Future Megastructures

Ah, wanting stuff.  We all want stuff.  Such as our own local, regional, or country monuments and tourist attractions in out games.

So today's question is; what mega structure/blueprint do you want to see added into Cities XL next?

But before anyone starts listing off monument after monument after monument, some rules!

1)  You may only list 1 structure,

2)  You must include 1 picture of said structure for everyone who might not be familiar with it,

3)  Remember the 600x800 or 800x600 file size limits.

-------------------------------------------

Mine is simple, I would like to see the CN Tower, located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and is considered one of the world's tallest buildings.  Though the area has never experienced an earthquake, the tower was constructed to withstand an earthquake up to a 5.0 magnitude.  When it was initially proposed for construction, a smear campaign by "concerned citizens" occurred where a photograph of Toronto from the air was painted with a large circle labelled "the fall zone", illustrating the area the tower could fall over in.

Image:  The CN Tower is located next to the Skydome (a multi-purpose stadium with retractable roof) in Toronto's lakefront downtown area.

---------------------------------------------------------

And just for those interested...

Washington Mutual tower is my favorite. It is not all that big, but it is very elegant.

Ocram's Razor: Though "more things shouldn't be used than are necessary," they're just too fun to pass up! Expect many verbose arguments from me. I will try to write abstracts before or short summaries after from now on.

Words to live by:
"Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit... But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually..." 1 Corinthians 4-11

"Do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:34
"Do not judge so that you will not be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you." Matthew 7:1-3

The Sears tower in Chicago is my choice! It would be really nice to see it made in the game as a megastructure!=D

Neushwanstein would be cool.  For those that don't know it's the real German castle that inspired the Sleeping Beauty castle.  I guess the Disney castle would work as well.  Allthough neither would fit well in the huge cities, I think they'd work well in farm/holiday cities.

Not seen it myself, but if it's in game it's a landmark Globex, not a mega structure.

And for those who haven't seen it.  The Bank of China Tower in Hong Kong.

I think it looks weird myself.  XD

Wrong, it's a blueprint. In game files it's under blueprints 19.gif.

In the PO now are available blueprints with growth stages; there are other blueprints with only one stage that maybe aren't ready to be megastructures. I don't remember (and I can't search since this isn't my PC), but I think that also the Bank of China is already a blueprint or landmark (?).

    Awesome! I got my wish...

Does that mean I get another one to list?

I'm dissapointed with the lack of big holiday hotels. How about "The contemporary" hotel disney...with a monorail station!  Sorry for sounding like a disney commercial, but I like the holiday concept in the game, and I'm grassping for options.

Wow, that pic of Toronto is so old .... The CN tower is now surrounded by mega residential glassy towers, all around the tower. There's almost no more parking lots.

I have to say that Cities XL is extremely Europe/America centralised with regards to the megastructures, except for the couple of Japanese megastructures that can be built. What happened with the Petronas Towers? (Kuala Lumpar) Or The Bird's Nest? (Beijing) Or Taipei 101?(Taipei, Taiwan) or the Sydney Opera House?(Erm, Sydney) Or the Novotel HK(oh waiiiii...)

I spent a year working in Dubai. Lots of big buildings that would be awesome for Megastructures there. There are two very obvious ones, the Burj al Arab and Burj Dubai (Tallest building in the world once it's complete!). But I'd personally be happier to see the more understated, yet still prominent feature of the Dubai Skyline, the Emirates Towers:

    Jumeirah Emirates Towers

    EmiratesTower.jpg

50k upkeep, +3 holiday tokens, +10% offices profits anyone?

It's fun seeing megastructures from around the world, keep this thread rolling!

There are plenty of structures that they still haven't released yet, but we know are mostly done. For example, the Sydney Opera House is even featured in the game manual, and Globex did find Neushwanstein in the game files. But I see no harm in asking or stating you'd like to see them next. Afterall, MC can't read our minds and if lots of people want specific structuctures out next, there's a greater chance it would be if they know people were waiting for/wanting them. :3

I only want to see what was once mine and many others favorite megastructure placed into the game. Since we can not rebuild what was ripped from the world with no warning, resurrect the World Trade Center... ALL of the buildings.

I would love to have one of the more beautiful big-city "megastructures": Central Park in NYC.

With the bigger cities, environment and pollution seems to be two of the biggest problems, so CP could give city wide bonuses to environment and reduce pollution across the city.

^^While I do very much enjoy large downtown parks (Stanley Park in Vancouver beats-out Central Park in my books), I think custom park building tools would be a much better idea.  Having a massive park as a lot with a set (massive) size could be problematic.

They already have ancient structures like Chichen Itza & Rhodes Colossus

But they forgot one of the most iconic...

The pyramids at giza or the sphinx.

(No picture needed, you must have been living under a rock if you are not familiar with the egyptian pyramids)

Sometimes it looks amazing at night, but personally I would prefer it to stay blue.

Some of the colour combinations are a bit too gaudy for my liking.
