I am seeing where you're going with this CJ. I do agree with your point about sprawl. As for that decaying area near downtown, I imagine that in the late 1940s and the 1950s, that area was a nice, developed place to live. I do think this is a good CJ, I'm glad you're back to making CJs, and I am eagerly awaiting the next update.

Reminds me of Detroit. A rotten city core and massive suburban sprawl. Probally more like DC. 2.gif

Interesting update... you've nailed suburbia pretty well in a devestatingly-realistic and sinister way.

Well isn't that depressing... you summed up suburban sprawl vs. inner-city decay pretty well though (and with good SC4 examples to boot!). That's exactly how it is in real life.

Welcome back, redrummage. I never knew cities had a taste but thanks for commenting and drop by again!

Hey, N106. You're exactly right about the decaying area near downtown. Except it was near the industrial area, so let's leave it at 'developed'. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment.

Hello, nafixte. You're right about the Detroit analogy. I'm trying to 'accomplish' that idea of a rotten city core. Thanks for stopping by!

What's up, DCMetro34? Thanks for the kind comments. I look forward to seeing you in here again after I force you into there from chat.

Hey, Dan. Thanks for the comment, I like those adjectives you used-sinister is a very good description of what those goshdarn planners are doing up in Moraine.

Hello, Kusajika Yachiru. Thanks for the kind comments. The mall was a plop, I don't think you can unlock it.

Thanks for stopping by, DTP. It's good to hear that I've depressed you with my realism. COme back soon!

Welcome, ironicepitome. Thanks for leaving a comment. I might put GM in here. You never know.

Dayum! That sprawl pic is pretty impressive, and, again, very realistic.

I'm not too keen on the curves in that new connector road though... I'd probably make that whole bottom stretch FAR.

Looks typical of Loudoun County, Virginia, lots of change in such a short time. At least you widened the road in preparation of the development and didn't do it in reaction to development (often years too late) as is done in Northern Virginia here...

    Have a good Thanksgiving.

Excellent update! This goes to show how fast sprawl occurs. Even in my area, 15 years ago, we were nothing but a railroad town and miles of farms. Now that open land is now tract subdivisions and repetitive strip malls. I'm impressed with how realistically you portray this suburbanization process.

Oh, guess I didn't quite phrase that one right. Population tastes are cyclical pre world war 2 much of the population centered on major cities. Highways changed that for much of the latter 20th century. The 21st century many major cities are seeing a renewal in population. Death to walmart.

Welcome, 3dpuzzlemaster. I feel bad that you like this layout. It is horrifically inefficient, but thanks for the kind comments. I hope you stop by again so I can tear your complments to pieces again. 3.gif

Hey, TmiguelT. Once again, it SUCKS to plan like this. Suburbs are inneficient and expensive. I hope you don't miss this update! lol. Stop by again soon!

Welcome back, DTP. Thanks for the comment. I agree with the FAR comment, but there are uh, badger dens in the areas that the road curves around. Thanks for stopping by!

Hi, jacqulina. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a kind comment. Hope you come back.

Greetings, Dan. You're right, it does remind me of Loudoun County. (I travel up US 15 every summer). Thanks for leaving a kind comment, and I hope you had a good Thanksgiving.

Hey, N106. Suck it up and stop crying. 3.gif

Welcome back, chrissc94. The same thing has happened to my town to some extent. We were an unorganized cluster of mobile homes and truck stops near the interstate exit. That has been the inspiration for me. Glad you liked the update, come back soon!

Sup, Jamal.  Who knows if polar bears lived in Moraine? They might've.... And also, keep in mind there were already a few subdivisions there before. I guess you're right thogh....lol. Thanks for leaving the comment.

Hello, redrummage. I'm glad to see you're looking like a Morainian regular. Your comment made me laugh. I agreed with the first part about the 'cycle' and it was concluded perfectly with "Death to walmart."

Ironcepitome, I'm happy for your good point and I'mma let you finish, but the Exxon Valez is one of the BEST nature destroyers of ALL TIME.

    Small update today.

In 1988 a local developer and entrepreneur named Ray Izfan Jr. gave me a tour of what significance his family has on the city.

Hahaha, wow a photoshopped/gimped highway bridge, and even in the region view too! Nicely done, nicely done.

Hello, Jamal.Thank you for the comment ma'am. Come back again ma'am.

Greetings, Larkz. Photoshop, like I said, is a bonding agent found in Uzbekistan. It's been found in quarries since 1652 and is estimated to have existed since about 10,000 BCE.

Welcome back, TmiguelT. Glad you like the bridge. Come back soon.

Hey, CSGdesign. Check the STEX for different angles and the download.

Hello, Archean. Thanks for the comment! Glad you like the bridge.

Whats up, Benedict? Glad to see you're back after a while, same as Ellis Valley. Glad you like my cj in general, hope you come back for more!

Wazzzzaaaahhhhhh, N106? Imitation is the best form of flattery. Will write 3 abrupt sentences like you. Thanks for the comment.

I agree, redrummage. Thanks for the comment.

Hello, Muck308. Thanks for the kind comments about the bridge, hope to see you pop in here more often!

Thanks for the comment, rjm35. Come back soon.

    Cutting off Downtown

One of the most important urban core events in Moraine's history was the completion of the freeway and expressway system. This portrays the worst of it.

Side note: I think this was one of the first updates I've ever made (in any 3 cjs) that submitted painlessly. This is reply #60, so I'm crossing my fingers that the PFB won't strike early.
