses...though I couldn't find many in the vicinity while looking in Google Maps.

Welcome to Moraine, subedei. Thanks for the kind comments, I hope you drop by to see more.

Welcome back, TmiguelT. Thanks for the comment. As for the airport, it'll come eventually. Just be patient while I take care of suggestions that aren't so time-consuming.

Hello, Mr. Beer. Thanks for the comment! The night map is a secret, I might do a tutorial soon. And the suburbs will always be there! Just keep stopping by and who knows what will happen!

    Thanks for stopping by, GMT.

Welcome back, DITRO. The southern peninsula is a popular choice, you'll see it eventually. Same with the Northwest Connector. And Dion Brock is sadly a ways away, but he is the focal point of the story so don't worry!

Hey, Dan. NIce to see you in here as always. Glad you like the region view. You sure you don't have anything you particularly want to see?

As you might've been able to tell in a previous update, Darryl B. Heldapei was one of the worst and most infamous mayors in Moraine's history. This is one of his worst stories.

    darrylcorruptionbanner.jpg

Our story begins in Braddock Bend. The CEO of Moraine Bank released a statement on Heldapei's stuning decision which put less power to banks.

"This recent decision by the administration has put many banks in the area on life support. We simply cannot function with our vital systems crippled, which is essentially what Heldapei has done. We cannot take this. I have scheduled a meeting with the Mayor himself, and the citizens must be educated on this because it puts the LIFE SAVINGS of a significant number of people at stake. Protests will be the only way to compromise against this swine of a moyor whose decisions are rash and incomprehensible for anyone who has any involvement int he local banks."

Of course, Heldapei didn't take this too kindly.

In a secret meeting with his right-hand man, Curtis Blankenship, Dion developed a sinister plan based on the 'readjustment' on 'againg and decayed' pipes laid down 7 years ago.

    corruption1.jpg

Moraine Bank as it stood before the scandal

    corruption2.jpg

Heldapei's workers constructed a spur pipe network to serve ine industrial area...and another purpose.

    corruption3.jpg

    Then, on March 4th, 1992,

    KABLOOEY!

    corruption4.jpg

People going to Moraine Bank couldn't get a drink of water, use the bathroom, or do anything which involved water. This caused complaints directed at the regional manager.

Meanwhile, Heldapei 'recieved word' on what happened and released a statement himself.

"I have recieved word of the accident regarding the layout of basic utilities of the Moraine Bank in Braddock Bend. Our crews are working to fix this problem as soon as possible; their patience will be rewarded eventually. We appreciate your support."

Once out of the media's presence, Heldapei breathed a sign of relief. His plan had worked!

Meanwhile, his adminstration seized the armored cars meant to transfer money to and from the bank. It was disguised as a reposession crew taking them due to expired licenses.

So, the employees of the bank waited for a chance to safely transfer all of the money in the vault. But it never came.

After four months of waiting and giving as much of the money back as possible, Moraine Bank closed for good.

Welcome back, Oktoberfest. Thanks for the comment. Speaking of your hometown Chicago...does that banner of Heldapei look sorta familiar? Ad I already sent a letter with frowny faces. I got laughed at.

ComputerGuy, thanks for stopping by again. I don't think there were any profts from that...just personal gain from Heldapei and many rustrated citizens who couldn't withdrawl from the bank in time.

Hey, CSGdesign. Thanks for the comment about the region view. You found out the daytime photoshop mistake. Congrats!

NOTE:  The mistake was me forgetting the Ray Izfan Bridge in the daytime region view! look closely on page 4.

Not much today...just wanted to let you guys know I still have a pulse. Here's a teaser showing what's coming.

Hey, GreekMan. Thanks for the comment. Hope you like the full airport. Glad you liked the corruption update, lol. Stop by again!

Welcome, tostartpressanybutton. I like the username. Glad you like it (Are you referring to the cj itself or the update?) Either way, thanks for the comment.

Welcome back, DITRO. If by 'business' you mean bad business and crime, nah. The airport is okay. It's the city. Stay away from the city. And the suburbs.

Hey, look who's here....it's b22rian! Thanks for the comment! I hope you return to see what else I have ready to post.

Last but not least, hi ComputerGuy. I don't really care about your suggestion being a 'failure', lol. Such a hoodlum. And your wish is granted down below!

Now for my pride and joy.

    Moraine International Airport.

This was the first major airport I've completed, besides small rural ones.

Great update. I love how you built the different concouses for your airport. The spaghetti-like road layout with ramps going to different parts of the airport mimick real life as well. Very nice, can't wait to see more!

Hello, DITRO. Thanks for the comment! You should make a custom airport. It's a really good feeling when you finish it after so long working on it.

Hey, CG. Thanks for stopping by, glad you like the airport.

Welcome, tostartpressanykey. First off, nice name! Second of all, thanks for the comment. Did I have too many 747's I honestly don't know, what do you think? Your input is appreciated!

Welcome back, chrissc94. Glad you like the airport. After watching my dad wander around Tampa International like a lost duckling, I got inspired with the spaghetti layout! And here comes the beginning of your request from earlier!

Hey, DCMetro34. Glad you like the airport as well, thanks for leaving a comment and I hope you return soon.

Hello, N106. Thanks for the comment! I appreciate your kind words on the airport.

Thanks for the comment, crazychickensc12. I appreciate the kind words, please return for more Moraine!

    Ah....the Northwest Connector.

    heldapeiquote.jpg

The Northwest Connector Route was proposed by Heldapei himself. It was highly lauded as a quick way for rural travellers to reach Moraine or the small nearby town of Braddock Bend. But Morainians aren't stupid. And neither were the farmers about to be wiped out by the steamroller called urban sprawl.

The Northwest Connector was proposed to begin just north of the beltway, approximately as far north as the areas in Braddock Bend previously viewed.

    1plannedroute.jpg

The expressway was to be completed in sections, one segment was fully completed, then the next, then the next. Today we will take a look at the first section completed.

    1areaselected.jpg

The eastern terminus is a trumpet interchange.

    beginningtrumpet.jpg

Then the fun begins. We enter a rural, but just barely inhabited enough to cause 'trouble'.

    proposedoverlay.jpg

The first path was cleared almost immediately. Branch Forbes Road was meant to have the highway go over it, which complicated the design process.

    firstdirtclearing.jpg

    splitfarm.jpg

As you can tell, a simple overpass over Branch Forbes Road was already complete. There wasn't even a need for pillars!

    emptyoverpass.jpg

    interchangenotdone.jpg

Obviously, the interchange was messy, but functional. Landscaping crews were hired and before too long, it looked pretty.
