Hi folks.

I have the game all new and have problems not to be kicked because of my bay money strategy.
I place a little Industry (medium or heavy), some Residentials and a bit commercialy in my city. There are also a firestation, a police station a primary and a secondary school. This seems for me the min i have to build, but the finances are so bad, that i do not survive for long 8.gif.

What am i doing wrong?

Thanks to all of you,

Hela

try building slowly, thats the main thing, let the zoned areas fill in...don't give the sims improvements until the improvements are needed...no matter how much they whine, if you give them everything they want, you will go broke.

also when you  place improvements like civic buildings...you can adjust the amout spent on each individual one...so you only spend as much as your city needs...not the full price

to change the amount...use the top ?  icon to view the civic buildings...use the slide bar to adjust amount spent on that particular building  (eg...if you have a lrg hospital...at 100% funding can hold 3000 ppl...if theres only 500 ppl using the hospiltal...lowwer the funding so it covers just the ppl you are going to help) this may cause red warnings later on as the hospital becomes over crowded...but just go back and boost the funding to cover the # of paitience....this can be done with all hospitals, all schools, police and fire station too

tweaking their $$ down , speacially at the start of a city...can save you a lot of money...just when you reall need it

    Welcome to Simtropolis. PM me or others if you need help.

    Giving your sims to much is a claassic newbie mistake in Sim City. I would follow what Tolomar has just said as that is very useful. I would also like to add in other things you shoul do at the start:
    • Use low density and start small.
    • Don't give water.
    • Use a cheap/polluting power station.
    • Keep taxes at 9.0 if you really are not trying to attract demand or get rid of it.
    • Use only roads and streets and don't give buses out until later on.

    I remember when I first started out playing I would always end up getting kicked out my city because of budget problems. But after a while I started getting the hang of managing my cities money. It just takes time to really learn to play wisely.

    Yup, too much too soon. At first all you really need is power, roads, fire coverage and zones. All the other stuff can come later, slowly, as you can afford it.

    Rome wasn't built in a day, as they say.

    I have a question, what brings in the money? I thought population did, but I see it doesn't. I have several small cities which most do very well, financially. But my latest is turning out to be a disaster.

    City #1: Entire population is made up of 1x3 LDR$
    Population = 9,625. Income = $4,105 from R$ @ 9.0%

    City #2: Entire population is made up of 1x2 LDR$
    Population = 11,002. Income = $4,870 from R$ @ 9.0%

    City #3: Entire population is made up of 1x1 LDR$
    Population = 15,575. Income = $7,290 from R$ @ 9.0%

    City #4: Entire population is made up of 1x3 MDR$
    Population = 25,109. Income = $3,514 from R$ @ 9.0%

    City #5: Entire population is made up of 3x3 HDR$
    Population = 18,856. Income = $1,801 from R$ @9.0%

    When I zone for Medium and High density, I get more people, but make less. Not only that, but I saw where large buildings developing would cause expenses to rise sharply as well.

    Where is the money supposed to come from to support cities with large buildings? And if the large buildings give me less and cost more, why desire them?

    I think the money thing might be ,that your not recievieng any
    income from the buildings that are developing ,until they are finished.which can take a few months ,then you recieve income
    the month after,if your cutting a fine budget 2 or 3 big devolopments growing at the same time can thro you into the red.The bigger my cities get the more simoleons i make ,and thats fact,so maybe you need to rethink stratergy,maybe
    something else is your crippling your eco.
    Also in biggers cities if you can persude the sims to use
    public transport,then the fares taken do end up as a huge propotion of your monthly income,becareful tho cos you can have a realy weathly city ,but with very little stage 8 ,or chances of getting any.
    Is that long enough ??44.gif
