Why does my game still keeps crashing?

I know there are quite a lot of topics. But reading trought them would not really help me so. Here I go4.gif

On my old pc, my game keep crashing all the time even with low quality, because of the bad quality of the PC, I thought.

Now, on my new pc, a pc that is 25 times better, it still keeps crashing.

Why? How? What must I do to fix it?

See my profile for my computer settings, if I am right.

Most game crashes are caused by faulty, or conflicting custom content.  Since it has happened on two of your computers, that's what I would suspect, and not the computer hardware.

If your new computer came with a wide screen monitor, you can try adding a custom resolution to the "shortcut target".

    "C:\Program Files\Simcity 4\Apps\SimCity 4.exe" -CustomResolution:enabled -r1440x900x32 -f -intro:off

    -w = windowed
    -f = full screen
    -r = resolution

Add a space after the quotation marks of the path. and one after each tag.  Use a resolution your monitor can display.

You must start the game with the shortcut at least once for the change to take effect.

if your processor is multi-core, disable all but one core once you see the region screen when you start up. do this by ctrl+alt+del, selecting the exe in processes and then affinity. my game kept crashing for no reason as qwell, and this has solved my problem.

I play on a computer I built myself a few years ago using an AMD single core processor and Windows XP - a very stable platform - yet I'm now suffering endless crashes to desktop (dozens of them) when I try to terraform. It's so bad - I just tossed out a whole region, copied a new one from Maxis on C drive - and still I can't terraform. (I've neither added nor deleted anything from my plugin files lately.)

This game can really get on one's nerves.

I suppose you've tried this, but did you change rendering from Hardware to Software?

When I chose Hardware, the game crashed all the time, even with updated drivers installed. When I changed rendering to Software, the problem was solved..
